Is Retro the home of great music?
Wheather a new Genre is ceated or not doent really make any diffrence. all music no matter from which generation has 'borrowed' music of past generations. e.g. rock n roll borrowed a bit from the blues and country music of yesteryear. Same as today new genres are being created like Grime music which borrows a bit from Hip Hop and some from Garage music. Technically no music is ever really totally 'new' as to Whether todays music is good or bad it is completley subjective.

Close to a million in the UK?
it was 25th biggest seller of the 00's with over 750,000 sales.

Wrong song getting to number one
Sales were low in 1992, even though ITS only made no.2 it outsold DD by a considerable amount. Even more surprising for ITS imo is that it even made no.1 in the US!

Tears for Fears
Good. I like Head Over Heels, their later stuff like Woman In Chains, Laid So Low and Break It Down Again are also good but often forgotten about. I much prefer Gary Jules version of Mad World, better than TFF version IMO.

bjork vs bush and bannion
I did, for me their performance completley ruined the song, but for some reason the Judges liked it ^_^

iTunes Thread. March Part 3.
tbf I think sfg are more than a teeny pop group, they write their own songs and play their own instruments, I'd say they were a credible pop group. Incedentally, TIALS at no.1 will mark their 100th week in the top 75 :o

Retro Referances in modern songs
the only one I can think of is American pie (don McLean/Madonna) which references Buddy Hollys death.
-

freddy mercury was the best frontman imo

Aha take on me went to no.1 after it was re-released.

Gary Numan
Electronic music fans might be interested in the programme Synth Britinnia, about the uprise of the Synthesizer bands from Kraftwerk in the mid 70's to the Pet Shop Boys in the late 80's. It has exclusive interviews with Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Phil Oakey, Neil Tennant and many more. Very interesting programme and well worth a watch. It was shown on BBC4 last year but you can still watch it on BBC iplayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00n9...ynth_Britannia/
