The hook of the chorus stands out but not much else remarkable about it. 35. Blue Turns To Grey - Cliff Richard and The Shadows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNlHkzW-R48 A cover of a Rolling Stones song which had been recorded by two other artists before the Stones' own version came out. It goes along nicely at a good pace but, like the first song today, there's not a lot to it. 36. 634-5789 - Wilson Pickett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSGuaVAufV0 I don't think there are too many chart hits with just numbers in the title. It's another soulful vocal display from Wilson with the backing vocalists singing the phone number. 38. Someday One Day - The Seekers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adAdRbmhYx8 While their first three singles all reached the top 3, this one will only get to number 11. A strong vocal once again from Judith Durham and it's interesting to see the Sydney Opera House still under construction. 39. You Won't Be Leaving - Herman's Hermits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpQ0b5Ye1KE So his girlfriend didn't just come round to his house to look at the pictures on his wall, she came to stay the night is the gist of this one. It was OK. Record of the week : 40. Tijuana Taxi - Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass This is just a happy instrumental which should put a smile on the face of anyone who listens to it. It's mainly the trumpet and xylophone with that comical car horn sounded a few times. It's Herb Alpert's third top 40 hit and will only get to number 37.

It was reissued in 1992 to promote the 'Best... I' compilation album released by the new owners of their back catalogue, WEA, and gave the group their highest peak position on the singles chart. Two scores of 50 mean that it wins a tie-break over 'Time Is Running Out'.

Katrina and the Waves - Walking On Sunshine 1107pts Writer - Kimberley Rew Top scores - ...ready for it 47, AaronTM 42, vibe 39 Low scores - Scone1 2, dandy* 4, rio309 7, danG 7 Average score - 25.7 It was all about consistency for Walking On Sunshine with only two people putting it in their top 10 and just five in their bottom 10. An earlier 1983 version was released as a single and didn't chart, this is a 1985 re-recording. The group famously went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK in 1997.

An earlier version had been recorded for Michael's 1978 'Off The Wall' album but didn't make the cut. The Cameroonian musician Manu Dibango received an out of court settlement after claiming that the hook from his song 'Soul Makossa' had been used without his permission.

Bananarama - Cruel Summer 1099pts Writers - Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, Steve Jolley, Tony Swain, Keren Woodward Top scores - Mango 50, Yog1963 49, GreyAsh 49, AH Gold 49 Low scores - CowTzy 2, Scone1 4, jimwatts 6 Average score - 25.5 From the summer of 1983, this was Bananarama's fifth top 10 single. It also reached the Billboard top 10 the following year after featuring in the film 'The Karate Kid'. A remix returned the song to the top 20 in 1989 while a cover version by Ace Of Base got to number 8 in 1998 (scoring 25 points in the first round).

From his next album, I love 'You're A Big Girl Now' and from the third one, 'Feel Like Change'. There's also an early single called 'More Than The Sun', I don't think it's on Spotify but it can be found on youtube (the 1984 version is much better than the 1982 one). Colin was certainly one of the best vocalists from the 80s.

He moved to Ireland but sadly died in 2016, two weeks after a car accident.

Reap The Wild Wind is good but I prefer the next two singles to come from the Quartet album. Hard To Say I'm Sorry and Just What I Always Wanted are my other two picks from that batch.

As a novelty record, I don't mind Star Trekkin. I watched the repeats of Star Trek in the 1970s so could appreciate the humour in it. I do like Reet Petite but don't think I would have put it much higher than this.

The result was a US number 1 single. It finishes 147 points ahead of Shocking Blue's original version.
