Glastonbury 2007 news
Glasto is something unique and special and 2-3 headline bands you (and I) happen to disagree with doesn't change it... the pyramid stage is simply one that won't have much of what we want. there are 30+ other stages to choose from so can't we move on now?! :D

bloody hell! let the idiots have a couple bands on the main stage!! it's not like the pyramid stage has very good sound anyways!! lol!

Glastonbury 2007 news
Let me get this straight - I like the list of bands you made... but the point is to have something a bit more 'pop' for the pedestrians. nearly half the people at glasto at workers don't forget... My main point is headliners on any of 4 stages that I don't like makes my life easy as I've had some tough choices in the past... Wacken metal, M'Era Luna and Treffen seem a bit heavy for my tastes these days... though I was a big Industrial/Goth fan as a kid. Last time at Benicassim I caught Eisterzend Neubauten (spelling from memory) and was very good!

Oxegen Festival
echo i LOVED at glasto 2003, but 2005 they frankly sucked. Agreed they should be headlining as they are one of the better bands of our generation... Doubt they will be last up that day tho, but that's a bit of a blessing in disguise as the last act starts at 3-4 AM at this festi! Hopefully it will be the Strokes as not really bothered about them either. Moz is there as he pulled out in 2004 and owe them a favor... maybe it's the only day they could play and put them with FF. I doubt I'll watch either of them tbh so not bothered. I also hate Scissor Sisters and won't even be there that day (it's a bit extra to go that first night and we decided to spend the night in Barcelona instead...)

Glastonbury 2007 news
come on.. certainly kylie is the same 'jokey entertaining factor' as Tony Bennet et all... in my mind they are! i mean.. i'd just be going to look at her legs - lol! My first glasto I was dragged to see Rolf Harris. HORRIBLE!! uh... nearly every band you just mentioned have played the last 3 years... i know as I saw them! I think the one or two really big mainstream acts to close the Pyramid is what a lot of the people want - so let them have them! There's always 2-3 bands I want to see at closing time so bands like this make my decision much is easier. Tbh how many REALLY big bands are out there that would make you happy (to close the Pyramid, not the Other Stage)? I can only think of Radiohead... maybe on a stretch U2 or REM (tho I'd pass on both them)... Pixies maybe? Anyways... there's only a handful that exist anyways and you can't get them playing every year! It's certainly a MORE coroporate event than it was in the 60's (that was my point about earlier when saying the 60's), but its still far more green then any other festi i've ever been to with all the hippies, vegitarian food, good causes and money raised for charity... As for 'better value' european festis, which do you mean? As stated on another thread i'm off to beinicassim again this year (but as for value it's not - as you still have transport to add on)... and none of the european festis i've been to have the space that Glasto has nor any of the 'do-goodness' that Glasto has (or tries to have if you will). When was the last time you went to Glasto btw?

Oxegen Festival
I'll ignore the Glasto comments as already arguing on another thread :) But I have to agree here... I was going to do Oxygen this year as the line-up looked quite good the last few years but after talking to people that have been it's basically just another Reading/Leeds/V with no soul so I passed. Last year I did Lowlands (in Netherlands) and while better then the average UK festis, it still wasn't that great. In 2003 I went to Benicassim and liked it alot so doing that again this year. It's next to GREAT beach and really chilled out. Lineup looks surprisingly good too I must confess! Bands I plan to see are Echo & the Bunnymen, Pixies (woot!), Coldcut, Isolee, James Holden, Nathan Fake, Tiga, White Rose Movement, Editors, Morning Runner, The Organ, Soulwax, 2 Many Djs, Rufus Wainwright, Superpitcher, Depeche Mode (top 5 band of mine and never seen before), Art Brut, dEUS, The Rakes, and We Are Scientists. Glastonbury 2007 news
lol... i've been there 4 times... i think i know what the point of Glasto is and if you still think it's the 60's you are sadly mistaken. Glasto is and will always be the best Festi in the world (i've been to 30 or so in the US and all over Europe) and one of the main reasons is the HUGE amount of different music styles. Just double checked and the only time I ever went to the Pyramid Stage last year was for the end of New Order and beginning of Coldplay... sadly both bored me to tears (New Order is one of my top 5 ever bands). 2004 I only saw Wilco and Pj Havey on the Pyramid Stage... Never mind all that - I think YOU miss the point more of Glastonbury if you worry so much about what acts are there, espeicially the headliners. It's maybe 1/3 about the music for me and the 50 people I know that go regularly...

