Jonas Benyoub is a well known rapper, producer and songwriter here in Norway, same goes for Bendik who rarely does not sing in Norwegian. A little context is probably needed for this song. The song was made for the show Hver Gang Vi Møtes (meaning Everytime We Meet in Norwegian) that showcases established artists in the Norwegian music scene which has been televised for over a decade. On this show artists sing each other's song, with each of the episodes being dedicated to the rendition of songs by one of the participants. For the latest season several artists that have appeared in BJSC were invited. Those artists being Astrid S, Carola, Kjartan Lauritzen and Ina Wroldsen (also known from Ask Embla). It was for the day dedicated to Ina Wroldsen “Mamma” was made, this song is a rendition of her song “Mother”. A song that touches upon her own longing for her mother and the impact she had on her. The importance and impact of her family was a theme throughout this whole episode, something that I think Jonas and Bendik expressed beautifully throughtout their own version of the song.

This time we are sending a reindition of a Bulgarian folk song that was made famous by the Bulgarian folk singer Stefka Sabotinova. The version I am sending is sung by the Bulgarian pop singer Tatyana and produced by Dian Solo, perhaps best known for being part of Deep Zone who represented Bulgaria in the 2008 edition of Eurovision with the song "DJ, Take Me Away". Additionally, this is the song that I originally confirmed for BJSC 171 before I reconfirmed to RIIZE - Let's see if that was a good choice or not! This is also sort of a Séyetana recycle 😅 (their former entry "Dein Zuhause" by 8kids samples the same folk song)
