iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
I know not everyone's cup of tea - but I'm loving Katherine Jenkins - Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming which is at #208 at the moment. Such a lush song

If it was "last night" - they would have had another shipment later in the day

Biggest Selling X Factor Hits by Official Charts Company
I actually forgot about G4 - such a long time ago - and I used to get their albums for my nan at christmas! According to Wikipedia, their first album went double platinum, though the MusicWeek reported on Monday that Alexandra Burke has the 3rd highest selling X Factor album, behind JLS and Leona. I'd love to know where G4 slot into! Also, if anyone has any single sales for G4, I'll gladly add them :) Oh and by the way - if you're gonna add in Pop Idol, why not Girls Aloud as well - there are at least 2 albums that would be high in that list - and Cheryl Cole's debut. - This is why I thought best to keep it to X Factor so it doesn't get overtly complicated

19.4 million watched last night!

Yah! So happy for Matt! #1 already is brilliant! This should be a huge seller. Joe did 450K last year with a heavily supported campaign against him, although there are still campaigns, they are no where near supported as what Rage was last year

Matt Cardle - When We Collide
Love this! Matt was a worthy winner - though I would have been happy with either Matt or Rebecca CD Tracklisting 1. When We Collide 2. Just the Way You Are 3. First Time Ever I Saw Your Face 4. Nights In White Satin

The cd tracklisting is immense. I have to say that its probably the best ever X Factor winners single tracklisting

A Silence at number 1 for Christmas 2010
You never know - it may sell more Will Young sold over 1 million in a week with Evergreen/Anything Is Possible on Pop Idol in 2002 - and that released in March wasn't it?
-
Predict: Matt Cardle When We Collide opening and total sales
Yeah - he topped the vote 9 weeks straight and came 2nd on the first live week - he is probably the most popular contestant ever. I've put 200K opening and may just get more than 600K in a week

Well done to Matt! I was rooting for him and Rebecca (and Aiden) all the way through! So happy with the result and would have been happy either way with Matt and Rebecca. Love the song too! Brilliant for Matt!

I'd love to know how that person made that connection. It really confuses me

But it doesn't really matter what we like to see - it's what a general audience wants to see. Most people would say who? to Marina and the Diamonds, proof with my dad just now. After the success of Your Song, I could see Ellie getting a spot now and I used The Wanted because they are a new UK act that went on the show - fact, whether they a good example of a new act is opinion. Thats what you asked, and thats what they provided There's rumours Simon Cowell will be making a new TV music show, so theres a chance that could be more broader in who is on
-
iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
Well i guess the reason newer (UK) acts don't get slots is two-fold. Firstly, they're not gonna be ratings winners - how many people tune in to X Factor to see Rihanna and Xtina last night who might not usually bother? A new act isn't going to pull in the numbers. And also - because it is the biggest show on UK TV (whether people like it or not, only an England World Cup Final would rival its ratings now), it's right that guest stars should really prove themselves before going on. Obviously there's going to be bias towards its own, but just look at The Wanted - their VT was slightly embarrassing - and they are a new UK act

I do get you, but despite What's My Name already being a hit, it would have not been #1 on Itunes without the X Factor performance. The same as Meet Me Halfway probably wouldn't have been #1 last year without X Factor - it would have been a big hit. X Factor has made songs that may not have been hits, be hits - and songs already hits potential #1s - if there wasn't an X Factor single coming out this week - then What's My Name would be certain for a #1 this week
-
iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
But would What's My Name hit #1 on Itunes without X Factor? (Even if it's lifespan at the top remains short) - just think at the moment What's My Name is currently looking like the X-Mas #1
-
iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
Lets face it - it's always unfair when an artist you don't like gets a spot on X Factor and goes up the charts - but when it's an act you do like, well it doesn't matter anyway because of course it would have done brilliantly regardless, duh! :P

Simon Cowell to Launch New TOTP?
What about Sam and Mark? They hosted Top of the Pops Reloaded with Fearne Cotton and I thought they were quite good. There wouldn't be as many silly antics as I guess this will be aimed at a 16-30 age market (with obvious younger audience tuning in as well). They also seem to be moving away from the children presenting (slowly) by getting guest parts on This Morning
-
Simon Cowell to Launch New TOTP?
It all just depends who is releasing at the time doesn't it? The reason Simon Cowell can get the big guns for X Factor is because they are releasing their new albums at that time period, they have extra reason to promote and know that the show has massive ratings to get their music and knowledge of it out there. If this was a weekly show - Simon won't be able to rely on the usual suspects and would have to have more "unknown" acts on. More chance of new acts on the show - opening music up to a wider audience. It does baffle me, in this download age, that there isn't a mainstream music show on TV. I can see why they were taken off air in 2005/2006 - but there seems to be more of an interest in music now. As long as they put it on at primetime but doesn't get in the way of any rival big shows, it should work. And god knows the albums need it - while the singles are constantly on 2.5million a week, I'll dread next year albums will barely make 1million per week
-
Simon Cowell to Launch New TOTP?
Wasn't sure where to put this, but at the X Factor Press Conference, Simon Cowell has reportedly said "might be announcing something soon about a new music show" according to OK! I guess we'll soon get proper press reports soon

Coronation Street · 2010-2013
I have a feeling that Ashley isn't dead yet - but will possibly die tonight. Him coughing up blood shows that he has internal bleeding, so thats probably why he decided to hold up the rubble for Nick and Peter to escape, he knew he doesn't have long left. And Ashley leaving an answerphone message to Claire was heartbreaking - you know we'll be hearing it next week when Claire charges up her phone. Ken is the worst actor they have - I swear they only keep him because he has been in it for so long - Your son is in a burning building, your grandson is in a burning building, why did he come across as not really that bothered? And I'm surprised he didn't at least attempt to try and remove rubble - I know he's in his 70's, but come on, if you have family in danger, isn't it instinct to run and help them? Especially stereotypically for a man. He could have been held back by Deirdre and at least it would have made his scene more realistic.