New Book!!! Rough Trade - labels unlimited by Rob Young
hmm... will have to check that out

Glastonbury 2007 news
the more c**p acts they get on the main stage the better! keeps all the morons there while I'm loving the stuff at the Other stage or John Peel stage...

Britpop?
what?! really!? when?! No joke, seen them a few times and honestly think they are best all-round live indie band around. (have seen Arcade Fire in the last year and they were admittadly better, but it was just one show...)
-
Britpop?
sorry - should have specified more. I've seen them 4-5 times 'normal' and once doing a 'nite sessions' (and seeing another in spain this summer). The 'nite sessions' are their own songs done without guitars etc and just synths... as stated above, more danceable. *note - 2 many dj's is completely seperate. It's simply two main people from Soulwax (they are brothers) mixing/dj'ing songs. Where they stand out is their 'normal' live set. Truly a great indie live band with so much great music and their best album is easily 'Much Against Everyone's Advice' which you should all check out as there's only a couple songs from 'Any Minute Now' that stand out much...

Pete Doherty's Babyshambles Dropped By Record Label
stop buying nme - he'll be forgetton about soon enough then...

The Most Important Band Of The 21st Century So Far?
you are ALL on crack! (slams door on way out)
-
Spinto Band – Did I Tell You
pretty dire sound actually... i only care much for 'Direct To The Helmet'.
-
Britpop?
Soulwax. Also the best live european indie band as well! (no joke)
-
The Raconteurs - Steady, As She Goes
if you like this make sure to get Brenden Benson's last 2 albums.
-
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
new album is a bit of a grower, but still nothing as tood as their other albums. 'When It's All Over...' remanining their best album by far. Whenever Snow Patrol is mentioned I always make a point of reminding people to go out and buy Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer. You WILL love it.
-
Snow Patrol - You're All That I Have
Aye - it's off of 'Son of Evil Reindeer'. The easiest song to like of theirs as a near perfect (albeit simple) pop song. If you put a gun to my head I'd prolly pick that as my favorite...
-
Sigor Ros - Hoppipola
this album has some understandable lyrics... if you you icelandic (danish right?). It was a different album that was 100% a made up language, this one only a little bit. Anyways... don't try to understand the lyrics... as that's missing the point! never thought to relate this to Cocteau Twins but I see your point. The music is COMPLETELY different though... just the vocals that have any resemblance...
-
Snow Patrol - You're All That I Have
ok - i'll bite. Can you guys be a bit more informative on why you like it?! It's terribly bland to my ears (i've heard the whole album mind) and can't understand why you like it... maybe you like the recent coldplay, keane, doves, and athlete records too (which again, i also found very bland/boring). I'm not being snobbish.. I rate their album 'When It's All Over...' an outstanding 8/10 and their side project Reindeer Section, 'Son of Evil Reindeer' a 9/10 (of the last 5 years there are maybe 10 records that have a 9 or 10 of ten so that's high praise indeed)... and other stuff in this 'genre' i like included longview and thirteen senses.

the hives -very underrated band or not?
a one trick pony band. A pretty good trick, but not great - so no, they are not underated. They sold quite a bit and have a fan base but until they branch out more they are not going to get any bigger....
-
Snow Patrol - You're All That I Have
listening to the album now... easily their worst album...

this weeks NME CD whats on it and is it worth getting?
The fly is the only mag i read regularly actually. They'll mention some of the c**p that NME bigs up, but is mostly about interesting music....

Reading and Leeds Festival
as usual it's flavor of the month crap, or has beens that are still popular with the kids. I've never liked the main line-up at reading anyways, but still enjoy the side tents. Was going to go all w/end but busy now so may make Friday (only) now...
