I absolutely LOVED "Hungry" at the time. Sian Evans has a great vocal, good for her that she ended up featuring on a number 1 hit a decade down the line.
  2. It's definitely something that you MUST listen to if you haven't yet. Certainly the best track I hadn't heard before 2020 so far this year. I had a very delayed introduction to Alabama Shakes and was simply wondering, surely a third album is on the way, which led me to discovering she'd gone solo for an album released only a few months ago, leading to this track :D

[surprised not to see a thread for this yet; also went with the 'Pop' label given to her music on Apple music in terms of which forum to post it in...] Celeste has been chosen as the BRIT Awards 'Rising Star' for 2020 and was also BBC Introducing Artist of the Year 2019. She has also been nominated for BBC's Sound Of 2020 accolade, which she has every chance of winning. There will be Adele comparisons. I suppose Jorja Smith wouldn't be a wrong comparison either. Perhaps she lies somewhere between the two. Also reminds me of when Corinne Bailey Rae burst onto the scene, but Celeste's music is more sultry. The current single "Strange" is absolutely stunning. Been loving it for a while now since first hearing it on Phil Taggart's Chillest Show on Radio 1. A1AJEv50Ld4 MrUPfAbMFio
  4. Surprised not to see anything about this album on here! I need to give it a listen but discovered one of the singles, "Stay High", yesterday and it is INCREDIBLE! I need to check out more Alabama Shakes too. Brittany has gone solo for this project. CfizQsGWOxI Album "Jaime" is named after her late sister. Track listing: 1. "History Repeats" 2. "He Loves Me" 3. "Georgia" 4. "Stay High" 5. "Tomorrow" 6. "Short and Sweet" 7. "13th Century Metal" 8. "Baby" 9. "Goat Head" 10. "Presence" 11. "Run to Me" Have also given "History Repeats" and "He Loves Me" a listen and they're good too.
  5. Oh wow fab! Both have had 2 number 1s on my chart this year; saw CamelPhat live in August and will be seeing Foals live next July :D
  6. Yes they were proper back on form for their comeback! It was all a bit of a coincidence for me, earlier in the year I'd been revisiting all their singles and listened to them a lot wishing they'd come back with something new, and then suddenly it happened, it was the right time for me!
  7. I'm probably missing a glaringly obvious album I loved but here goes: 2010 - The Pretty Reckless "Light Me Up" Highlight track: "Just Tonight" (Other notable albums from: Two Door Cinema Club, Kings of Leon) 2011 - Gotye "Making Mirrors" Highlight track: "Somebody That I Used To Know" (Other notable albums from: blink-182) 2012 - alt-J "An Awesome Wave" Highlight track: "Matilda" (Other notable albums from: Jessie Ware, fun., Michael Kiwanuka, The Lumineers) 2013 - Arctic Monkeys "AM" Highlight track: "Do I Wanna Know" (Other notable albums from: Fall Out Boy, Capital Cities, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, CHVRCHES, The 1975) 2014 - Damien Rice "My Favourite Faded Fantasy" Highlight track: "It Takes A Lot To Know A Man" (Other notable albums from: alt-J, Vance Joy, The Kooks, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Paolo Nutini, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jessie Ware, Coldplay) 2015 - Jamie xx "In Colour" Highlight track: "Gosh" (Other notable albums from: Fall Out Boy, Mumford & Sons, Years & Years, Sufjan Stevens) 2016 - The Lumineers "Cleopatra" Highlight track: "Ophelia" (Other notable albums from: The 1975, Michael Kiwanuka, Christine and the Queens, Bon Iver) 2017 - Linkin Park "One More Light" Highlight track: "Heavy" (Other notable albums from: Imagine Dragons, The xx, Portugal. The Man) 2018 - Razorlight "Olympus Sleeping" Highlight track: "Carry Yourself" (Other notable albums from: Arctic Monkeys, James Bay, The Kooks, The 1975, Capital Cities, Christine and the Queens) 2019 - Foals "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1" Highlight track: "Exits" (Other notable albums from: Bon Iver, FKA twigs, Michael Kiwanuka, Sam Fender, blink-182, Cigarettes After Sex, Foals, The Lumineers) 2011 was the hardest. My album of the year (and decade) was Chase & Status "No More Idols" and other than Adele "21" nothing else came close but I did enjoy the Gotye one having discovered him when he hit number 1 in Australia. On the pop front I also loved "Blue Neighbourhood" by Troye Sivan, "1989" by Taylor Swift, "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry and "Joanne" by Lady Gaga a lot.
  8. Haha just read through the other 'top 3 indie songs of the year' thread and looks like everyone has their own interpretation of what 'indie' is! It is really such an umbrella term like 'urban' isn't it, in 2019. Will have a proper think about this. I know my 2010 and 2019 albums for sure though.
  9. Nice idea! Are we going specifically indie or indie, rock, alternative?
  10. "Will We Talk?" has grown on me so much and has ended up claiming my Christmas number 1 of 2019, knocking Billie Eilish off! The ding dang dongs certainly helped I think
  11. It's no "Happy Holidays, You bast*rd!" (which I am counting as a Christmas song) but it is decent and growing on me with each listen! Will probably impact me more next Christmas though.
  12. My number 2, 3 and 5 (as it stands) of the year are there  Bon Iver "Hey Ma" takes it for me, from Foals "The Runner" and CamelPhat/Jake Bugg "Be Someone". All excellent. Mark Ronson ft Lykke Li "Late Night Feelings" should've been there though!
  13. Really like this, feels so out of the blue! Great to have her back.
  14. A bit horrified by the idea of the Chainsmokers collab but this should be good if the latest album is anything to go by!
  15. Already growing to really like this and look forward to the time it shuffles on again once it's finished. Will be one of my new years favourites as we go into 2020 I think.
  16. This is great, up there with her best ("When The Party's Over", "Bury A Friend"). "Bad Guy" never massively did it on those levels for me.
  17. Oh so, so good. Prefer the "Cellophane" performance from the Jimmy Fallon show, but still great, whilst "Mary Magdalene" with the sword dance was just captivating.
  18. Not getting into this like I thought I would on first listen, it's just washing over me. It's either too soon after the last album and/or "People" really, REALLY killed the momentum for me.
  19. I have a feeling this will follow a similar trajectory to Be Someone for me. A little underwhelmed to ending up loving it.
  20. I was wondering why it sounded so good in a club 🤔
  21. I'd hope not! Wonder how I'll receive this, ended up rinsing "Be Someone" after being initially underwhelmed - one of my tunes of the year now. Not been into him particularly much in the past.
  22. Oh sorry! I don't know why I thought I could do it before I subscribed. Looking at what you get for your subscription I think it's the only feature I actually use, other than look at the monthly and historical listening reports
  23. You can edit scrobbles. Try this: - go to the track’s last fm page - it will indicate how many times you’ve scrobbled that track. Click on that number - this will take you to the list of scrobbles with time stamps - click on the 3 vertical dots against one of the scrobbles - click 'Edit scrobble’ I think it’s called... - make your updates - tick to update all same scrobbles with your edit - save I’ve started doing this to combine versions of the same song on my last fm. I did also start subscribing recently but I think that was after I discovered you could do this!
