Baltimore Bridge Collapse
Has anyone seen this yet? Absolutely awful (sorry if this is in the wrong spot!) A Singapore container ship lost control/power and sailed into a support for the bridge, effectively bringing almost the entire bridge down. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna145047

RESULTS: The Killers Singles Rate 2K24
Rut is about 9 spots too low  The rest feel about right. I liked World as a kid but I can’t say I’ve listened to it in a looong time

What is the best sitcom of all time?
Friends, Seinfeld, Modern Family, The Office, HIMYM, Schitts Creek. Some of these are more sitcom than others though. Most influential for modern sitcoms would be a toss up between Friends and Seinfeld. Both have their merits and have essentially produced countless “copies” of lesser/equal value. I love HIMYM but besides the gimmick of it all being told through the eyes of a narrator it wasn’t much different to what we’d seen before. I guess Simpsons too but I feel they belong to a whole other animation poll.

Pleeeaaassseeee there are some absolute quality songs coming from this side of the globe. We may have less success stories than the other Western countries but those that do break out are generally some of the best in their genre

One_For_Sorrow's Taylor Swift Albums Listen Through
Great reviews on these latest few albums, 1989 is definitely a career highlight for her as far as it being one of those albums that really defines an artist. Personally I prefer Reputation to Lover but I still agree that Lover is a very solid album through and through. The first half eclipses the second half but there is still quality there. Same probably goes for Reputation although the better songs are a bit more mixed in. Looking forward to reading what you think of folklore and evermore. At the time of their releases they seemed kind of polarising from the general public with such a big change in style from her last few albums. Even with Reputation being “darker” it was still primarily a pop album it was just a slightly different type of pop to, say, Lover, which is as bubblegum as she’ll ever be.

Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version) • Re-Recordings
Recently been paying more attention to this album than I ever have previously and while it’s possibly her most inconsistent it’s still a solid album. Re-recording should hopefully tidy it up a little and it will definitely need some vault tracks and/or extra features to get more of a look in from the GP. I have no doubt it’ll go #1 with no issues so long as it’s not released on a heavy week that someone else with a global name releases (Ed Sheeran, etc.). But do we expect any TV’s to come this year? 2021 Fearless and Red, but then 2022 had none presumably to focus entirely on Midnights. Then 2023 had Speak Now and 1989, following by her new album TTPD releasing next month. Going by the pattern do we think that the rest of 2024 will only be new era stuff then 2025 will finish off the re-recordings with Reputation in the first half then self titled in the second? It feels that way… BUT the Eras Tour is finishing at the end of this year which means a full “new era” of Taylor Swift. Will she want to push out these last two TV’s before Eras finishes? Allowing whatever comes next to truly be the next step in her career?

Favourite Mainline Pokemon Game
I’m all in on Gen 3 supremacy. I grow up on Ruby (plus the non-mainline games released during that time, peak GameCube stuff) and Omega Ruby was just as fantastic. True to the originals yet adding in sooo many improvements from over the years plus, obviously, Mega Evolution. Besides listing all the great battle & gameplay improvements introduced in Hoenn, the Pokémon were simply awesome. Breloom, Flygon, Metagross, Milotic, Gardevoir, Salamance, all three starters, all the legends died, etc. etc. In my opinion there hasn’t been a more consistent region when it comes to Pokémon quality. Even the “duds” or overlooked Pokémon generally have their niche and are useful at some point. I’d say Gen 6 isn’t too far behind as X&Y were superb too, introducing Heliolisk who is an all time Top 5 for me I’ll admit to never playing Gen 5 so I’m excluding that from my ranking. I love a lot of the Pokémon from Unova but that’s about as far as my knowledge goes. I think an extra bonus to playing in Kalos was seeing a lot more new Pokémon than most others purely because I’d skipped a generation. Ranking for 1 Gen 3 (R, OR) 2 Gen 6 (Y) 3 Gen 4 (P, Pl) 4 Gen 1 (FR, LG, Let’s Go) 5 Gen 9 (SC) 6 Gen 2 (HG) 7 Gen 8 (SW) 8 Gen 7 (US) Sword was good but lacked a lot. Dexit never particularly bothered me in terms of gameplay as I generally use exclusively new mons in a playthrough anyway. But graphics, fps, the vast disparity between some super open-world areas and some rabbit holes, plus more: there were just too many downsides to Galar for me. Rillaboom is cool and leagues ahead of the other two starters for me but even then I’d rank it towards the bottom of my starter tier list.

Apple TV+ Recommendations
Does anyone have any suggestions for movies or tv shows that are worth watching? I bought a new phone today and with it a free 3 month subscription to Apple TV+, I’ve used most other streaming services before but never this one. All I know it’s mostly made up of Apple exclusives My taste is irrelevant as I’ll watch most things  But that makes it even harder to decide lol. Do you have Apple TV+? What do you like best?

I wonder if they did ever work on something four years ago and it never came to fruition until now? Or the previous rumours were just nonsense speculation?

The Sims Movie | TBA
I love this so much omg this is bringing back CRUCIAL childhood memories. I think the one I remember the most was Toxic but there were thousands of them 5vsFoK95_2g But now I’m reminiscing about Sims YouTube and it just reminds me of TheQuxxn

The Sims Movie | TBA
As long as it’s similar to Barbie/The Lego Movie/Free Guy it could be good. A Sim realising they’re in a simulation. Maybe the movie starts off in Simlish but then the Sim gets electrocuted and instead of dying, the game/movie “crashes” and the Sim doesn’t actually die but starts speaking English. A montage following where all other Sims, the radio, etc. are in Simlish but the main character can’t understand it. They walk through a doorframe and the Plumbob falls off their head. They ask someone else about what’s going on but the other Sim takes it as an insult and then we see the minus-relationship pop up above their head. Somehow it becomes a full movie lol Imagine they make it a full series, The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, a spin-off The Sims Medieval, The Sims 4. Probably lineup a release of The Sims 5/6 with a new game  Post credits scene where the Sim gets mail and it’s a copy of The Sims 2

The Tortured Poets Department • 11th Album
So the first track on the album is with Post Malone who is currently about to start the release of his new country project. TTPD is said to be soft rock, which is probably the closest we’ll get to Taylor doing country again Is TTPD going to be Fearless 2.0?
-
Doctor Who • 2023-
I agree re: Smith/Capaldi eras aging better than Eccleston/Tennant. Until my most recent rewatch I would’ve sworn down that #10 was my favourite Doctor. Tennant is still amazing and will probably be the eternal most iconic “younger” Doctor, Capaldi just encapsulates the essence of a time lord who is hundreds/thousands of years old

Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help
Post Malone is varied enough I think he could pull off most genres tbh. He’s definitely tried between album tracks, country/pop features, and the odd dance feature. Dial Drunk being a key source of hope for me. If he can make an album that sounds like the Noah feature I’ll be happy. Pair that with some Luke Combs and Zach Bryan inspo and he’s got a winner

Justin Timberlake - Everything I Thought It Was
I’ve had time to listen to this more and, even as a JT fan, I’m not keen. There’s a couple of standout songs but the album as a whole is just a slog to get through. The cons outweigh the pros by too much. It’s consistent at least Man Of The Woods was better imo. But that was also too long for its own good. Both of these albums have at least 3-4 songs too many that don’t need to be there as they just sound like a mashup of other songs already on the album
