Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 8 Single - 2nd Semi-Final Results
50. Everything But The Girl - Wrong 92pts Writers - Tracey Thorn, Ben Watt Top points - AH Gold 19, Jester 17, Liamski689 16 'Wrong' was jszmiles' wild card but he didn't vote in this semi-final so it can't avoid a Monday exit. It was the third in a run of three consecutive top 10 hits for the duo from Hull in the mid 90s to add to their first one, 'I Don't Want To Talk About It' which had reached number 3 in 1988.

54. Moby - James Bond Theme (Moby's Re-Version) 47pts Writer - Monty Norman Top points - gasman449 25, CowTzy 17, dandy* 3 The James Bond Theme was written for the first Bond film, 'Dr. No', in 1962. Moby's 1997 remix appeared on the soundtrack to 'Tomorrow Never Dies'. It was his highest peaking single up to that point and was subsequently beaten just once to that title, by 'Porcelain' in 2000, which reached number 5. Moby released his 23rd studio album last Friday.

Winter Olympic Country Manager 2026
I'm happy with 3rd place as I was the eighth person to pick a country. The hosts always do better than they usually would so I thought Italy would be a good choice. Thanks Mack for running this. I think it just needs the medals from the last day to be added on which could affect some of the other final positions.

dandy* ranks the UK #1 singles of 1979
Cars was the first single I ever bought. The same applies to Don't Bring Me Down by ELO as I bought them both at the same time in WH Smith. They were at number 1 and number 3 in the chart that week. I Don't Like Mondays was quite ambitious in its arrangement for what was essentially a punk band. I think I would put it around 6th place as well. Sunday Girl is quite good but not one of my favourite Blondie singles.

I'm not a big fan of the Bee Gees either but Tragedy is one of their songs I like. Message In A Bottle is better than Walking On The Moon certainly. I would put them both in mid-table positions so I think they are in the right place here.

My record of the week 60 years ago
17th - 23rd February 1966 35. Barbara Ann - The Beach Boys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wvx14Qv9cg I like many songs by the Beach Boys but not this one. It's from an album of cover versions recorded live at their studio while a party was going on so it's no more than an impromptu singalong. It will, however, give them their biggest hit so far, reaching number 3. 36. Make The World Go Away - Eddy Arnold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq0Ri9e6SY0 A dull country style ballad which is out of place this late into the 1960s. His next two singles will just miss the top 40. He sold 85 million records but I haven't heard of him so maybe he's only known to country music fans. 39. This Golden Ring - The Fortunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ7NbXwWkzc This is OK but nothing that I'm going to remember for too long. It's their third hit but there will now be a gap of five years before we get to the next one. Record of the week : 38. Inside-Looking Out - The Animals The Animals first single since a switch of labels from Columbia to Decca is this heavy rock song, have they actually invented heavy metal without even knowing it? There's some great guitar work along with the drums and organ and Eric Burdon has the right sort of powerful vocal style to carry a song like this along with some wailing from the other members. The single will peak at number 12.
