That is incredible. I wonder if there is a chance this year they'll clear 20 million? And thanks Sceneofsixcrimes

^ Well they did have a little help from Louis as well - anyone Irish would get a boost from him. But I do agree with that one as well, I loved it last year when Dannii made Simon squirm when it was down to Oli and Jedward - it was the ultimate revenge for when Simon chose Jedward over Lucie - and then to actually say "because it's a singing competition" and kept Oli in. But it really did show Simon up and I have a lot of respect for Dannii on doing that.

I don't think its a case of who deserves success - I think both ways do - if you are talented enough, and you work hard enough, then yeah I think you deserve success - don't get jaded that getting on these shows is a lazy way of being successful. I mean out of all of the contestants that audition - how many really make it? Next year will be 10 years of these talent shows being on and only the girls from Hear'say, Will Young, Girls Aloud, Sam and Mark, Leona, Alexandra, JLS, and Joe (though this needs to be tested) are still around having alot of success, there are others that are hanging in there like Jedward but most have disappeared competely. Those that I mentioned have stayed around because they took charge of their careers - look at Sam and Mark and the girls from Hear'Say - none of them are making music anymore - but are still being successful in their own right. I always wonder though, many well known comedians from the 70's were found on a TV talent show called New Faces I think, and many are still around today - people like Roy Walker, Michael Barrymore, Victora Wood, Lenny Henry and Joe Pasquale came from that show - though no one would know about it now. Because they auditioned and won a TV show - does this mean they are not allowed success? Like you said - they would have got countless of free publicity on prime time television, while other comedians work their socks off in pubs and other small venues for months in the hope they might make it. So I ask you, who is more deserving of success?

All X Factor live performances to be 'available for download
The way I see it, even if this hapens and they are able to chart, I really can't see many actually making the top 40 let alone the top 10. For a start, although for example Glee gets a 15th of the audience X Factor gets, the amount of songs released from them each week is roughly 3 i think. Whereas X Factor could have 12-16 (and go down from there each week). Most of these songs won't make the top 75, a few could make the top 40 and a couple may scrape the top 20 - but it'll be the special moments like Alexandra's "Listen", Joe's "Don't Stop Believing" and Ruth's "Purple Rain" that would impact the top 10 and make a play for a top 3 position. There's probably less than a 1000 people that will buy all these tracks week in week out. I guess they'll be alot that willl buy a couple of tracks and some fanbases are going to be bigger than others. But really, I don't think (certainly in the beginning of the competiton) many of these songs will impact. And I reckon Simon Cowell knows this - but also knows he'll get a lot from the performances that make an impact - the ones where you go into work on a Monday morning and say "Did you see so-and-so sing Blah Blah on X Factor? WOW!" - but really how many of them do you get a season?

Best Selling Girlband: UK Sales
I don't think we'll ever see the sort of phenomenon that the Spice Girls created again - they were very unique for their time - but represented young women all around the UK. They seemed more real then other girlgroups before them. I guess the problem with the Spice Girls was that because they got so big so quickly, the public ended up getting sick of them - and they got sick with eachother. I think whats interesting with Girls Aloud is that they really could have split after their Greatest Hits and they would have still been known as a big girlgroup, but what they have achieved since is nothing short of amazing. I think there is a proper love for them now - but not a crazy love for them that the Spice Girls got - which is the dangerous one. It will be interesting wen/if Girls Aloud do get back together - I hope they do, for me they did have a sound that represented the noughties. Sugababes have had an amazing run, but it does hurt to feel that they are now flogging a dead horse. 5 years ago, if I told myself that they would have a 4th line-up and the sales of Sweet 7 would struggle to reach 30,000 - I would have laughed. Interestingly, I really like the singles realeased from Sweet 7 and I thought they would be catchy enough to sell the album - but I just don't think the public care about them anymore - and that's going to be hard to turnaround

iTunes Chart: July 2010 (II)
I guess technically, JLS could be #1 in the main chart on Sunday but have neither the #1 on the Physical chart or the Digital Chart. Though Kylie's physicals are obviously high - her downloads have shrunk which takes her out of the running. While Katy Perry will have very little cd sales and BoB don't have a cd and so this is pretty close. If JLS do go to #1, it will be because they can score high enough in both areas where as the others score high in one but not in the other. I wonder if there has been a time when an artist has been #1 in the main chart but not on the seperate Digital and Physical cd charts?

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 16th July 2010

Its not the Shayne Ward song "Damaged" is it?
-
iTunes Chart: July 2010 (II)
Lets face it Kylie is one of the biggest physical cd sellers and she had 2cds and vinal and made 12,000 physical sales last week. JLS while big, probably won't have that much - probably around 5000/8000 copies. It will be interesting come the end of the week if they do manage to survive being at the top of the charts

Alexandra Burke - Perfect
If I had my way then the next few releases would look like this: August 2010 - Start Without You late-October/early November 2010 - The Silence late-December 2010/early January 2011 - Light fo the Dreamer March 2011 - Turbulence May 2011 - The Map Thats probably a bit too much though isn't it? Perfect is a nice song but for me Light of the Dreamer/The Map/Turbulence are alot better. The Music Sounds Better is a good song, but I don't think its as good as All Night Long which kind of feels similar in terms of subject matter.

Poll : Predict Kylie-Aphrodite first week sales
And if you're gonna be like that - then Abba - who are also on 4 consecutive decades - 70's, 80's 90's and 00's then the 90's and 00's don't count as that was Abba Gold -which scored its 00's in 2008
-
Poll : Predict Kylie-Aphrodite first week sales
Kylie's on course to be the first female (correct me if I'm wrong) to have 4 #1 albums in consecutive decades - 80's, 90's, 00's and 10's - equalling Cliff Richard and The Rolling Stones (Elvis also has 4 but its not consecutive)

Alexandra Burke 'Start Without You' [1st/next single]
Neither of these songs are on the resepective albums (well SWY not yet) so does that comment really count?

iTunes Chart: July 2010
How do you know that if Kylie didn't stagger the digital and physical release she would have been #1 this week?
