  1. Got the DVD on Friday - watched it in full last night and was actually blown away at how bloody good it is :o The highlight package shown on Sky1 did it no justice. It is such a massive improvment on the youtube live stream and has that magical live U2 feel to it - there are many highlights, among which include 'I Still Havent Found (deffo a goodbumbs moment with the crowd singing), Stuck, Elevation, Until The End Of The World (love the part at the end with the bridges), City, Beautiful Day (one of the best ever - loved 'In Gods Country' snippit), Streets (especially when Bono stood on the speakers at the end and the lights went up on the crowd - very special), UF, In a little while, Ultra Violet. The whole thing was epic, the sound and picture quality really is quite something. :D The only issues really was the crowd - the band, especially Bono (despite his voice breaking a few times due to it being at the end of a 40+ date tour) were on fire throughout, and the crowd did not deserve them. Apart from a few moments such as ISHFWILF, I could barely hear any crowd whatsoever - again a big problem with doing DVDs in America - the crowds are always far far more reserved than Europe, South America, Oz etc. I hope we get another DVD from a future leg - as we have done for the past 2 tours.
  2. I can't believe it, I have totally forgotton about this. Only just saw the thread and remembered it was on tonight. FFS - I doubt it will be repeated either.
  3. Bono spotted in France - article here http://www.atu2.com/news/bono-spotted-in-france.html http://www.atu2.com/files/news/20/6190-m.jpg
  4. It was only the 45 minute highlight package that was shown in Oz and Brazil which was posted in this thread with - Boots, Magnificent, Vertigo, Crazy Tonight, SBD, Streets, Ultraviolet, Moment Of Surrender. It was a nice taster of the DVD and a big improvment on the youtube did in terms of audio and visual. It is going to be a cracking DVD, there is no doubt about that. It is just a shame it had to be another US show, and it was right at the end of the tour ie. Bono's voice was not at it's best, but we will hopefully get another 360 DVD from the second Euro leg or even better a South American gig for a change - the atmosphere there is amazing at gigs. It was a bit lazy of them to release the Rose Bowl gig on DVD since most fans have already seen it though - it's just like Bruce Springsteen with his upcoming DVD from Hyde Park - it is widely regarded by his fans as being one of the very few average gigs of the tour with Bruce's voice being totally shot at times (mainly due to playing at Glasto till 1.30am only a matter of hours earlier) - but was only picked due to the Hard Rock Calling already having it filmed - his managment wanted to save money and avoid having to pay someone to film a different show. Great detailed review of the DVD here http://www.atu2.com/news/review-u2-360-at-the-rose-bowl.html

Can't believe Clint is 80 today :o Happy Birthday to one of the all time greatest Hollywood icons - he has been instrumental in changing the Western genre (and making it a hell of alot more interesting, artistic and watchable imo). As well as having two of the all time best actor/director partnerships with both Sergio Leone and Don Siege he has lproven himself to be a truly brilliant director over the years with a hugely versatile body of work - arguably the greatest actor turned director of in US film history, and he seems to be getting even better unlike most directors as they age. So what is everyone favourite Clint films? With such a huge number of classics to his name it's pretty bloody difficult but here is my top 10, including films he directed and didnt star in. :D 1. Unforgiven 2. The Outlaw Josey Wales 3. Dirty Harry 4. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly 5. In The Line Of Fire 6. For a Few Dollars More 7. Mystic River 8. Letters From Iwo Jima 9. Magnum Force 10. Escape From Alcatraz Love loads of others as well including Play Misty For Me, Pale Rider, For A Few Dollars More, Gran Torino, Sudden Impact, Heartbreak Ridge, Bird, A Perfect World and Million Dollar Baby. The man is quite simply a legend. :D

Not a suprise considering he was terminally ill for quite some time, but a great shame to lose such a talented actor and director. Easy Rider remains one of the most iconic films ever made. I loved his appearance as the villian in the first series of 24, and of course his astonishingly brilliant performance in Blue Velvet. Was only watching him get his star on the walk of fame a few months back with his best friend Jack Nicholson. RIP 5_5sQyHnbY4

