Band Aid may block that number #1 but then Ed has created some negative headlines around it so who knows? I do think this year everyone has been a bit more coy when it comes to Christmas songs. Maybe cos last year felt a bit overdosed by them by the time Christmas was over. Like so far only Wham and Mariah in the top 40 when the equivalent of last years chart there was 5 in the top 40. Now there’s Christmas tree switch ons happening I’m sure it’ll start to ramp up though.

I’ve just seen an article where Ed Sheeran said he was not asked permission for the use of his voice on the new Band Aid 40 and had he been asked he would have “respectfully” declined because his understanding of the narrative associated has changed. Explained to him by Fuse ODG as he says it perpetuates damaging stereotypes stifling Africa’s economy tourism and investment. I’m in two minds on this. I completely understand that opinion and also how especially now the look of rich singers boosting their own profiles at the expense of lives is not a good look. But then isn’t it a bit refusing help when it’s most needed? It just feels wrong to turn our backs on a developing part of the world while we live in luxury just incase we offend them? Or in the hope we might fancy a holiday there?

Ed Sheeran’s total is on the Tuesday too. I think there’s every chance she could be 1st or 2nd on that list I went to the pop up yesterday after work. Got there at 5pm and was in by 6pm. It just seems a bit low considering it's had nearly 20 million streams on spotify plus whatever else it's done. When you have Deeper Shade of Blue, Stomp and It's the Way crossing over silver certifications when their original sales were very low and their streams being a lot lower then Tragedy. I find strange considering I remember 20 years ago Heartbeat/Tragedy being on about 1.1million. I would have put it on 1.4million by now.

The Tragedy one seems off to me, I thought it was on that amount for the last 5 years?

I thought that original contract was with the original line up (before Lee, Faye and Claire joined)?

How do you stream an album to count towards the charts? Is it playing 10 straight songs from the album in a row secures 1 whole album stream and then 100 streams count as 1 sale? I'm so lost with streaming and how it works in charts! If this is the case though, then when you look at the streams for the respective album songs (that haven't already been released prior to the album) Little Mix seem to be around 15,000 average per song and Kylie seems to be on 5000 average per song on yesterdays streams. What that means in terms of adding to the sales total I don't know. Also, I'm guessing these are world-wide streams so who knows what the UK figure is.

They didn't have a lot of b-sides but In It For Love, Just Like The First Time, Stop Me From Loving You and Bittersweet were my favourites. There were some special ones from their tours too like R Dancing and Close To Me. H and Claire had some lovely b-sides, mainly, Over You and Don't Give Up (Don't Let Go) Lisa also had I'm Burning and That's That They would be my pick.
