  7. 52. Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman 90pts Writer - Jimmy Webb Top points - King Rollo 23, AH Gold 22, Jaz13music 20 The two voters who both gave this 30 points in the first round didn't vote in this semi-final so this doesn't do as well as it could have done. It was the first UK hit single for Glen Campbell who went on to have three number 4 hits and one number 3. Bob Dylan and Stuart Maconie have both singled it out as being the greatest song ever written.

It was the first single release by the trio that Duran Duran had been reduced to following the departure of Roger and Andy Taylor. Nile Rodgers co-produced the song as well as playing some guitars.

  25. 18th - 24th February 1965 24. I Must Be Seeing Things - Gene Pitney The story here is that he can't believe his girl has gone off with his best friend. The orchestral sound complements his passionate vocals effectively. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVeRJXy-hRI 37. Your Hurtin' Kind Of Love - Dusty Springfield That last sentence could be applied to this one as well (with 'her' replacing 'his'). It will be a relative failure for Dusty, not going any higher than 37. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehbbMpAEcBE Record of the week : 26. Come And Stay With Me - Marianne Faithfull All three songs are new to me and this one has made the best impression. There's a nice bit of harpsicord at the start and the rest of the song has a folk/pop sound to it with an assured vocal from Marianne who we lost just a few weeks ago. Her second hit single, it will go as high as number 4.
