  4. 32. Mariah Carey - Hero 199pts Writers - Mariah Carey, Walter Afanasieff Top points - Campbell 25, AaronTM 22, CowTzy 22 Hero was originally written for a film soundtrack and was intended for Gloria Estefan to sing but Mariah Carey liked it so much she kept it for herself, changing some of the lyrics. 5. 33. Roy Orbison - I Drove All Night 195pts Writers - Billy Steinberg, Tom Kelly Top points - Julian_ 23, Leonardo 22, Mark223 22 This is the highest placed wild card. Cyndi Lauper's version finished 30th in the other semi-final but had a lower score, 190 points, so I think we'll call this a draw. Jeff Lynne took Roy's vocal from his 1987 recording and added a fresh production. The song was also a hit for Celine Dion, reaching number 27 in 2003.

Madonna - Rain 185pts Writers - Madonna, Shep Pettibone Top points - marcinjaro 25, detonate 25, Mango 24, vibe 24 Speaking of which, Madonna loses her second song which means that only one of the five songs by her in the semi-finals has gone through to the final.
