  1. Meryl Streep must get sick of being nominated annually - Stanley Tucci even said he is organising the Academy put a cap of 16 nominations so she can't be nominated again  Glad Sandy won Best Actress though - I've always liked her - seems like such a nice person - and she won 'Worst Actress' at the Razzies the night before for a different film - and actually turned up to accept it
  2. Havent seen 'A Single Man' so not sure about Colin Firth - although he won the Bafta - it's all to do with politics really. Im not a big fan of him as an actor though in general. So you didn't enjoy the Loveley Bones then? I was under the impressiont he film added in loads of stuff not int he book - it is usually the opposite with loads missing  I loved Stanley Tucci's performance though - especially the scene in the house where Salmon's sister breaks in - great suspence :D
  3. What did you think of The Lovley Bones Jups? Rubbish or unfairly bashed? Jeff Bridges's performance in 'Crazy Heart' is remarkable and he is such an underrated actor so it is great to see him win :drink:
  4. I don't think they have the ability to deliberatly do anything tbh  So option two  I have a bad feeling about tomorrows midweeks - I havent even looked to see where it is on itunes - I fully expect it to peak next week and after he performs it on the telethon on the 19th.

  7. Evening :smoke: Just finished watching The Oscars - a pretty bland evening. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were dissapointing hosts, well from the 90 minute highlights show I saw they were. Overall it could'nt have been any more predictable...still pleased with most of the results though :D I do miss Jack Nicholson's annual appearance - he even has his own seat - this is the second or third year running he has not showed up. :(
  8. Yeah physical release next week which is simply ridiculous and will result in a low chart placing  I have yet to see the video on TV or hear the song on the radio  It is #3 on the Airplay Charts in the UK though :o

  12. Overall very predictable - especially 'The Hurt Locker' winning Best Picture. I just knew they would go for the film very few people have seen as oppose for the one everyone and their dog has seen (Avatar). They are generally like this so it was highly predictable - they continue to be very niche when they had the chance of re-connecting with the wider cinema audience this year, becase let's face it - it is rare that such a critically acclaimed film makes such an insane amount of money. I am glad though as I won a good few quid on a bet. The Hurt Locker is a good film, but like it or not Avatar will be extremly influential in the future of film-making - whereas The Hurt Locker will be more remembered for being the film that beat Avatar instead of a future classic - because it's not a classic by any stretch of the imagination. It's just a very strong American War film, but it is certainly not the best of 2009- it's not even the best film released that month (Moon was) let alone the year  Delighted Jeff Bridges and Christopher Waltz won Best Actor and Supporting - two astonishingly good performances. Havent seen 'The Blind Side', but it is nice to see Sandra Bullock win Best Actress, she has proved many times she is a very talented acctress when it comes to dramatic roles in the past. Also good to see Kathryn Bigelow pick up Best Director - I can't believe she is the first women to ever win it. :o

A bad album? Far from it - it was in parts prouduced poorly but it is still a very strong record. All the songs bar two (Miami, Playboy Mansion) are all either really good or great tunes imo. It's my least fave out of the 90's experimental trio but I definatlu don't think it is their worst album - if you go onto U2 fansites - it is highly praised and many fans favourite album. The reviews were initially very good but over the years it has been remembered negetivley, similar to 'Be Here Now' by Oasis, although Pop is a superior album imo - both had huge initial success both critically and commerically (BHN was the fastest seller in the UK of all time, and Pop went to #1 in 35 countries). I've always liked the bands idea of re-recording the tracks again, as when performed live they tend to sound much much better - especially the wonderful 'Wake Up Dead Man' and 'Gone' - and both Discotheque and Staring At The Sun are among my favourite U2 singles ever
