Watching the itv news and them talking about the Christmas #1 I'd say the interest is back in it. You might not like either track, but you can't deny that the interest has well and truly picked up amongst the general public

I've been torn over who I would like to get the Christmas #1, personally I've seen how the NHS work both in a professional and personal way and I don't really like Justin Bieber, but on the other hand, If Justin was to get it, I think it would be more beneficial in the long run for future Christmas #1s. Record companies will look at this and see that if Justin can catch the #1 with a single had no expectations of being a Christmas #1, then they'll pay more attention to it next year. The race for the Christmas #1 with proper competition will be on next year!

What a really strange coincidence (I didn't watch it). I've just been listening to some of his stuff on youtube and decided to buy the album. But glad Heroes is back, hope it continues to rise!

It would be quite funny One Direction getting Christmas #1. With the irony being, they're an X Factor act and in hindsight should have won against Matt Cardle - who had his Christmas #1 with his winners single. But somehow, if they get it, they would be deserving of it. They are the biggest band in the world and have gone on to achieve what the X factor has promised - a worldwide star. And it would be very poetic for an X Factor act to end it all for X Factor, and be it with their last single I'd still prefer Kylie to come out of nowhere and snatch it though (or Mariah/Pogues/ Shaky Stevens)

If Mariah (or Pogues) got the x-mas #1 then I do think it would launch even more actual Christmas related songs to be released - which I'm all for - especially as Mariah didn't get to #1 originally released. Or we could see a tussle between Mariah and Pogues for x-mas #1 until the end of time.

Everytime I see the title "Forever Young" I want it to be the Alphaville song and alas get solely disappointed knowing it's not.

Do you mean in relation to the current charts or the whole of it? cos I'm pretty sure Billie Piper was #1 when she was 15 with Because We Want To and Girlfriend (and 18 with Day and Night) X Factor winners singles look like they've gone the way of charity singles where no one is really caring or buying them anymore (the song itself really has to connect), Little Mix have managed to survive Cannonball and Word Up so hopefully Louisea will get over this.

I think the X Factor was a good way to end the Hello campaign really, it's been such a massive song and hadn't up until this point had a big spectacle type performance which the X Factor gave it. Christmas albums. Someone mentioned how she's not doing Michael Buble Christmas numbers - but no one does Michael Buble Christmas numbers apart from him

Lovely to see Kylie rebounding and hopefully this continues to climb and break the top 10 fingers crossed. There's no point comparing it to Michael Buble. He is the Adele of Christmas albums and I don't think any Christmas album by any artist has ever done that well before or after him (not even Mariah) in the UK (USA maybe a different story). If it was't for him selling so well, then the Christmas albums by Leona, Kelly Steps and Kylie possibly wouldn't have been thought of happening. The only artist that could sell in his numbers and more of a Christmas album is Adele! Great to see Adele will hold onto the #1 album too but fantastic that both her and Coldplay will have really high numbers! Christmas sales are saved!

So 681K in the UK (it's fair to say the record is now taken) 2.4m in the US (from yesterday) 210K in Aus Just in those 3 regions that's 3.2million not counting other countries. And the week isn't out yet!
