The O2 Dublin is quite small really - it's where he did his free gig last year. Only around 13,000 with standing. I'd imagine this will be all seated though. Where is the DVD from the TTC Tour though? What is it with his management refusing to release tour dvds? Apart from Knebworth has any gig from a tour been released? The Tallin gig is already recorded and ready to go. A Wembley DVD would've been good too but now we are only getting the Swing gig which is silly seeing as that would be more suited coming next Xmas from one of the the gigs from the Swing tour.

Yo :smoke: Bought the album on Saturday but only just got around to listening to it this evening. I am actually quite surprised how enjoyable it is. Some really good tunes on there - Shine My Shoes has the Williams/Chambers classic sound all over it, Snowblind is very good vocally and lyrically and No One Likes A Fat Pop Star is brilliant. The covers are not as obvious as SwingWYW which is nice - Dream A Little Dream and Little Green Apples are very strong duets. Soda Pop with Micky Bubbles is a bit of the let down - very repetitive. I wanna be like you with Olly is a bit of cheesy fun really. Not overly fond of 'Go Gentle' though - the bridge and some of the lyrics are very well done but it has a weak chorus and it drags on and is overly dull imo - not surprised it failed to make the top 5. A big let down for the return to writing with Guy. Shine My Shoes would've been a far better choice and should be the second single. I see in the TV guide that he is performing 'I wanna be like you' on Graham Norton this week though so maybe that's second single. A bit pointless unless Olly is doing it with him but I suppose it could be a big hit for Xmas especially with a duet on the XF final with Olly. Great to see he is heading for the 1000th #1 Uk album this week - just read it has sold over 48K yesterday alone which is very impressive especially given it took Take That Crown two days to shift that amount and that was on the back of a massive lead single with 'Candy'. It would be good to see this open with over 100K.

So another duet on the Swing album then? I wonder if this will be a duets album instead what with Buble and Adele duets lined up as well? He should give Liam Gallagher a call and see if he wants to do a song with him for it. Liam is desperate to sing in a stadium again - it could be his only chance.

Classic Liam slagging off a big star to get publicity for Beady Eye. This feud used to be great when they were both huge stars but Liam is now playing tiny venues whereas Rob is still selling out massive stadiums globally. Liam needs to kiss and make up with Noel again if he wants to play the Etihad Stadium. The only other way I could see him playing there is if he asks Rob if Beady Eye can support him next time around. Main difference between them is why Rob left TT he went on to sell more albums in the UK than any British solo artist in history and become a global star, whereas Liam is stuck playing theatres like he is starting off again. Noel is a legend though and has become one of the most successful solo acts in the UK. Loved Rob's comeback though. I am sure Liam will be fuming :lol:

Just watched that performance - it was fun. The judges didn't seem to know what to make of it :lol: Surprised it isnt doing better chart wise though. It's bloody catchy. ^_^

Hey everyone :D Just got back from a fantastic sun holiday in Albufeira in Portugal today. Had a great time but I am very sunburned. <_< Saw Rob at the Aviva last Friday and had to be at the airport for 7 the next morning. Gig was amazing though. How is everyone? B-)

The standing area was totally sold out - in fact standing area 1 sold out the morning tickets went on sale. The problem was they had a barrier up to separate the two sections and had it quite far back to allow for plenty of room which resulted in it looking as thought it wasn't sold out. They should have just moved the barrier further up. The seats were not sold out which I am not surprised as considering a large amount of them were €100-130 which is ridiculous in a recession. The promoters MCD claimed before the gig that they had sold over 50,000 tickets and they considered that a sell out. Staff at the Aviva were informed there were in fact 47,000 in attendance. Either way it is likely the second highest attended concert at the Aviva since it opened. Last year both Lady Gaga and Madonna only sold 37,000 and 33,000 respectively. Neil Diamond held the record for over 50,000 however that gig was a disaster with only half the amount of tickets being sold in the weeks leading up to the event. MCD spend an absolute fortune on radio and tv adverts and a huge amount of tickets were given away in comps. When Bon Jovi's ticket sales for Slane were the worst in history last weekend it was described as “the curse of Neil Diamond” by the Irish Times due the the amount spend on adverts. Robbie's gig was one of the few successful stadium gigs in recent years. Had it been announced with the rest of the tour before Christmas I am sure it would've sold even better. It was announced very late and by that stage loads of Irish fans had assumed there would be no gig so had most likely booked tickets to one of the UK shows. It was a silly move by MCD but considering the prices it is amazing that it sold so well. Most shows here are selling very poorly apart from Bruce Springsteen. Bon Jovi only sold over half of the amount of tickets available and Neil Young sold 18,000 out of 38,000 for the RDS the same weekend. I'll do a proper review of the gig during the week but in short it was a brilliant night. Had really good seats on the lower tier so unlike last time could actually see what was going on. The way he held the crowd in the palm of his hand for 2 hours was classic Robbie. The production of certainly the biggest he's ever had - no real need for it was unlike most pop stars he is the show and his best gigs like Slane had no special effects or big production. It was still pretty cool though. The setlist was interesting. I was glad he still opened with LMEY after ditching it for Radio on the last year 7 years ago. It is by far the best opener for a gig and as usual got everyone bouncing. Would've liked a few more new songs - 'Into The Silence' would have been excellent but it was never going to happen I suppose. Was surprised he didn't sing 'Different' seeing as it was the second single. Not Like The Others in particular was a great stadium tune. As far as the older tunes go - I was disappointed he left off 'Karma Killer' and 'Lazy Days' as he had sung them on the small tour and the O2 gigs. Mandalay and/or Eternity would've gone down well too but why didn't he do Supreme? It's one of his all time great hits and it's fantastic live. I was amazed he brought 'Strong' back yet left Supreme off seeing as he's always disliked Strong. The bit with the bed was amazing though I'lll admit :P Me and My Monkey was a brilliant surprise. Not a track I play very often but the performance reminded me what a cracking tune it is. To see Rob with the mic around his head acting out the whole song was really good. I don't think I've seen him use one of those mics before. Worked really well for Monkey and for the acoustic section which was one of my favourites. Millenium sounded a bit odd but Better Man was amazing. There were a few surprises though - Sexed Up being one considering he didn't even sing it for the Escapology tour - and Sin Sin Sin, IC's lowest charting single. I would've preferred 'Tripping' myself but SSS is good live. It was a fantastic gig and he was in great form. Easily the most relaxed I've seen him perform. I am sure you will love it Nada, even if the setlist isn't pefect (although you can blame him reading the OS forum for including Me and My Monkey as he said he sung it because so many fans requested it :lol: ). It was easily superior to the show I was at the Close Encounters tour. He was a nervous wreck on that tour and it effected his voice and performance. He actually appears to be enjoying himself this time which is great. The encore is predictable but works very well. Closing with 'Losers' on the small tour and O2 shows didn't work. 'Angels' is tradition. The crowd singing it back to him as he walked off was epic. The Sun said in the review that he has sold over 900,000 for the UK alone on this tour which would surely make it the biggest of all time for a solo artist? I know it was going to be the biggest since MJ's Bad Tour. Can't remember the exact figures right now though. I am sure Wembley will be jammed packed. I think it was only the last night that tickets were still be advertised for. 4 night at Wembley is incredible though. I can't think of any solo act that could do that these days.

