  10. Not seen everyone's lists yet so thought I'd start a thread... mine below
  11. some of the bands that no one seemed to talk about much that were very good are Asobi Seksu, Caiotone For the Painfully Alone, King Biscuit Time, Band of Horses, and Whitest Boy Alive, and Tapes n Tapes. One song of that lot...? New Years by Asobi Seksu I guess... edit - Peter, Bjorn and John had quite a bit of buzz and commercial success i thought... I've heard them on the radio a few times even (and considering how little I listen to radio that's saying something!). Saw them live too with King Creosote - was a very enjoyable gig!
  12. never heard of them actually - sound decent enough tho :)
  13. i honestly can't think of anyone that deserves the title yet... if you did sub-categories I'd be ok, but overall? no ****in way!
  14. i have the box set so it was more by chance i picked that one tbh. As i had so many to choose from I did the rest of the cd and then picked the best song left... this stands out a bit as not a 'normal' christmas song... but easily my favorite of the sampler... :)
  15. Here's the holiday mix I made... 16. really? without looking up the dates i would be very surprised if JAMC came after the Cocteau Twins... Not familiar with their EARLY work either, but JAMC are widely credited with originating the movement...
  17. this is not nealy as good as many of their previous singles...
  18. thought slowdive was on my list... i guess not. JAMC were one, if not the main originator of shoegaze... it's not very mellow like many of their followers but the effects (reverb) was something they started...
  19. i got it last year when it came out... it's a fun/decent cover of the '12 days of christmas' - which made it on to my xmas mix this year (will post that shortly)...
  20. have most all their albums/eps and a considerable amount of singles etc. Seen them 4 times live, including a very cool invite only small record release party performance in Seattle for Munki. Easily one of my top 5 bands. not sure what else to say... am happy to answer any questions etc if you want. Other bands to check out if you like this are My Bloody Valentine, Curve, Lush, Ride, Swervedriver, and more resently Black Rebel Motorcycle Club...
  21. heck - i may even do something similar... but will be just top 20 songs i think. My head would explode if I tried to go any further - haha! the big surprise is how few songs we both choose, but quite a few similar bands :)
  22. nothing i can add to this... suffice to say that oasis are well beyond their sell-by date!
  23. i'm waiting for this to finish and will have one big reply :)
  24. was starting to get worried if you were going to have any jamc here... haha. These days the primary album I'll want to listen to is Darklands so a decent choice (though this song is maybe in my top 10...) If i ever do something like this my #1 song would be by JAMC... not telling you the song tho... :) One of my favorite mixes ever is the Dance Remix of 'Far Gone & Out' though. Off a ltd edition 12''...
