  1. They haven’t really managed to get attention in the UK, but in the US, Pentatonix has made an actual career out of Christmas music. Since 2012, they’ve put out either an EP or an album of Christmas songs every year. It’s quite the phenomenon.
  2. The most recent Voice winner went to #1 and was the #1 song in sales and ended up at #15 overall.
  3. Probably not. A song can make T100 with less than 100 DLs, closer to 50 or 60. Once you go past T250, you’re already getting close to single digits.
  4. Kind of odd the Kate Bush version is charting when the guy pretty much sang the Maxwell version.
  5. That’s due to Cardi B’s feature.
  6. Thanks. I wonder if Polydor would consider putting out studio versions all the way through the series as is done in the US.
  7. Would someone mind checking what label is credited on Ruti’s single. I’m curious if Polydor is getting in on the action now or ITV is getting the label cut from the song.
  8. It’s also a charity single, at least in the US. Partial proceeds going to fund this Saturday’s March For Our Lives.

These are the US rules: https://a2im.org/news/ticket-bundle-soundsc...ing-guidelines/ Two key points 1. There must be an option to unbundle at a lower price for ticket only. 2. Digital sales don’t count unless and until the consumer actually downloads the album.
  10. Because his label is promoting him primarily as a new artist with a potential hit song, not a talent show participant.
  11. Has a Voice UK winner ever had a proper single with a full label launch?

This thread is almost funny. Only a few years ago, iTunes and DLs were the new consumption mode that were going to ruin the industry. Now it’s the establishment and streaming is going to ruin it?
  13. Becky Hill tweeted that she will be opening the Saturday show with “Sing it Back” her colab with Pete Tong.
  14. I was shocked to find out that Pat Benatar wasn’t big in the U.K. Her videos practically sustained MTV when it started out.
  15. It is different. 5H might have been unknown in the UK, but they were several years into their US promotion and had a big hit under their belts. Prettymuch are virtually unknown in the US too. They’ve put out only one single. It flopped.
  16. Clocks turned back in the US?
  17. With very few exceptions, artists don’t decide when to release albums. Their labels do. And the big labels plan their Q4/holiday album rollout calendars with the precision of a military campaign. They’re not going to mess with it except under the most extreme circumstances.
  18. It depends what rights she gave up when she signed the XF contract. She might still get a share, but almost certainly not the full amount she would have gotten otherwise.
  19. The bigger problem is that iTunes sales are so low that some guy with more money than sense can so easily get a song charting.
  20. As long as the sales are paid for and the iTunes accounts are legitimate, what is the problem?
  21. The Mad Hatter video is here (finally!)
  22. Big name in K-pop
  23. Working backwards from the XF finale set for the first weekend of December and only 6 weeks of live shows this year, the first live shows should be the last weekend in October.
  24. That's the specific reason for the new format of a results show and elimination on both Saturday and Sunday once the live shows begin. Simon has said explicitly that the XF contestants aren't entertaining enough on their own and they need to bring in established talent to goose the ratings.
  25. And yet completely expected.
