  1. Well done Tylky for today's 39 and John for three more. Round 1: 33 Part Time, The Turtles Round 2: 33 Kylie Minogue, Groove 3 in 10: 2 Can The Can, 48 Crash
  2. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 21 First Class, Sing Baby Sing, the year, Kendricks 3 in 10: 3 Give Me The Night, Love x Love, In Your Eyes
  3. 4th-10th August 1966 34. More Than Love - Ken Dodd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkVpWgIudBg Another slow ballad, he doesn't really do anything else. I like the harp melody which is then taken up by the piano. 37. Just Like A Woman - Manfred Mann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtZhk9Bs28A A fresh start for the group on a new record label with a new lead singer. This cover of a Bob Dylan song has a prominent bass guitar throughout with some nice organ embellishments in the background. Record of the week : 38. Hanky Panky - Tommy James and the Shondells A debut hit for this group is the best of today's three songs. The lyrics are repetitive but I like the raw garage rock sound and the whole thing is recorded live in one take. The single will go no higher than this position, spending five weeks between 38 and 40. It will, however, reach number 1 in the US where they will have fourteen top 40 hits but just one more to come in the UK.

That list is people coming together for one song. Sonny & Cher don't count as they were a regular pair. Queen and David Bowie can't be included as Queen were a group.
  5. Round 1: 24 The Dickies, the year, Tonight I Celebrate My Love, The Doobie Brothers Round 2: 33 Automatically Sunshine 3 in 10: 1 Survivor
  6. Congratulations Dan, I put your song in 7th place. Good to see my 12 pointer finish 4th. Very pleased with a 3rd place for my own song, thanks to all who voted for it. Thanks AllStar for hosting.
  7. Thanks Cody for that 12 point score.
  8. Thanks to all those who have voted for Sea Tides so far, especially DaTilt for the 12 points.
  9. If there is any green algae found in the swimming pool, will Trump have all the swimmers arrested?
  10. Round 1: 36 Tracks Of My Years Round 2: 39 💥 Tie-break: 6 out of 6 3 in 10: 3 One Small Day, Lament, We Came To Dance
  11. Congratulations, Nine. I'm sure you'll be a good fit for the Lounge.
  12. Another album for 28th August: Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery - The Roaring Waves The guitarists from Genesis and Marillion have combined for an instrumental album. I think it's the first collaboration of the two groups since Fish did a single with Tony Banks in 1986.
  13. Round 1: 36 Raydio Round 2: 27 The year, The Faces, You Gave Me Love 3 in 10: 2 Nothing Ever Happens, Always The Last To Know
  14. Great work, DaTilt, and Fade To Grey is a fantastic song which never sounds out of date. This is my own top 20 from the year: 1. Ultravox - Vienna 2. ELO - Twilight 3. Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight 4. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Souvenir 5. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Joan Of Arc 6. Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure 7. Visage - Fade To Grey 8. Laurie Anderson - O Superman 9. Ultravox - All Stood Still 10. Abba - One Of Us 11. Ultravox - The Thin Wall 12. Jon & Vangelis - I'll Find My Way Home 13. Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin - It's My Party 19. Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime 20. Teardrop Explodes - Reward
  15. Voted, there was a fairly even standard throughout so I wasn't able to include all the good ones in my vote.
  16. Round 1: 36 Honaloochie Round 2: 30 Elastica, My Simple 3 in 10: 3 Rasputin, Belfast, Rivers Of Babylon
  17. Well done John for today's double 39. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 30 This Old Heart Of Mine, James Dean 3 in 10: 3 Who's Zooming Who, Respect, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves
  18. 28th July - 3rd August 1966 29. I Love How You Love Me - Paul and Barry Ryan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QCWu3Pw678 A cover of a song from 1961 by The Paris Sisters. It starts with a burst of bagpipes and they can be heard throughout most of the song which otherwise is a standard guitar pop tune so quite an unusual addition which at least makes it memorable. 38. I Saw Her Again - The Mamas And The Papas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A1pp9eqeXU This is not as good as their first two hits but there's still plenty to like with the reliable vocal harmonies, a pulsating rhythm and a string based instrumental break. 39. Ain't Too Proud To Beg - The Temptations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmHUfrcIJyI The Temptations first UK top 40 hit has that typical Motown sound with a mid-tempo rhythm but is missing an ingredient to make it stand out. Record of the week : 34. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys This is the week that England won the World Cup and we have a record of the week worthy of marking the occasion. There are many musical instruments being played here but each one is utilised in just the right place and it never feels cluttered while the vocals are simply magical. The single will spend two weeks at number 2.
  19. Round 1: 33 Stray Cats (I also went for Stray Cat Strut), the year Round 2: 33 The Rubettes 3 in 10: 2 I Don't Want A Lover, Black Eyed Boy
  20. Ultravox - Lament Queen - It's A Hard Life Tears For Fears - Mothers Talk Depeche Mode - Master And Servant Malcolm McLaren - Madam Butterfly (Un Bel Di Vedremo) (Big In Japan just misses out)
  21. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 30 The year, Tap Turns On The Water Tie-break: 1 out of 2 3 in 10: 3 Confide In Me, Better The Devil You Know, Spinning Around

  23. Thanks. Round 1: 36 Mother And Child Reunion Round 2: 39 💥 3 in 10: 3 Dancing Girls, Human Racing, The Riddle
  24. Yes, the wiki page for the song did say that he sang the chorus at the end of his TV show as it contained the line "when will we meet again".
  25. Thanks, and well done John on two more 39s. Round 1: 39 💥 Round 2: 36 My Best Friend 3 in 10: 3 Angelo, Figaro, Save Your Kisses For Me
