Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
I am very surprised at sales as high as 173K this week. I was initially expecting around 150K but then with the weather 120K would have been more realistic but 170K+ is much higher than I anticipated. It should do 200K this week and then obviously rise even more the following two weeks. I expect sales to be between 1.6M-1.8M before the end of the year. It will be the best selling album of the year by next week already. :D

Late Late Show in Ireland - December 10th
Tubs said on his show the other morning that for women of a certain vintage TT and Danny O'D will be on  TT fans won't be pleased to be lumped in with all the old grannies that love Danny

new coldplay xmas single
The main problem with comparing Coldplay and U2 is that U2 have distinct changes in sound each decade - the 80's they had their own sound that stood out a mile from the music that was popular at the time - then in the 90's they made a radical change in not only the direction of music, but also their image. They totally reinvented themselves. Yes since 2000 they have stuck to quite a similar sound overall with ATYCLB, Bomb and NLOTH but I am confident due to the underperformance of NLOTH (by their standards obviously - it still sold 4-5M WW) they will once again freshen things up with a new sound. The problem with Coldplay is that they have never attempted to make a serious change in direction - they try with a track here and there but the overall sound remains very much the same throughout IMO. They really could do with trying to make their 'Achtung Baby' so to speak - and not be so concerned about alienating their fanbase. Some serious risks that will surprise their biggest critics would be welcome if you ask me. And although I agree with Grimly regarding the extent of which Coldplay use the influences of many bands such as U2 at least Martin admits it. He said in Q a while ago "The best advice U2 have us was, Sound a bit like us for a bit. We tried it around X&Y. It worked out OK but we had to move off it pretty fast" - I applaud him for admitting this but the problem with this statement is that he says after X&Y they wanted to move away from this, yet what do they do? Hire U2's main producer Brian Eno for Viva La Vida.

U2 Tour 2nd Leg 2010/2011
I've read reports that Ireland are going to use the various stages as a bargaining chip in any future negotiations with the IMF and EU. The Government are counting on the likes of Ajai Chopra being big U2 fans as a last resort. :smoke: Seriously though - Willie Williams said the plan is for each of the three or four stages to be put on separate continents. What the purpose of this will be I don't know. <_<

Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
Interesting to note that The Circus sold around 319K in it's second week in 2008 (it sold over 300K for it's first four weeks) - so over 100K more than Progress. Main reason for this is that The Circus was released only a couple of weeks before Xmas - Progress won't start to get that same advantage for another few weeks - when all album sales will start increases hugely for obvious reasons. It must also be pointed out that album sales were stronger two years ago (which makes Progress's 520K debut even more impressive) - after one week on sale Circus was the 10th best seller of 08 - Progress was #9 after a week - and after two weeks on sale The Circus was the fifth best seller of 08 - after two weeks Progress is the forth best selling of 10 - and it will easily be #1 with the next 2-3 weeks. It will achieve what The Circus failed to do - and that is become the years best selling album. Beautiful World failed to become the best seller of 2006 too - so it would be nice to see. I will be shocked if Progress doesn't achieve this. TT have never had a best seller of any year and Rob has only achieved that twice - in 2002 for Escapology (which sold 1.5M despite being released late November) and in 2001 with Swing WYW which was #1 for 6 weeks. I can see Progress passing the 1.5M mark before the end of the year but due to the word of mouth due to the change of direction I am unsure if it will pass the 2M point. Time will tell but I won't be remotely surprised if it doesn't due to the overall sound and genre. So far it is selling on the back of The Flood which is by any standard quite a normal sounding pop record - but I am more than positive that a lot of the more casual housewife types will not be pleased with the overall sound of the album apart from a couple of tracks and that is where the disadvantage lies commercially speaking. It will continue selling very well in the short term but I can't see it selling near what Beautiful World sold in the UK for example. The extra international sales will make up for things on that front though - with it having a good chance of being their best seller ever globally. The second single will be a tough choice - Kidz is the obvious choice imo - with the third single possibly Eight Letters to attract the more casual listener who hadn't already bought it at that stage.