I thought the whole thing was a bit more Steven King-esque than Speilberg myself but can see both of their influcence in the whole thing in terms of the storytelling. Overall I loved the final - although I can see why so many people are annoyed. But I felt it was done very well, especially the actual sideaways being purgatory and not the events on the Island itself, as that was always what many thought. A few people have complained that surely in those who got off the Island remainly life they met other very important people in their life that would also go to purgatory as well? Such as their possible children etc? You can spend years analysing the whole thing though - I am going to watch the Jimmie Kimmel special with the cast and then 'The Final Journy'. :D It's very sad it's all over now though - it was a truly amazing show and with I am sure have a lasting impact on how TV shows are made. I hope there are no spin off as they are bound to be a disaster - someone on DS joked about a possible Cop buddy drama with Sawyer and Miles

Absolutelly amazing final - I have never been on the edge of seat as much watching a TV show or a film in my life as I was in the last 10 minutes - seriously phenomenal stuff. The last scene with Jack thanking Chloe was the PERFECT ending. I was so glad Jack did not die. I didnt want him to die anyway, but would've accepted it as an amazing ending had it been Chloe shooting him to prevent WW3 - but he would've died for nothing so I would've been infuriated had Logans henchmen killed him. It didnt end how I expected at all - I was sure Chloe having the last line with 'Shut it down was going to be a bad thing but it worked so effectivly. It set up for the films perfectly and means they won't be prequels which potentially could've been a disaster - I was no doubt about it that the film (and I am sure the sequels if it is a success) will be fantastic. And yes they will be proper films released in the cinemas - not TV movies. Redemption was already the TV movie afterall. Overall it started out very slow and at times bland as a season but in the past 7 or 8 hours, I think from the peisode where Dana was revealed as the mole - it has been gripping television and has seeen some of the all time classic 24 moments. In compason to the Lost final - it's obviously hard to compare but tbh the lead up to the 24 final was in a totally different league to Lost - but the final themselves were both fantastic in my view with moving final shot with Jack Bauer and Jack Shepard respectivley - but 24 just edged it for me as I was on the edge of my seat and glued to the screen far more - and cared alot more about Jack in 24 than Jack in Lost, probably because I have experienced far more enjoyment of 24 over the years, espeically the first 5 series than I ever did with Lost. But both were amazing and it is so sad they are now over. TV is one bland place without them IMO. -_-
  9. Poor Bono - partial paralysis :( The main thing is he makes a full recovery. It is a shame about Glasto and the tour but his heath is what is important. There is always next year afterall. By then they will (hopefully) have released another album so it will make things more interesting - although its sad we prob won't get to hear the song U2 had written especially for Glasto now. -_- I'd hate to be in charge of getting a replacement - as no-matter who it is it won't suit alot of people who were expecting U2. And they can't cancel their tickets now either - so thousands of people who paid hundreds of pounds especially for the lads will be fuming I am sure. Coldplay are prob the safest bet - as the true great replacements such as The Stones and Led Zepplin won't do it.
  10. U2 cancel Glastonbury and US tour after Bono's injury BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment_a...ts/10154682.stm http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/47897000/jpg/_47897157_bono_reu226.jpg U2 have pulled out of the Glastonbury Festival and postponed their US tour after Bono had emergency surgery to save him from possible paralysis. The singer, 50, had a back operation on Friday after suffering an injury while training in preparation for the tour. Neurosurgeon Joerg Tonn said: "The surgery was the only course of treatment for full recovery and to avoid further paralysis." Bono, who must recuperate for the next two months, said he was "heartbroken". They were due to headline Glastonbury on 25 June, in the middle of their 16-date North American tour, which was booked for June and July. While the surgery has gone very well, the coming weeks are crucial for a return to full health Dr Muller Wohlfahrt Prof Tonn told the Reuters news agency Bono had been "in severe pain with partial paralysis of the lower leg". The frontman is "now much better with complete recovery of his motor-deficit", he continued. "His prognosis is excellent but to obtain a sustainable result he must now enter a period of rehabilitation." Dr Muller Wohlfahrt, who also treated the star in Munich, Germany, explained: "Bono suffered severe compression of the sciatic nerve. "On review of his MRI scan, I realised there was a serious tear in the ligament and a herniated disc, and that conservative treatment would not suffice. "We are treating Bono as we would treat any of our athletes and, while the surgery has gone very well, the coming weeks are crucial for a return to full health." His rehabilitation will begin in the next few days, with the intensity increasing over the next eight weeks. WHO WILL GLASTONBURY TURN TO? COLDPLAY - Personal friends of the Eavis family and headliners in 2005 and 2002. KINGS OF LEON - Their headline slot in 2008 catapulted them onto the A list. Already playing London on 30 June - days after Glastonbury. DIZZEE RASCAL - Immediately below U2 on Friday night's main stage bill. ROLLING STONES - As with U2, Michael Eavis has been trying to book the rock legends for years. LED ZEPPELIN - Jimmy Page told BBC 6 Music today he would not rule out an appearance. KYLIE MINOGUE - She pulled out of a headline slot in 2005 and could make up for it. Has a new album to promote. The band's manager Paul McGuinness said the group were "devastated" at postponing the concerts. "For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow," he said. "His concerns about more than a million ticket buyers whose plans have been turned upside down, we all share, but the most important thing right now is that Bono makes a full recovery." Glastonbury had been attempting to book U2 for many years and their appearance was expected to be a highlight of the event's 40th anniversary. The band said they had written a new song for the occasion. "I'm heartbroken," he said. "We really wanted to be there to do something really special." Bono phoned festival organiser Michael Eavis on Tuesday morning to break the news. Mr Eavis said: "It was obvious from our telephone conversation that U2 are hugely disappointed. Clearly they were looking forward to playing the Pyramid Stage as much as we were looking forward to watching them." 'Best wishes' He declined to comment on a possible replacement. "Instead, we would simply like to send Bono our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery," Mr Eavis added. Dizzee Rascal, who is below U2 on the Pyramid Stage bill on Friday 25 June, could now take the headline slot. Festival favourites Coldplay have also been mentioned as possible replacements. The festival has had to cope with headliners pulling out in the past. In 1995, The Stone Roses cancelled when guitarist John Squire broke his collarbone in a cycling accident. Pulp were brought in as last-minute replacements. In 2005, Kylie Minogue withdrew following her diagnosis with breast cancer. Basement Jaxx were promoted to fill in. U2's North American dates will be rescheduled. Their 360 Degree tour earned the band about $109m (£75.3m) in 2009, making it the most profitable tour of the year, according to Billboard magazine.

