  1. Steps are the first British boy/girl group to get #1 albums in the 3 consecutive decades And they've beaten Take That, Spice Girls and Boyzone who failed to get to #1 with their post-reunion Greatest Hits
  2.       I'm So Happy!!!
  3. Could this make it a whole year in the top 40 :o (minus one week at #43)

Is it possible as well that Steps have been under-rated a little. At the time, they were seen as naff, and yes they still are. But for those who aren't avid fans, to hear tracks like Last Thing On My Mind, One For Sorrow, Deeper Shade of Blue and It's the Way You Make Me Feel - they are actually very well crafted pop songs. As well as having the cheesefests 5,6,78 and Tragedy. I can't help but draw comparasions to Abba in this way - of course ABBA are a different beast entirely - they did write their own songs and were clever musicians as well as singers. But who would have predicted in the 70's we would still be listening to ABBA today and would be adopted as national treasures. Again I'm not saying Steps are gonna be timeless (though that would be rather lovely) but when they split 10 years ago - did anyone really think their music could be so reawakened to a new generation?

This had better happen, we need some updated sales info!

I don't think X Factor is gonna help Adele suddenly boost over 4,000 album sales, especially as they would all have to be done as downloads, which means it would benefit her singles more than album sales. She does have a general weekend effect though, which could help her get pass Evanescence, I think with the buzz surrounding Steps and their tour (they added another 02 date which already looks like its selling out), could help with people buying the album to get in the mood for the tour, so to speak (not sure if I'm wording that right so I hope you know what I mean)

The ticketmaster album thing, a) you had to buy the album as an mp3 in addition to the tickets if you wanted pre-sale tickets and b) I think I read somewhere that it was being supported by amazon, where that was those, I can't remember

I'm sure they'd be on so much more had stores stocked up on this. Next week could be interesting. I can't believe we might see a Steps vs Noel Gallagher. 90's really are back!

This means if Steps are indeed #1 on Sunday, then I think they'll be the first British Boy/Girl group to get #1 albums in 3 consecutive decades. It also means they would have beaten Take That, Spice Girls and Boyzone who failed to reach #1 with their post-reunion Greatest Hits albums (get well soon Mikey :) )

Steps were just on Lorraine and they said they were 800 copies away from the #1 Not sure if that was from yesterdays midweek or if they've already been given todays

I think it's something I've always done with them, not sure why, just their name lends very well to doing it. I'll stop if you want. Anyway, If Steps do get to #1 with this album. Does anyone know if they would be the first British Boy/Girl group to have #1 albums in 3 consecutive decades?

The album isn't "almost entirely of covers" - I counted 6 out of 20 tracks (I guess it's 8 if you think Stomp is a sort of cover and Deeper Shade of Blue is a cover of Tina Cousins but I'm not sure if that was actually released?)

That, and IF this did chart, it would ruin their consecutive top 5 streak

This will come down to the wire I think, but if STEPS are pulling away from Adele, then that makes me happy that they really should go top 3 whatever the outcome. I think STEPS will have the Saturday sales edge at least on Evanescence. And they have the TV show tonight and Lorraine, wish they had something else as well

WOW! We know the whole top 10 albums! And yah for Steps still being #2 - hope they can climb to the #1 position

STEPS have got the advantage with the Reunion show on tomorrow night - so more promotion, and their on Lorraine on Friday - singing Deeper Shade of Blue, not sure if they have anything else planned. Matt #5, thats not going to go down well really. Though I have to admit, its the type of song that I think will fit very well with an album, but as a single, it's a bit boring

Apparently they're 2.3K away from the #1 - whatever that is. Someone said on Popjustice Also - Amazon and other online retailers are out of stock and someone heard many stores are out of stock too. I think many have underestimated STEPS appeal.

YES YES YES!!! And I GOT TO MEET THEM ALL TODAY!!! Went down to This Morning!! I am so happy I can not tell you! Had such a brilliant time and made new friends too! WAHHH!!! Got the album signed by Faye and Lee, hugged and had a pic taken with Claire, I didn't get to speak to H and Lisa - there were so many people and I'm only little!
  24. OMG!! I'm feeling so sorry for this song! I can't believe I'm feeling sorry for a song!
  25. I get what you mean dannjohn3 but you've got to look at it from their point of view - 3 of them went from having a massively successful job, to none at all. Going from earning millions, to earning nothing and having to start back up again. It's easy to forget how huge they really were. Very few acts can manage the consistency in sales of records, and they were at the top of their game when it came to touring. I think it was the space of 3 years (from the theatre tour to the steps into christmas tour) that they managed 1 million concert tickets. And sometimes the more successful you are, the harder the fall is.