Another date announced - this time in Croatia at Zagreb's Stadion Maksimir on August 13th.. Capacity 60,000. Wonder is Nada going to go?

Kilkenny is fantastic. Best part of it is there is going to be lots of support acts. Bruce gigs never have support but this is seen as a small festival . Is Imelda May famous in the UK yet? :unsure:

No, but I am half expecting him to announce it at this stage. Belfast, Limerick, Cork and coming back to finish the whole tour off in what is being called the Wrecking Ball Weekender in Killkenny. No doubt he will pass the 4 hour mark like the end of last years European leg :lol:

I don't have that much of an issue when it's Springsteen as you just know he is going to play for 3-4 hours. Anything over €100 for a gig is ridiculous though - especially in a recession. It's no wonder gigs are not selling out anymore. The promoters would surely make more money bringing the prices down by 20 or 30 therfore increasing demand hugely? Bruce could charge what he wants here though. He has sold over 150,000 tickets for his five gigs in this summer alone (all outside Dublin which makes it even more impressive)- cheapest ticket is €96. :lol:

I knew he would announce it eventually :lol: The June 14th date had been floating around since last October. Will be interesting to see how well it sells. Big gigs have finally been effected by the recession this year. Madge and Gaga didn't sell well at all at the Aviva and Bon Jovi will be lucky to play to a half full field at Slane this summer. The prices for this are steep - €130 for good seats near the stage. The €69 is probably for the seats at the back - standing will probably be €90. A bit risky starting the tour here though after Croker in 06 :lol: On the official press release for the gig he is stated "Over 600k tickets have now sold for the UK alone and in record time. This is a testament to the British icons' incredible and enduring appeal." 600k sold in the UK alone is amazing. I think the total tickets on sale is around 650K and if you include the three O2 shows - then it will be over 700K in the UK alone for this tour when it's over. Must surely be the biggest tour ever for a solo act in Uk history, leaving MJ's Bad Tour aside? :o

It only took a decade but I am delighted they are back together. Hopefully they still have the chemistry that led to all of those classics. Hoping for lots of rockier tunes again :D

We always knew this was coming :lol: I really can't see him doing an actual follow up to SwingWYW ie. another covers album with the songs that didn't fit in. If he is working with Guy again I am expecting an original album in a Swing style with maybe a couple of covers at the most. Although having said that Xmas is the time for a Swing album and I can't see him going up against TT (whether he appears on their album or not). Hopefully him and Guy are writing shit loads of tracks and he releases the follow up to Escapology - a big pop/rock album this summer right after the tour :D

Enjoyed the performance. A bit sick of hearing him sing Candy all the time though but I suppose it was a big hit and nominated for Best Single so was the obvious choice. It was a crap show this year though. Have they got rid of the Outstanding Contribution To Music award? Think Blur were the last act to get it.

Yeah Saturday Night Takeaway is back tomorrow night. Will be good to see him perform something other than 'Candy'. He is on Alan Carr next week too I think, also singing Be A Boy. I can't remember the last time he actually did promo work after Xmas. Usually he never bothers to promote third or fourth singles. Can't see BAB setting the charts on fire but it will hopefully help the album.
