  1. I only gave Together a 3, one of my lowest scores.
  2. I think there will be a theme. However, for options A and C, be warned that... Or does that refer to one of the rounds in the live shows?
  3. Round 1: 36 At Midnight Round 2: 27 The Three Degrees, Let Loose, Hey Ya 3 in 10: 3 So Lonely, Invisible Sun, King Of Pain
  4. Ipswich Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City Arsenal 2-0 Everton Coventry City 1-1 Fulham Chelsea 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Crystal Palace 2-2 Newcastle United Hull City 0-1 Brentford Liverpool 2-2 Brighton & Hove Albion Manchester United 1-1 AFC Bournemouth Sunderland 1-1 Leeds United
  5. I did consider ABC as my act so it's good to see they are one of the Golden Wagners. I'm voting for them.
  6. I'm surprised that finished bottom. I gave it a score of 6.5. I always thought it was written specifically for the Olympic Games and was one of the official songs, like the Muse one. It looks like the Olympics just adopted it as it was out at the same time. I do remember it being played before the two events I attended, womens' handball and womens' volleyball. Those were the only two sports that I managed to get a ticket for.
  7. Round 1: 33 Rolling In The Deep Round 2: 33 Aha 3 in 10: 2 Cornflake Girl, Professional Widow

An extraordinary match in Rawalpindi, England captain Harry Brook hits the fastest double century in a One Day International, scoring 202 from 116 balls, beating a record that was set just a few weeks ago by Shubman Gill for India. He still ends up on the losing side with Sri Lanka chasing down a target of 430 with one ball left. It's the second highest successful run chase in an ODI.
  9. You're not the only one who does it that way. I also PM myself with the scoreboards when I'm hosting a contest.
  10. Well done Geraint for today's 39. Round 1: 36 Simply Red Round 2: 39 💥 3 in 10: 3 Run To You, Somebody, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
  11. We all got 39 on round 2 today, well done. Round 1: 30 U2, Licenced To Kill, Katie Melua Round 2: 39 💥 Tie-break : 6 out of 8 3 in 10: 3 We Are Family, Frankie, He's The Greatest Dancer
  12. 20th - 26th October 1966 29. If I Were A Carpenter - Bobby Darin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST00QH8vOg0 Bobby's first top 40 hit since 1963 but it will also be his last one. Written by Tim Hardin, whose own version is yet to be released, it's a delicate ballad with acoustic guitars and a flute solo. Very good. 38. A Fool Am I (Dimmelo Parlame) - Cilla Black https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f63zYsPIb54 An Italian song translated into English for Cilla to cover and there is an operatic style to it with quiet verses and a big chorus with her vocal and the orchestra at full pelt. Record of the week : 39. I Love My Dog - Cat Stevens It was close between 'If I Were A Carpenter' and this one but I've chosen Cat Stevens' debut hit. I like the use of lots of different musical instruments throughout the song. The lyrics were inspired by his family's dog, Pepe. The single will peak at number 28 for two weeks.
  13. I'll be there at 8pm. I'm watching Eastenders first.
  14. 1st Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again (Rolloland's 50th anniversary BJSC entry) 2nd New Order - Regret (the best song from the Republic album) 3rd Texas - Summer Son 4th Bananarama - I Want You Back 5th Fountaines D.C. - Favourite 6th Sade - Kiss Of Life
  15. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 30 Minute, My Soul 3 in 10: 3 Leave Right Now, Evergreen, The Long And Winding Road
  16. 1st Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights 2nd Robyn & Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat 3rd Adele - Skyfall 4th Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder on the Dancefloor 5th Marina, Aquamarina - Oh No! 6th Zara Larsson & Mnek - Never Forget You Another 1st place for Kate Bush from me with a classic but Robyn is not far behind. There aren't many no.1 singles that don't have a verse/chorus structure so to have one as late as 2007 was very refreshing. The only dilemma I had was which song to put in 3rd place but the Adele one has a bit more ambition to it. Sorry to keep putting Zara last but all her songs have been painful to listen to.
  17. Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels Trans-X - Living On Video Dire Straits - Money For Nothing Gary Moore - Empty Rooms Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Secret

That's a shame Sonay couldn't quite put her away, she was playing so well to be 6-2 2-0 up but in a big final, there's always going to be a comeback by the opponent. She was running out of energy in that final set. It's still been a great week for her.
  19. 1st Gary Numan & Tubeway Army - Down in the Park 2nd Bobby Darin - En apa som liknar dig 3rd Sam Fender - Will We Talk 4th Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith - La La La 5th Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love 6th Tom Grennan - Little Bit Of Love The top 3 were all quite good, the other three were awful. The Calvin Harris song from the six chair round is my favourite from him so that would have got a good score from me.

Sonay wins 7-6 7-6. Jelena was a mixture of big winners and unforced errors while Sonay was much more solid and mentally strong, saving set points in both sets.

She's won the first set on a tie-break 11-9. Hopefully, she can keep that momentum going into the second set. Predictably, Jelena's taken a bathroom break.
  22. Thanks both and well done John for today's 39. Round 1: 36 Mayfield Round 2: 36 The year 3 in 10: 3 Hip To Be Square, The Power Of Love, Stuck With You
  23. Everton 1-1 Chelsea Brentford 2-2 Liverpool Fulham 1-0 Hull City Manchester City 3-0 Ipswich Town Newcastle United 2-1 Aston Villa AFC Bournemouth 2-1 Sunderland Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 Crystal Palace Leeds United 1-1 Manchester United Nottingham Forest 0-2 Arsenal Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Coventry City
  24. Sorry, it was just me being a grumpy old man when I like music from a time when almost every artist was talented enough to create music on their own without having to constantly seek help from other acts because they are lacking in inspiration. If you take the Robyn song, for example, and we were all able to vote, do we base our score just on her vocal or do we base it on the music as well which is from Royksopp who are a group who are not in the contest, I'm always a bit uncertain what to do when I'm voting. The same would have applied to Clean Bandit and Zara. The songs from the eliminated acts, Agnes and Leona, were solo songs in the solo female category recorded with the musicians that they had backing them at the time so I just feel they were more in the spirit of the contest. That's just my opinion anyway, no need to change the rules just for me.
