Retroactively Ranking ESC 1999-2019
Based on your Birgit comment I'm looking forward to seeing where Pernilla places, though on typing this I just remembered that's actually in Swedish - though you still very rarely hear that! I think Finnish is one of the most beautiful languages when coupled with music - along with Icelandic, and Estonian sounds nice too (based on Randajad).

How do you consume songs, playlists and collections in 2020?
A few questions I'm curious to know the consensus for! If you have any further input please add a post. - Do you (usually) play compilation playlists such as Hot Hits in order or on shuffle? - Do you (usually) create your own playlists? - Do you (usually) listen to ready-made compilation playlists? - What determines what you add to your own playlists? - Do you usually listen to artist albums, EPs and mixtapes? - Do you use apps such as Shazam to inform your listening selection? - Do you feel ready-made/curated playlists skew musical tastes and the charts?

It sounds like Estonia 2001 had a reboot. Well that won?

Completely missed this! Good track!

Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
"Overtime" was released early October 2018 and "Adore You" mid February 2019 so pretty standard gap between singles really (about 4 months). "Mirage" wasn't out until early November 2019 - she could've gotten pregnant and had a baby between "Adore You" and that! :D It's an era now anyway where we can just tack it on at the end of the album if we want. I very rarely tend to listen to the deluxe version of an album but this could be an exception (it'd surely be on a deluxe edition). "Spotlight" itself is glorious, gets better on each listen, a return to the A* grade of "Overtime" and "Adore You" (I'd give "Mirage" a B).

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 28th February 2020
The Gaga song is growing with each listen. On first listen it sounded like something that'd be used in a montage scene. If I'm honest I was expecting her to come back with a barnstormer somewhere between "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart" (Mark Ronson/Miley Cyrus) and "Physical" (Dua Lipa) and "Blinding Lights" (The Weeknd). Glad it's a grower anyway and hope she does well with it! The release of the week though is undoubtedly "Spotlight" by Jessie Ware. If that can make the top 100 that'd be great :D

Disclosure - Ecstasy EP
Pretty interesting take. Not sure how often I'd visit any of these singularly but as a group together it should be a good coherent piece of work.

It's crazy to think that the last time we had a hot streak was 97-99. Barely anything since has been above par.

Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
I am beyond unpleasured by the exclusion of "Overtime", the best upbeat song of her career to date! Looking forward to this nevertheless.

I forgot I was listening to it after the chorus kicked in, literally next to zero impression made. Oops.

Retroactively Ranking ESC 1999-2019
Omg. Forgot "The Dream" existed :puke2: can't relate to you at all on the vocal either, that was half the problem for me, just all round awful for me! Sorry! I grew to really quite like the Belgian entry in the lead up to the contest, then THAT happened on stage. Proper rabbit in the headlights awkwardness, poor lad. The Portuguese entry I wasn't really fussed with leading up to the contest nor at the contest, yet after the contest it really grew on me and I definitely wouldn't place it that low. Conversely the opposite happened to me with the Danish entry which for some reason I thought was a potential winner when I first heard it, but its twee-ness got to me in the end. Just no, thanks.

Disclosure - Ecstasy EP
Ah! Well I wouldn't call them particularly commercial, they just happened to have mainstream success. That's me though.

Disclosure - Ecstasy EP
If Disclosure started churning out the type of music we've been hearing from the likes of Joel Corry, Endor, Regard or Sigala then I'd be both very worried and disappointed. These guys are so much better than that. Really liking what I've heard from these 2 tracks, as well as what I heard on their iamspamspamamiset the other day :D

Disclosure - Ecstasy EP
Was listening to their iamspamspamamiset whilst we were eating dinner, was enjoying it! No idea if they played "Ecstasy", will check that out tomorrow.

The Strokes - The New Abnormal
Of the 2 so far it's certainly "At The Door" that grabs my attention. Really, really liking it.

Mabel doesn't excite me so I'm not bouncing off the walls but at the same time I'd be happy if this was announced :D (Am I the only one who'd actually love it to be Duffy now?)
-
United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2020
People aren't just throwing Mabel out there for any old reason though!

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2020
I heard Drake is rumoured with a song written by Guy Chambers. Really though there's no reason why we shouldn't be excited by a prospect. It's just a bit of fun guessing who it might be. It will be what it will be. And there are signs suggesting it could be Mabel. Out of the other legit suggestions I'm not sure who Radio 1 would care about?

Retroactively Ranking ESC 1999-2019
Can't even remember how Georgia's goes, but remember really not liking it. Also remember really not liking the Israeli entry too, though did actually enjoy his performance of it on the stage, and how much it meant to him. Both of these were certainly in my bottom 5 nonetheless of 2019. The other 3 were inoffensive but that's about it, so I can see why you've ranked them poorly.
