Sigala featuring Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor & French Montana to mash an Abba medley into "Just Got Paid" live at the BRITs?

I do agree, I think - though culturally I hope it'll always hold something - also I'd argue the X-Factor killed the buzz of the Christmas Number 1 for the most part, though 2009 was good fun!
  3. It’s definitely not as instant as past lead singles but it does grow and is pretty catchy actually! Not going nuts over it but I don’t mind if it makes number 1.

There are far worse (better?) examples this year! (IMO)

Oh wow those reviews are getting me excited! I'm really interested to hear how "Honey" and "Missing U" sound in context of the album, and the other new tracks.
  6. I actually really quite like this on first couple of listens 👀 her best since "Love Me Like You Do" (not that I listened to the last album, "On My Mind" was too atrocious, but best single at least)
  7. An amazing artist, two of my favourite songs of all time her 2 best sellers here. In a justified world they’d all have sold a bucket load more but at least she grabbed that shock number 1 :)

Had forgotten Abba were supposed to be back this winter - interesting...!!! It's so hard to say how it'll do. Same with the new Westlife. Though mentioning them both in the same breath when not specifically talking about "I Have A Dream" seems disingenuous to Abba...
  9. Both are alright and I hear "Funk Wav Bounces" in neither of them!? Just kind of on trend and generic sounding.
  10. Ellie featuring Swae Lee? :S I do miss when it was all about her and her identity. You'd never think back in the days of "Starry Eyed" or even "Explosions" she'd end up featuring a random flavour of the month hip hop artist.

Not seen a topic for this yet and couldn’t find one so let’s kick it off! Who / what will be this year’s Christmas number 1? Maybe it’ll be George Ezra with "Hold My Girl" - a sensible first thought? Maybe it’ll be "Feed The Birds (Tuppence A Bag)" from the new Mary Poppins soundtrack? Maybe there’ll be a random campaign to get "No Way No Way" by Vanilla to the top spot? The John Lewis advert? A Christmas classic? A NEW or new-ish Christmas song - such as "Ho Ho Ho" by Sia or "Mr Right" by Leona Lewis? Who knows! But have a guess!
  12. Exactly this as well.
  13. I tend not to bother with deluxe versions of albums as why would those tracks have been left off of the standard version in the first place? Likely not good enough. However if I really like the standard album, I’ll try out the deluxe tracks. This helped me find some more tracks I really enjoyed from 1989 by Taylor Swift - but I could completely understand why the tracks on the deluxe of Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood were left off of the standard version. It stopped it being such a coherent, quality album for me.
  14. Still waiting for Australia to send their first duet or group!
  15. Had a listen to "The River" last night, not bad, definite potential to grow and will give it more listens. It also made me listen to "(Still A) Weirdo" And "Other Side Of The World" afterwards - both are amazing

A year ago I'd have been excited about this - even after "Mama" - but now, nah. It's all drab, sell out, pop music now.
  17. Really getting into this track, it's cool and chilled, really enjoy listening to it when winding down for bed in particular.
  18. Shallow is stunning, Little Mix's new single is no better than the new Olly Murs. Pretty tacky tbh
  19. You just KNOW it's coming. I'd much rather hear her work with acts like CamelPhat, Loud Luxury, Flume, Disclosure on this new album.

I agree but I don’t think 1999 is anything special from the couple of listens I’ve given it. But 2002 is definitely top 10 worst of the year.
  21. Easy Love is so feelgood and was a trendsetting anthem! That doesn’t mean to say everyone’s gonna like it though :P We’ve only had like 1 dance number 1 since I think as well, KDA/Katy B/Tinie Tempah - blimey! I hadn’t realised there was a sample on "Say You Do", love the song though. Loved the oomph in "Give Me Your Love" And "Sweet Lovin'" was fresh. "Came Here For Love" may be my favourite. This one would be solid for me but it feels that this year in particular he’s become like a Simon Cowell fodder version of himself - just like Jonas Blue - there’s something pretty cheesy about his tracks now. There’s something pretty contrived about this one. It may yet grow...

Really quite liking "Mona Lisa" on first listens, might actually give this album a listen...
  23. By far Sigala's best? What choo been smoking? ;) Each to their own... :P

This is a pretty stunning song actually, stands out on its own, liking the orchestral addition too (as subtle as it may be).
  25. I... actually kind of like this