You can watch it live on Fox? Where? :o I am just watching Kiefer on Jay Leno on CNBC now.
  13. Is this a f***ing joke? Dizzie Rascal is nowhere near even close to being in a league suitable to replace U2, never mind headline the 40th Anniversary of Glastonbury. Surely this has to be a joke? I mean I am sure there are thousands of people travelling from abroad to Glasto this year to see worldwide performers - and will have no clue who Dizzie even is. Very few rappers can pull of headling such an event - Jay Z did it because he is in a league of his own and is probably the biggest rapper on the planet - Dizzie is frankly a joke for little kids in comparison and it would be utterly laughable to have to as the headliner any year, let alone the 40th Anniversary. It would make sence for Coldplay to replace U2 - as although I am far from a fan and think they are a second-rate U2 at best - they are at least the next biggest (not best) band on offer and are a similar type of act at least. In an ideal world The Rolling Stones would step in but that is highly unlikely. Getting U2 was such a huge coup and unless The Stones replace them the headliners certainly does not indicate it's the 40th, but rather just another year. I think it's highly likely U2 will cancel the gig as even if Bono has recovered somewhat within the next 4-5 weeks he won't be 100% and therefor there is no point in doing it if they can't give it there all. Besides there is always next year...:D It's amazing that last year Bruce and Neil Young headlined the Fri and Sat, and this year it was meant to be U2 and Stevie - how can you even mention Dizzie Rascal along with these legends? At least get Eminem or some other rap legend, but Dizzie is just about as lightweight as a rapper can get and appeals to mainly kids for obvious reasons.
  14. Dizzee to take U2's headline slot? The Press Assosiation (UKPA) – 3 hours ago Dizzee Rascal could take U2's place and close the Friday night Glastonbury line-up if Bono's bad back means the band can't honour their headline slot. According to The Sun, festival organiser Michael Eavis has also put in a call to Chris Martin to check Coldplay's availability. Dizzee is currently on course to play before U2 at Glastonbury on the Friday evening.

