ok - fair enough. I normally pick an odd track as my fav's bands so that's fair enough. For instance, my favorite Ride track is 'Close my Eyes' off the Smile EP. I won't say it's better than Vapour Trail... but I just like better... gimme some time to go through this and will make comments. Some stuff on here I actually don't know much about! :)

ok - i'm not really sure what this thread is about so before I comment can you explain it a bit better? Is this YOUR favorite 50 tracks of all time? Or... your favorite track from your top 50 bands... or, or or... etc :) quite a few tracks I would have picked a differnt song from that group so before I make such comments I'd like to know where you are coming from is all.

what's link to the Top 30 Dance/Techno tracks - will check that out. will get on to your thread now then - it's a BIG thread and haven't really had time to stop and think it through as it's so well thought out... ...what you think of this mix btw? don't just look at the tracks, more interested in the mixing/feeling people get... :)

i agree... but again.. i'd rather a great band continued to make music, even if it's not as good as their old stuff. They have a much better chance of making another great album than a band you've never heard of...

i'll agree on the voices all being pretty weak - that's for sure. Let me listen to those songs again tonight and get back to ya ;)

hot chip are like new order? wtf?! i'm more than happy for new order to keep making music. tbh i just bough 'waiting for the...' this last weekend and it's not that great... but still much better than most the drivel out there... So long as they stay active in the industry tho i won't cry any tears if they do break up... EASILY ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER! not sure if i want another electronic album... will be hard to do with Marr palying/touring with Modest mouse now don't forget. I only much liked their first album anyways I must confess....

20 years ago 'rock' had a metal edge to it.. .radiohead, oasis, etc wouldn't even be considered. nirvana never tried, nor wanted to get such fame. I've never been the biggest fan (and i'm from seattle) and only have Bleach, but you can't take away what they did. Yes, bands like Pavement, Pixies, Sonic Youth deserved the success more.... but that's more often the case than not in music unfortuneatly...

aye - from that list the best 'rock' band is easily nirvana. I'd like to see Pavement and Sonic on that list to choose from though....

you have pulp and Slipknot on the same list? ..never thought i'd see the day...

/ \ l l l all true. if you like heavy music, that's a mostly on the punk side then you should check out black flag. I've seen Henry Rollins on tour (solo) and was pretty good. He's a very angry man (at least on stage!). Nowadays he mostly does spoken word tours though which a lot of friends of mine in the US go to every time he's in town. Never did make it to one of those...

first time i've heard of duke special. Quite good songs those two, reminds me of badly drawn boy! I still voted for Duke Spirit though, been a fan for a couple years now

parts of this song I like... so easily my fav they have made, but that's not saying much...

was halfway their with t*ts already. He is a VERY WEIRD man for those who do not know him.. MAY go see Damo Suziki on nov 2 (http://www.wegottickets.com/event/13153). Really want to see Early Years (post-rock/indie) band I've been raving about for months since I saw them open for electralane. Problem is I am going to fabric the 3rd and then tapes & tapes on the 4th in oxford... thinking i don't need another concert in that few days as will be too much :(

not heard enough of either to make a comment. I was obviously only into industrial for about 5 years. Even Throbbing Gristle I just heard much of in the last few years.. saw them at ATP and was... interesting!
