  1. Well done John on the double. Round 1: 39 Round 2: 30 The Puppy Song (I said Puppy Dog), the year 3 in 10: 3 Respect, Who's Zooming Who, I Knew You Were Waiting For Me
  2. Cliff Richard was the one in the top 4 that I had forgotten but I did work out it must be him shortly afterwards. Consistency for all 10 years counts for a lot, I suppose.
  3. Rolloland has voted.
  4. Jeff didn't object to ELO Part II being formed but it was on the condition that Kelly Groucutt would not be allowed to be a part of it. Kelly had taken Jeff to court after leaving ELO in 1983 for royalty payments and won the case. Bev did allow Kelly into Part II for their second album and tour so that's when the fallout started. They haven't spoken to each other since then. Bev did say nice things about Jeff when he was doing his monthly youtube programme a few years ago so it's kind of a one sided animosity now. I don't think Jeff hates Roy, it's just the other six people who were in the group in the mid to late 70s, apart from Richard Tandy who was part of Jeff's new band until he was too ill to carry on.

Good to see one Brit is through to the quarter-finals.
  7. Jeff broke his hand in a car accident while travelling in a taxi in London. The people on the ELO forum who were at the concert last night report that he couldn't play his guitar and looked a bit lost without it, not knowing where to put his hands. They said that his vocals were good. Dhani Harrison sang his father's parts on the two Traveling Wilbury songs, 'Handle With Care' and 'End Of The Line'. 'ELO at the BBC' was disappointing last night. They only showed clips from concerts and events shown on the BBC from 2014-2019. It looks like Jeff must have blocked them from showing anything from the 1970s and 1980s, he hates the former members that much. Even the fact captions they show at the bottom of the screen for each song didn't mention any of their names.
  8. No big favourites of mine here but I think the top 3 are the right ones followed by My Oh My and My World.
  9. I think we've all worked out that Aha was Bjork.
  10. A shame to see Aha go out. I think The Sun Always Shines On TV would have been good enough to get them through to the semi-final.
  11. OK, thanks.
  12. Calum, is it one song for the semi-final and one for the final if we get through?
  13. Great to see the Pet Shop Boys are through to the semi-final!
  14. I thought Michael Jackson would be in the top 2 as well. I can only think of three of the remaining four, I wonder who I have forgotten?
  15. That's a great choice for a number 1 song from 1972 with lyrics that are still relevant. It's good to see 10538 Overture in the top 10. It's ELO night on BBC2 tonight so that's sure to be heard at least once. It's one new programme, 'ELO at the BBC', followed by three that have been shown before. This is all to mark Jeff Lynne's ELO's short farewell tour which starts this evening in Manchester and finishes in Hyde Park next Sunday. Maybe Jeff might invite Roy and Bev to join him on stage either in Birmingham or London for a moment, it will be his last chance to bury the hatchet with Bev but knowing how stubborn he is, I think it's unlikely to happen.
  16. Yes, I agree with that last point. We've had songs by Little Mix, Lady Gaga and Charli XCX, who all have artist forums, being sneaked in. If this happens again next year, I think all the songs should only be by the singer as the lead artist.
  17. Spirit Of Radio by Rush is the best song here, I'd put it second place in their discography behind the epic twenty minute track 2112. After that would be Turn It On Again by Genesis, part of the six track 'Duke' suite which is spread across the Duke album instead of being six consecutive tracks. It became a live favourite, often being part of the encore. Echo Beach and Poison Ivy are the best of the rest.

What a tension filled set of tennis that was! Sabalenka was just too good at the end of the tie-break.
  19. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 39 💥 3 in 10: 3 The Best, We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome), Steamy Windows
  20. Round 1: 24 Billy Paul, The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me, In A Lifetime Round 2: 27 Daryl Hall and John Oates, the year, Shine 3 in 10: 3 Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Victims, Time (Clock Of The Heart)

    The comeback begins.
  22. Well done John on the double 39. Round 1: 36 The year Round 2: 24 Dionne Warwick, S Club Party, Temptation 3 in 10: 3 He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, I'm Alive, Bus Stop

  24. I would also have put Atomic and Turning Japanese at the top of the list. Blondie's best song and a new wave classic from The Vapors. So Lonely, Cuba and Hands Off, She's Mine are the best of the rest.
  25. Blondie - Atomic The Vapors - Turning Japanese Rush - The Spirit Of Radio Genesis - Turn It On Again Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach
