  1. the world isn't black or white my friend. If you stick to your definition there are plenty of bands on indie labels that are not indie... Both those above bands I'd say are indie or alternative... but on the kiddie side is all and not very good of course... all genre's have better/worse music and I'm ok with that too...
  2. brazil?! hahaha!!!
  3. wha?! you lost me... you know... OMD! http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search...ield-artist=OMD
  4. give me break, i'm no babe in the woods... nme or q etc have no bearing in this conversation. indie is a 'sound' not a label. To me Indie is musicians with talent making music from the heart without over production. Some indie bands get lucky and get offered a major label deal and would be idiots to turn it down... but they are still indie bands.
  5. i thought the last album lacked much inspiration personally... nothing against them tho
  6. the best band i ever got my parents into of mine is OMD... but they are in their 60's so i take what i can get... (nothing against omd, but they would never like any of my indie guitar bands. period.)
  7. (go to their myspace - much better sound there. I gave up on the video as well)
  8. pretty good - have requested a promo
  9. looking much forward to this... i expect this to surprise a lot of people (if any of his performances from last year are any indication)
  10. one of their weaker ones for sure... i'll pick up 'What Are You Going To Do With Your Life' 9 out of 10 times over Evergreen... (both of similar ilk)
  11. we'll just get into an arguement of what 'indie' is i suppose... but indie is a style, a type of of sound if you will (to me). There are plenty of examples of bands on indie labels that are not indie than vice verca. All the bands you listed above were indie - i simply refuse to worry about a label. Nirvana was sup-pop until after nevermind was released, that makes them indie even for you. I can also assue you that all the above groups were on the college radio charts (the us indie charts back then) at the time as well. yeah - never thought about what label they were in the UK for munki. I was at the sub-pop record release party for munki in seattle in fact, one of those friends of a friend situation to get the ticket for myself and my older bro (a fan from the beginning). A small bar with 100 people or so and was pretty funny as true to form they were very drunk (if not wasted on drugs). Just the 2 of them and i don't think they got through one song with out restarting or simply mumbling the words at parts as they didn't konw them... just realized that was 10 years ago! ykes!
  12. big fan... this group has had a lot of press and hype in the last year FYI. Just in case you don't know, Ben Gibbard is the singer for DCFC but also Postal Service (another band you should check out if you haven't before...)
  13. whole heartedly agree abou e&tb. Have all their albums and while some are only decent, some are absolute classics. Much of their recent offerings I've enjoyed a lot as well...
  14. i don't give a flying f--k* what label JAMC** were on... they were indie through and through and are a perfect example that 'indie' is not just what label you are on... *their last album was on sub-pop don't forget ** one of my top 5 life long groups
  15. i bought both albums... both decent, but they were never going to get any bigger...
  16. on the good drugs you mean :P :yahoo:  :yahoo:
  17. ordered this album actually...
  18. i may grab it... out of some weird morbid cuiriosity about the bands on their from my town (reading). Seen most of them and they are $h!te
  19. ordering it now :)
  20. i'll take up a challange over the next couple weeks to list my top 10 songs... will be back!
  21. i didn't mind roxette even at the time! was in Sweden win they were huge actually... ...oh.. the skeletons in my closet.... haha fav swedish band tho is The Nomads. Mostly big in the late 80's and early 90's. Think Sisters of Mercy...
  22. i'd like to hear this album actually... always had a soft spot for swedes too :)
  23. what a joke... as usual a STUPID 'poll' by a magazine simply trying to kow-tow to their readers tastes to make them feel better about liking bland/generic music. A real poll of this sort would likely not have anything from the last 20 years and have stuff most of us indie fans wouldn't care for (beatles, lennon, dylan, stones... etc). If I made my own list, 'Love will tear us apart' would make it tho ;)
  24. odd as used to really like this band, but any recent offereings have bored me to tears... will pass on this release and won't bother seeing them... saw them twice in the mid 90's tho :)
  25. it's their worst album easily... only songs I put on rotation were It's Beginning To Get To Me and Set The Fire To The Third Bar...
