  1. 'True Love Never Dies' is fab, if from late 2001 were your clubbing days, you must have charted it on re-release in 2002, popchartfreak? The Muse song is anthemic even if the chorus lyrics are rather weird and disturbing. 'I Wanna Be U' is good, even if it is rather repetitive.
  2. The Aneka 'Japanese Boy' and Hozier's 'Too Sweet' chorus melodies remind me of each other  'Tainted Love' Is very good but I think now I prefer synthpop with guitars too like Ultravox.
  3. Not a big fan of 'Girls On Film', 'Planet Earth' is better imo. Not the biggest fan of the Human League but 'Love Action' is very good. That's interesting that the band classed it as a dance song back then. The ELO track is quite rock and roll retro revival in style like Shakin Stevens. The French part is interesting too.

I think Georgia could do it again against an Iberian team and either win or draw this (after 90 minutes).
  5. Even 'Zeros' is flopping :(

Looking forward to 1993 and 2003 being the next two years of our compilations - 2003 was an good year for dance hits in the UK and Europe too - Loneliness, Opera Song, The Way, Pretty Green Eyes, Summer Jam (DJ FRANK 2003 version), Fly On The Wings Of Love. 'I'm In Heaven' by Jason Nevins and Holly James not on Spotify yet though :(
  7. One of the first songs I ever liked 'A Design For Life' was on the music channels loads back then and it's epic.
  8. 'Do You Think About Me' is lovely with the classical piano and sweet vocal  'Clint Eastwood' is good fun and the David Gray song is downbeat but very good, I remember a lot from the time as my dad was a big fan of the album. Clock have my favourite version of 'Whoomp There It Is', but then I am a big eurodance fan, interested to know what you think of their version.

To answer your question for 2003 Ignition probably wouldn't be on it but the other songs probably would (apart from Toxic as its from 2004). 'Every Way That I Can' is a great shout, I have great holiday memories being on holiday in Crete in summer 2003 and hearing it.
  10. Assumed that Goldfinger song was a cover of Shirley Bassey, it sounds like good heavy Britpop with good use of phaser effects. Keep On Jumping is good, disco house became a trend in the charts by this point.
  11. The follow up Paint Me Down was funk too though I think?! Instinction is not one of my favourites if that's what your talking about but it sounds like it influenced sophistipop later in the 80s like Hue and Cry.
  12. Last 16 Switzerland 0-0 Italy Germany 2-0 Denmark England 0-0 Slovakia Spain 0-1 Georgia France 2-0 Belgium Portugal 0-1 Slovenia Romania 1-0 Netherlands Austria 3-1 Turkey
  13. Love the early 80s new wave vibes of the instrumental of ILTWYKM by Artemas so would be up for a similar collab. Charli would be good too definitely should have been in the poll for this - the two British pop queens of the moment.
  14. Some other tracks in the top 40 at this time THERE'S A GUY WORKS DOWN THE CHIP SHOP SWEARS HE'S ELVIS - KIRSTY MACCOLL another rock and roll retro revival sounding song in the charts peaking at #14. Unusually titled song! VISAGE - VISAGE #21 peak - I prefer this to their previous single 'Mind of A Toy' THROW AWAY THE KEY LINX #21 peak Very catchy disco song really like it
  15. 'Lay All Your Love On Me' is indeed great, has a similar sort of epic synthpop production as Ultravox's 'The Voice' would later in the year. 'Chant Number 1' is good, some Brit funk influences this time rather than the synthpop/new wave of their debut. The funky guitar riff in it was sampled in the first version of Rui da Silva/Cassandra's song 'Touch Me' that we heard about recently on Julian T's 2001 thread.
  16. 'Ms Jackson' I remember from school at the time (I was nine years old at the time) and becuase our principal was called 'Ms Jackson' my classmates thought the song was funny. Nelly Furtado is unusual in that she started off her chart career very MOR with 'I'm Like A Bird' then went to R&B/dancepop later in the decade. 'I'm Like A Bird' was on the radio lots and my mum liked it at the time, its a bit too MOR for me. 'Always Come Back To Your Love' is a really nice song from Samantha Mumba.
  17. I had long assumed "You and Me Song' was another Britpop song really but no its Swedish. 'California Love' is an iconic song.

I assumed Mark Morrison was American until his name was mentioned there in the opening post.

The other match is more interesting now I think. I am watching it. Czechs with 10 men back equalised but they need to win to get through. I like Turkiye though too.
  23. Was hoping 'Zeroes' would be higher on the Apple Music chart.
  24. Ukraine 0-1 Belgium Slovakia 1-2 Romania Czech Republic 2-1 Turkey Georgia 0-1 Portugal
  25. Thats an interesting song, the chorus sounds influenced by Doja Cat 'Boss Bitch'
