Both will continue their other regular shows. Also some changes to the Residency shows: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnew...up-r1-residency

Well hello there R1 discussion thread! For those who are new to this thread, this is basically the place where we discuss Radio 1 and all it's good things including TOTD's and many other things. Look out for my weekly posts of R1's Best New Pop show hosted by Cel Spellman every Sunday, it does get quite a bit of discussion. And to kick things of with the TOTD's this year: TOTD 2nd January: Nadia Rose - Tight Up (feat. Red Rat) TOTD's in the first week are normally from BBC Sound Of artists, a bit awakard this year because you hear the TOTD's on the first from Clara's show rather than Adele's show and that the fact that a Sound Of artist will picked over Major Lazer & Nicki Minaj or Ed Sheeran. Here's the full 2017 Sound Of list: · AJ Tracey · Anderson Paak · Cabbage · Dave · Declan McKenna · Jorja Smith · Maggie Rogers · Nadia Rose (5TH PLACE) · Rag ‘n’ Bone Man · Ray BLK · Raye · Stefflon Don · The Amazons · The Japanese House · Tom Grennan
  4. :no1: Clean Bandit - Rockabye (feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) [1.0000] 2. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human [0.9098]
  5. http://www.newhiphopsong.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/yeezy-1-768x408.png Tyga is back with a new song with everyone's favourite outspoken rapper Kanye West and is featured in GOOD's Music album 'Cruel Winter'. It called 'Feel Me' and it's out now to stream on Apple Music, haven't see this on Spotify yet but hopefully it should be on there soon.

I think there will be more :no1: in 2017 but not by much, probably scrape the amount in 2016. Think it will be focused on EDM/Dance but wouldn't be surprised to see pop or hip-hop in some :no1: 2-4 English :no1:
  7. The Chainsmokers have a new single out in January called Paris. .
  8. Forget the rumours of the next single having a duet with Bebe Rexha or Dua Lipa it appears that the next single is one with Emily Warren and it's called 'Paris'. This will be their first song released since the release of their second EP 'Collage' and the song will hopefully be included in their debut studio album although I'm not sure if this song is going to be the lead single from it. They have already performed this song during a set yesterday and the single is going to be released in January. https://twitter.com/xcassidyo/status/815156091558338560 https://twitter.com/Hailee_Plaziak/status/815157886884032512 Based on the live performance, it doesn't sound too exciting but it's much better than 'All We Know' which I think is an embarrassment of a song.

  10. I'm surprised R1 snubbed John Legend despite 1Xtra/R2 supporting him so maybe his current position will change their minds.

Here's another bunch of songs that could grab people's attentions: DJ Snake - The Half (feat. Jeremih, Young Thug & Swizz Beatz) DJ Snake has had quite the year with stunning tunes such as Middle, Talk and not forgetting Let Me Love You and now next year he is releasing his 4th single from Encore called The Half which features American RnB/hip-hop stars Jeremih, Young Thug & Swizz Beatz. For me it's catchy and pretty dope to listen to although you will have no idea what the singer's are rapping to! It's impacting on January 17th in the US so hopefully we will see in the top 40 by March! Ariana Grande - Everyday (feat. Future) W8v-e05cufw Ariana Grande keeps rolling out the singles ahead of her next album next year. Following on from Side By Side, Ariana is pushing for a RnB like song to get another top ten hit and with the help of Future in it. It's certainly going to get the radio support she needs but will get as close as Side By Side did though? DJ Fresh & Diplo - Bang Bang (feat. R. City, Selah Sue & Craig David) pF2YgLEso10 5 artists, one massive song.... Or will it be? DJ Fresh has teamed up with Diplo on this one and it's called Bang Bang. No, it ain't Jessie, Ariana & Nicki, it's DJ, Diplo, City, Sue, & David on this future clubber. With some big names banging along this can easily beat the unfortunate flop that was How Love Begins and bang it's way into the top 40. ZAYN & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever 3KyzjghWsao An unlikely combination.. Taylor Swift has been very quiet in her music life for a couple of years, but 2017 seems like her massive comeback year and it starts of with a song with none other than ZAYN in a song made for Fifty Shades Darker. This song has already peaked at :no1: on iTunes but it seemed to quickly wear off, however with the film set to hit our cinema screens on February 10th, don't be surprised to see this shoot up again. Cashmere Cat - Trust Nobody (feat. Selena Gomez & Tory Lanez) o9kCz5ew1hE European DJ Cashmere Cat is one of those people that wants his songs to explode so badly and if he's lucky he could get the wish he granted for. It certainly helps that he's grabbed Selena Gomez & Tory Lanez for this one in this RnB focused song. It's bubbling in the top 100 on Spotify so with a bit of promotion it could get even higher! Alex Da Kid - Not Easy (feat. X Ambassadors, Elle King & Wiz Khalifa) U-e90ELRnnQ Alex Da Kid you say? He ain't a kid, he's a proper man and a very good music producer who made songs from Dr. Dre, Cheryl, Nicki Minaj, Imagine Dragons, B.o.B & Eminem hits. He is defently the future Naughty Boy and this statement couldn't be truer with this hard-hitting, emotional first song that reminds me a kids view on the state of this planet. Watch out Naughty Boy, you have another British producer on your tails!
  12. http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/dj-snake-the-half/ Think you hadn't heard enough DJ Snake yet? You're about to get even more in 2017 because DJ Snake has announced his first post-album/4th single from 'Encore'. The song they have choosen as their next single is 'The Half' which features American RnB/hip-hop artists Jeremih, Young Thug & Swizz Beatz. It's impact date in the US is the 17th January so expect this to pick up in the UK in late January/throughout February. A fantastic choice as next single, such a jam! :cheer:

