  2. Great to see Amy Hunt take the gold medal in the 100m just now.

  4. I've confirmed something. I hope we get plenty of entries for this theme.
  5. Well done Tylky for that 39 score. Round 1: 33 Medicine Head Round 2: 36 Do Anything You Wanna Do 3 in 10: 3 Why, Nobody Does It Better, You're So Vain

I've not been watching much of The Hundred, it's a fairly meaningless competition. Nobody cares who wins it. I can see how it can appeal to families wanting a day out which explains how it still fills up the grounds. Instead, I've been watching Middlesex's 50 over matches on youtube. That was an exciting match against Durham today which they won right at the end thanks to three sixes from Toby Roland-Jones and Henry Brookes. It's good to see their young team top of group B with two matches left.
  7. Even though I'm not taking part, I will listen to the 14 minute song and the 37 minute song.
  8. Round 1: 36 Boyzone Round 2: 33 Pride (like the contestant, I could only remember 'In The Name Of Love') 3 in 10: 3 In Too Deep, No Son Of Mine, Land Of Confusion
  9. I've been keeping an eye on the discussion. Maybe the quality of long songs has declined since the Rolloland era. We did sneak into a BJSC spinoff earlier this year and won it with a nine minute song so there is clearly still a demand here for high quality long songs. Everybody, don't be put off continuing to enter long songs to the contest. If some entrants don't want to listen to them all the way through, then they are missing out.
  10. Well done Tylky for today's 39 and John for three more. Round 1: 33 Part Time, The Turtles Round 2: 33 Kylie Minogue, Groove 3 in 10: 2 Can The Can, 48 Crash
  11. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 21 First Class, Sing Baby Sing, the year, Kendricks 3 in 10: 3 Give Me The Night, Love x Love, In Your Eyes
  12. 4th-10th August 1966 34. More Than Love - Ken Dodd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkVpWgIudBg Another slow ballad, he doesn't really do anything else. I like the harp melody which is then taken up by the piano. 37. Just Like A Woman - Manfred Mann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtZhk9Bs28A A fresh start for the group on a new record label with a new lead singer. This cover of a Bob Dylan song has a prominent bass guitar throughout with some nice organ embellishments in the background. Record of the week : 38. Hanky Panky - Tommy James and the Shondells A debut hit for this group is the best of today's three songs. The lyrics are repetitive but I like the raw garage rock sound and the whole thing is recorded live in one take. The single will go no higher than this position, spending five weeks between 38 and 40. It will, however, reach number 1 in the US where they will have fourteen top 40 hits but just one more to come in the UK.

That list is people coming together for one song. Sonny & Cher don't count as they were a regular pair. Queen and David Bowie can't be included as Queen were a group.
  14. Round 1: 24 The Dickies, the year, Tonight I Celebrate My Love, The Doobie Brothers Round 2: 33 Automatically Sunshine 3 in 10: 1 Survivor

  19. Round 1: 36 Tracks Of My Years Round 2: 39 💥 Tie-break: 6 out of 6 3 in 10: 3 One Small Day, Lament, We Came To Dance
  20. Congratulations, Nine. I'm sure you'll be a good fit for the Lounge.
  21. Another album for 28th August: Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery - The Roaring Waves The guitarists from Genesis and Marillion have combined for an instrumental album. I think it's the first collaboration of the two groups since Fish did a single with Tony Banks in 1986.
  22. Round 1: 36 Raydio Round 2: 27 The year, The Faces, You Gave Me Love 3 in 10: 2 Nothing Ever Happens, Always The Last To Know
