I actually haven't listened to l7 or sonic youth. Are they worthwhile?

I can't link yet, because I don't have enough posts. Older band that seems punk but is labeled grunge I think. I have long wished to play in a band that has the same fast rock feel. I wanted to post this, because it is obscure and cool, very different than what else I have seen on here.
