Paid subscriptions might eradicate the need for those irritating pop-up ads!
  2. Fall out boy are great, especially the early stuff.
  3. Their first album was great not been so keen on anything they've done since then.

Green Light is one of my favourite songs of the 2010's much prefer it to Royals.
  5. Having watched totp there was a brilliant song they played that is further down the chart that I had'nt heard for ages. Love rears its ugly head by Living Colour, how this never peaked higher I'll never know.
  6. So used to hearing the Florence & the Machine version of You Got The Love I'd almost forgotten how the original went. It's strange but its always seems to be the songs you least expect that go on to be most enduring decades later.

I watched the first two shows, didn't know she was now of Swiss nationality!
  8. Songs are not subject to acr on this chart I remember dance monkey spent forever in the top ten long after it had left the BBC chart.

I think it was alot easier in the late 90's to try and avoid missing the coveted no.1 spot because singles generally peaked in the first week out. So acts could better time their releases so as not to go up against another big name act. There were numerous times songs were held back to give them a better chance of no.1. Not so easy in the early 80's as songs took ages to peak so it was impossible to know who you'd be competing with for no.1.
  10. Interesting countdown. Songs by The Carpenters and The Foundations definitely the stand out songs so far. If it's like alot of these polls the more recent tracks at the time will be higher up, even if in hindsight years later they weren't quite as deserving of a high chart placing .

Most misleading artist with chart peaks goes to Westlife, 14 number ones and nobody remembers any of them

Better Be Good To Me is a song I like from her. It often gets over looked but it was written by the same team that wrote The Best (Mike Chapman & Holly Knight).
  14. I was reading another article in Music Week from December 1983, about a row that had erupted over chart weighting. It concerned Roland Rat-(a puppet from children's TV). His record company claimed the Rat had been unfairly targeted when after Gallup had weighted the chart, his single Rat Rapping suddenly dropped down the chart. I don't suspect there would have been many complaints from chart followers!
  15. I think when Hammer asked for permission from the Chi Lites to cover their song they should have told him no U can't touch this!
  16. 2000 U2 2001 Travis 2002 Robbie Williams 2003 Justin Timberlake 2004 Scissor Sisters 2005 Gorillaz 2006 Razorlight, Killers a close 2nd 2007 Arctic Monkeys 2008 Take That 2009 Florence & the Machine
  17. I Wish I hadn't started this pun thing now
  18. When a woman with a voice as good as hers sings maybe it's not surprising
  19. I thought a million sales might have been out of reach for Dreams, even though it's a decent song. Loved her on the Masked Singer. She was the best selling British solo female singer on the singles chart in the 90's and deservedly so.
  20. Supertramp are good, especially the Breakfast In America album If you liked Toto you might like Boz Scaggs, which also included Toto members.
  21. 1980 Police 1981 Human League 1982 Yazoo 1983 Duran Duran 1984 Wham 1985 Tears For Fears 1986 Bon Jovi 1987 U2 1988 Erasure 1989 Queen

The Style Council did a hit cover of this song, not as dancey but not a bad version
  24. The charts aren't as popular anymore because social media is the new thing that entertains the youth of the day. Many years ago before the internet or even computers THE thing to do was buy records and listen / watch the chart show for teenagers.