Yes apparently she says Why are you hoping for Jack to die? :o I know it would be an amazing and shocking ending but I'll be sad enough with it being the last ever episode so don't want Jack to die as well. Seriously cannnot wait for the final. The last episode was just so bloody good and a great way to lead up into the final. How on earth is Jack going to get the Russian President though? I doubt it will happen but some held from Tony and Aaron would be useful. ^_^
  16. It's seems we are getting a new book as well and even better - written by the fantastic Chris Heath (who wrote the amazing book 'Feel') - can't wait :cheer: http://www.play.com/Books/Books/4-/1460236...ty/Product.html

  18. I read in the paper it got to #29 - tbh I am wondering why it was even released yet - it was only played on the radio on Monday and the world cup hasnt even begun  I suspect it will get alot higher nearer the time. Are they even planning a video?
  19. That's terrible news Jups - sorry to hear about your mum - hopefully she makes a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.
  20. This is terrible news - poor Bono. :( Spinal surgery is very serious and generally takes months before people can get back to normal. I feel very sorry for all the hundreds of thousands of fans accross the US who have boked flights, hotels etc - although the gigs can of course be re-schedualed. What cannot be howeer is Glasto - it will be awful if they have to pull out of that but being realistic it is only in 4 weeks time and even if Bono, being his stubborn self, decides to perform no matter what, it is highly unlikely he will be able to give it 100% - and would probably have to stand still or sit down, therefor not giving a proper Bono performance. Considering how important the Glasto gig was to them and how much they would have wanted to be one of the highlights of their career I have a feeling they will pull out. :(

I'm really looking forward to the last episode - is bound to be imense  Most likely won't make any f***ing sence but will be bloody good TV at the end of the day  Won't be getting up at 5am but will record it and watch it in the evening after work. As much as I am looking forward to it and have enjoyed this season - the past few episodes havent really lead up to the final very well - they have been a bit half-arsed tbh and were not worthy of the huge hype for the final. I just don't get the feeling it's all coming to an end and wasnt on the edge of my seat or anything. Let's hope it goes out on a high though. :D This week is a terrible week for TV - both Lost and 24 ending forever. :(

Seriously AMAZING episode - TV doesn't get much better than that. I am loving this series so much now which makes it so sad that after next week there will be no more  Although having said that I am delighted it is going on the high it deserves to. :D I'm loving Jack on a rampage and killing everyone that moves - totally OTT but utterly brilliant entertainment  When Chloe said she knew someone who could help I was sure she was going to call Aaron Pierce and not Cole. I really hope they find a way to bring Aaron back for the final two episodes - would be a great shame considering he is the only other character to be in every season. Also I really hope Tony comes back next week although at this point I can't see how that is likely.
  23. Delighted Rock DJ got so high - very well deserved. It is an iconic video at this stage and I am glad it is getting the recognition it deserves. Most people don't even know about the amazing second half of the video as it is never shown on TV so they just think it's Rob taking his clothes off  On another vote HOW THE f*** is Poker Face a better video that Like A Prayer and Take On Me? I mean honestly, you could'nt make it up.

  25. An edited version of the DVD was show in Brazil last week and has made it's way onto youtube - really interesting to see them opening with 'Boots' - it is actually done very well although I am still annoyed about Breathe being left off as I loved the intro with Larry on the drums and then the others coming out.