TT Single. The Flood (2010)
Although I don't agree with him that TT have never made any decent records - it is so refreshing to see someone acknowledge that TT will benefit from Rob being back commercially in Europe - it's generally only on Robbie and chart forums that people realize this. So it's nice to see coming from someone in the business, especially from the Human League - a band Rob loves. Although I feel a bit sorry for Mark Owen - aren't they his fave band ever? :(

Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
Very good sales for Progress - sold more in it's second week than any other album sold in it's first this year. Would have expected a little north of 230K but considering the bad whether - yesterdays sales would have been way down I suspect. Sales will start to increase a lot in the run up to Xmas. Might be down for next week though but after that I think we will see increases. A big drop in sales for JLS compared to last year - and Westlife not even breaking the 100K barrier is a disaster. Maybe they should get Brian back - not that it will matter much. LOL. I am delighted to see IAOOC already in the top 20 best sellers of the year - it's success has proved far greater than expected for a second hits collection. Hopefully it continues selling well over Xmas. Half a million before the end of the year is not out of thw question :D

TT Single. The Flood (2010)
The Voice Of Holland Performance was great - I was startingt o get bored of seeing The Flood live as it was essentially the same each time - so I was really glad to see Robbie really sell the song and performance in the way he did - yes he took over a bit but I don't blame him - it must be boring just standing there doing the same thing each performance. I liked it when the mic wouldn't work and he just threw it behind him  That second video - the one from the Swedish talk show is without question the best performance of the Flood vocally - Rob's voice is flawless and so clear. The other lads sounded really good too. For anyone who didn't see the interview - here it is. The best interview yet imo - it's just Rob and Gary but it's a realy good watch. I think it helped Rob relax which is why he was so vocally spot on with the live performance. 10 minutes in http://svtplay.se/t/102974/skavlan - also the live performance at the very end. The youtube video is slightly out of sinc.

Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
A) Mediatraffic is a load of nonsense in general. The vast majority of the sales are complete guess work. B ) This 519K figure is for the UK and Ireland only - as the album wasn't released elsewhere until the following Friday. But even at that it would indicate it sold at best a few hundred copies in Ireland which is rubbish. The total WW figure for the first week should have been 540K easily including Ireland. C) We won't see European sales until next week Mediatraffic chart - but even at that whatever figure will likely be further rubbish. I can see it selling 250K in the UK/Ireland this week and at most 150K throughout Europe. Therefore 400K for next week's Mediatraffic fig. I can see them coming up with either a much lower than that or much higher. So officially #1 in Germany and Denmark? And rumored in The Netherlands and Switzerland? A huge improvement on #14, #13, #68 and #22 in those respective countries from TT's last album The Circus. It's the first time since their comeback that TT have reached #1 with an album outside the UK/Ireland. I will be interested to see how it does in France? They charted there once in the 90's so have a very small fanbase - but they were on French TV the other day promoting so it is surely going to be their highest ever charting album in France ever? I think they are waiting to see how it does before announcing a date as Rob had said before there would be a Paris date - plus Gary said on the TV show they want to perform there.

Late Late Show in Ireland - December 10th
Brilliant news aboutt he solo performane :o :cheer: I have to say I am shocked Robbie will be on the Late Late Show. He has never bothered and was always seen as being 'too big' for the LLS - and I never thought I would see him on. I guess seeing as Ireland is TT's second biggest market things are different than when Rob was solo and didn't have to bother. I will look forward to it but the host of the LLS is truly appalling and has slagged Robbie off in the past and doesn't deserve to interview Robbie if you ask me and I know for a fact he is very much of the view that Robbie needed TT to revive his career. Another one of those braindead journalists sadly. I can't stand him anyway though.

Italian X Factor
Another strong performance - Rob's vocal is very strong at the moment. I can't help being a little bored already though - all three peformances have been essentially the same in terms of the movements, staging etc etc. There is a lack of the spontaneity that I love with Rob performing! The Blue Room
Yes, but with the cuts that are coming I'd be better off on the dole. <_< Brilliant news it has now been announced there will be an election in January. The fat lady has sung and the end is nigh. Thank f*** they will be gone in less than 2 months. Watch this. My fave journalist Vincent Browne has lambasted our useless waffling baffoon of a leader last night. ^_^ cXOKtr3lDOY

Monday NOV 22nd BBC Radio 1 Live
They are trying to decide between Kidz and Happy Now for second single. Want fans online to decide. All they need to do is look on forums - Happy Now isn't even being suggested - Kidz is the clear winner by a mile!

Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
Amazing sales - a little disappointed it didn't pass 550K though... I doubt it will repeat 'The Circus' 400K for 3 weeks - we are not near enough to Xmas for that sort of consistancy in massive sales. I think it will sell over 250K this week beating JLS and Westlifw with relative ease. I still do think via the word of mouth of how different this album is sales won't end up being as massive as predicted by the end of the year. It will still be the years' best selling album easily but I don't think due to the change of direction that it will quite repeat the sales of Circus in terms of huge sales in the lead up to Xmas. They are on Radio 1 right now - deciding between Kidz and Happy Now for the second single. They want the fans online to decide it appears. All they need to do is look on the forums - Happy Now isn't even being suggested - almost everyone is saying Kidz and has been since the album leaked. It's a no brainer.

In And Out Of Consciousness: 1990-2010
Yeah I'd say 30-35K - sales now over 270,000. Should pass 300K this week. I think it's possible it will pass half a million by the end of the year, possibly even outsell Rudebox's 4 year tally.

MSN Interview with Rob and TT
Just finished watching this. It is an enjoyable interview. It was funny when Jay said he still gets the least amount of fan mail and Rob said he didn't agree as he had been reading comments on youtube and presumably noticed lots of comments about Jay - but then Gary jumped and said to Rob "Your not still reading it.I told you" Obviously Rob must have been upset some negative comments about him on there and Gary told him to stop reading them. That amused me. Then Rob insisted he had only been reading comments on vids of TT as a four piece and started saying how along with Michael Buble, Jason was his man-crush.

Album sales Progress - Fastest seling album of the century!
FINALLY we are seeing a good effect in Europe. I wonder if that 'Popstars' performance helped? Is it broadcast throughout Europe? I know it was 'Shame' but it may have helped. No real promo has been done yet apart from magazine interviews etc so once proper European promo starts I think it is going to be a big success. It has got off to a strong start. Itunes UK: #1 Germany: #1 Austria: #1 Denmark: #1 Switzerland: #1 Luxembourg: #1 Ireland: #1 Netherlands: Netherlands: #4 Belgium: #6

Take That Progress sales
They have not sold 40M albums. 40M records (singles+albums). They have sold around 27-28M albums and the rest singles sales. TT have sold more albums and singles in the UK though - and more singles globally than Westlife. Westlife are mainly ahead on albums for two reasons - 1) they have released more and 2) they enjoyed big success in Asia earlier on in their career for the first two or three albums. Some people still insist on believing Simon and Louis's waffle about Coast To Coast selling over 12M WW and World Of Our Own selling 10M WW - the facts are both albums combined have not even sold 10M. Westlife's sales are rapidly slowing down with each release whereas TT are now bigger than ever, so it's only a matter of time before they overtake the overall records sold. And Charis if adding Robbie's sales annoys you then why don't you just add Brian McFaddens solo sales to Westlife's tally? I am sure that will even things up. :smoke:

Children In Need - This Friday
Yes and considering it will be sold on Amazon for only £1 from Monday to next Friday sales next week could mean it passes 1M by next Sunday :o

Take That Progress sales
I heard this earlier today. It is shocking. Amazon will make a huge loss in profit but obviously attract loads of people to the site who will buy other things. Due to the media picking up on this it could damage TT's sales tomorrow as people will buy it next week for £1, however potential sales next week are going to be insane due to this. It is not out of the question it will pass the 1M mark by next Sunday. Has this sort of thing ever happened before with a new release? It is going to be very interesting to see how successful it turns out to be. Consdering how huge sales are on Amazon and how this is being publicized in the media - they better have enough stock of both albums as the demand is going to be huge, especially considering people will not pass up the chance of getting away with spending only a pound for a Xmas present for someone