Here are some which I think are possible hits... Sage The Gemini - Now & Later ACPd7HSZkc0 A very catchy song, Sage The Gemini also featured on Flo Rida's GDFR which was a huge party anthem and sadly missed out on being :no1: nearly two years ago. With this featured on the Snapchat Filter, I expect a lot of those users will be hopping on to this song quickly! Chris Brown - Party (feat. Gucci Mane & Usher) Z9eMk051dYg Chris Brown hasn't grabbed the attention of UK people for a while, however he could with this RnB smasher! Why?... Because of two artists who have had great success in 2016, Gucci Mane who found fame on Black Beatles and Usher who made a proper return on his tracks Crash & No Limit. With these two artists onboard this track, surely Chris Brown will be relevant on the charts again? OneRepublic - Let's Hurt Tonight 8wGN7D03Nho This seems like it's the 3rd single from Oh My My and it's a proper emotional one. It's shame that Wherever I Go & Kids never really became big singles and I don't really expect this to either so I'm hoping this at least swallows into the top 40. I haven't disliked a OR song ever and this hasn't changed my mind. Jax Jones - You Don't Know Me (feat. RAYE) PKB4cioGs98 This song is another fresh start for funky house tunes although I could say that when Crank It (Woah!) was a nutter of a song. House Work never really took off and that's a shame because that was aimed at the hot bod's as well however this certainly is a contention for a top ten place. It helps as well that BBC Sound Of 2017 contender RAYE is featured on vocals like she was on Jonas Blue's By Your Side. With a bit of help from her, Jax Jones could be a name everyone remembers in the future! Bastille - Blame Iys9IHmDJ1w Bastille couldn't have had a better year last year with their second studio album Wild World out and two pretty good singles with it, in fact for this album they went more of the silly and British way of doing things hence the album name Wild World. Good Grief went to top ten on iTunes within a week but Send Them Off! didn't have quite the same effect, hopefully this will settle in the top 30 somewhere and it's a great tune again! Certainly wouldn't be surprised to see a fourth single soon. James Arthur - Safe Inside 2TtgkKZNTa8 James Arthur's comeback year was certainly the one he wanted. A :no1: single and a fantastic album to go with it, so it's time to release another single from it. He has another version of Let Me Love The Lonely coming with Nicole Scherzinger on the way but before that we get Safe Inside which seems to be an easy top 40 song for him, the question is whether he can get R1 support and book a couple of live TV performances to push it up even further. Galantis - Pillow Fight 67rB95_3j90 We are in a era where dance and happy songs go very well together and do you know who is responsible for that??.. Galantis! They have seemed to quickly move on from Love On Me and go with their old style of building the tune and making it sound magic with Pillow Fight but for me it's not their best effort and probably won't hit as well as their other singles but still easily for a top 40 place. Sigala & Digital Farm Animals - Only One sm5xYDROj9o If you are a fan of Galantis then you really should be a fan of Sigala! This is their 5th single released from them and they have teamed up with Millionaire Boy's Digital Farm Animals for this one. It's a bit like combining Galantis & Sigala for this one with the robotic voices but as usual the Sigala vibes are still there! Easy top 20 for me and I bet radio stations will be quick to get behind this one. All I'm waiting for now is a bloody album!!! I'll have another bunch of future hits soon!

Kendrick Lamar) Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love Niall Horan - This Town Zara Larsson - Lush Life Little Mix - Touch Ariana Grande - Into You Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better ZAYN & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever Bruno Mars - 24K Magic Lukas Graham - 7 Years Hailee Steinfeld & Grey - Starving (feat. Zedd) The Chainsmokers - Don't Let Me Down (feat. Daya) Clean Bandit - Rockabye (feat. Anne-Marie & Sean Paul) Thoughts on this? I agree with pretty much most of it but I'm baffed to wonder why Hello & How Deep Is Your Love is on the list when they are from 2015 and made most of the impact from that year. Would have changed those two with When We Were Young & My Way instead. Also there were randomly playing Christmas songs in there which was a waste of time and prevented other pop-worthy entries in the list. Replace Bruce Springsteen with Justin Bieber's Love Yourself and Coldplay's Christmas Lights with Hym For The Weekend. Next Week's show is the Most Played Of 2016 Show so I will let WiseManFromLeeds post the details of that instead like he normally does. (Unless he is unavailable..)

  19. Have a feeling Zayn & Taylor Swift might be heading up back into the top 10 soon as they have been given an instant A-List add by R1. :cheer:

Seems like the TOTD's have finished this year as there is no TOTD today. I'm waiting for the playlist update thread but I can tell you that Zayn & Taylor Swift have gone straight to the A-List and there have been new adds for Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello, Naughty Boy & Sean Paul feat. Dua Lipa. :)
  21. AWTREwT-GQI Kris Kross Amsterdam & Conor Maynard have teamed up for a surprising dance anthem in time for Christmas and it features Ty Dolla $ign. It's out tomorrow (23/12/16) and has been instant-added to the Capital playlist. :P Can't see this really being a smash, I guess Capital see something in it but it's not really going to smash though?
  22. X4aUGEYfPWE Royal Blood are back for their 2nd Studio Album, it will be released in 2017 and the latest teaser suggest 'How Did We Get So Dark' is dropping on June 16th. :w00t:

Slightly OT but congrats to Radio 1 for reaching their target of 1 million hours of volunteering, it's took a year for them to do it but congrats to them at last for hitting the target! :)
