  1. haha ... i'm imagining Yukon now. A couple dogs barking and the sound of a seal being killed by hunters... and the cd ends :)
  2. i don't think anyone actually expects him to do all 50 states... let's be honest, some really don't need to be done anyways!! Lol I just ordered Avalanche today :)
  3. Tears for Fears did get a bit... pedestrian. The Hurting is still a great album stand by that one! OMD is great. I'm not afraid of Pop and they made some of the best... I had no idea they had anything to do with Atomic Kittens tho...
  4. i think they are just trying to get more respect as musicians. They don't wont just be considered an (indie) pop band...
  5. anyone care to post the whole list?
  6. will look at uncut as a JAMC feature. I'd agree with Arcade Fire being in the top 50 or so.. .it was a superb debut!
  7. nah... he's not selling that much records actually... he get's great reviews tho!
  8. on that list Joy Division. The actual best debut album is Psychocandy of course...
  9. i'm not against Uncut.. just doen't seem to be enough bands I like that they talk about so don't bother picking it up... I also don't really care much about interviews etc these days... i just want to hear music. A good mag to me is one that let's me know about new bands and Uncut sticks to bands I already know about nearly all the time...
  10. It's not so black and white! There are some that are (reading/leads/Virgin) and some that are not (Big Chill, Glade, Secret Garden Party) and then some in the middle (Glastonbury, Ashton Court, Guilford)
  11. I'd say yes it would.. but what you don't want is people getting this as their first album and then being turned off by him so I agree with the tag being there...
  12. i didn't mean to give that impression... just re-read my post and understand the confusion. TTWS are light (acoustic) indie - HATBF are $h!t. That's all :)
  13. it's light indie but wouldn't associate the two bands... and while the music of Toad the Wet Sprocket (named from a Monty Python Sketch FYI) is very good, Hootie and the Blowfish are $h!te (and a worse name I think) ;)
  14. haha - you are right... I have a few guilty pleasures from my teens that I put in there is all... I certainly agree with you that it's not a better album, or really should even be on the list. It's hard making a all time list when you have been listening to music for over 15 years is all... if i made my top 50 albums according to tastes right now it would be pretty different - likely only half would stay on that list...
  15. that comes in at 50 on my list. I made this list last year and is a pretty good attempt at my top 50... i'd change a few things now but oh well... Slowdive would make my top 100 with Souvlaki, along with Curve etc (showgaze is/was definately one of my fav. genre's). to finish off the list: 11 The Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer 12 The Postal Service - Give Up 13 The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses 14 DJ Shadow - Endtroducing 15 Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures 16 Low - Things We Lost in the Fire 17 m83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts 18 The Cure - Mixed Up 19 The Fall - 458489 A-Sides 20 The Pixies - Bossonova 21 Grandaddy - Under the Western Freeway 22 Primal Scream - Screamadelica 23 Soulwax - Much Against Everyones Advice 24 Tears for Fears - The Hurting 25 The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy 26 The Cure - Standing on a Beach (A Sides) 27 Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk 28 Four Tet - Pause 29 Grandaddy - Sumday 30 Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights 31 James - James 32 Snow Patrol - When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up 33 Sonic Youth - Goo 34 The American Analog Set - From Our Living Room To Yours 35 The Pixies - Surfer Rosa 36 Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People 37 Sigur Rós - Ãgætis Byrjun 38 Colder - Again 39 Toad the Wet Sprocket - Fear 40 Explosions in the Sky - Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place 41 Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Architecture & Morality 42 Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine 43 Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 44 The House of Love - The House of Love (1990) 45 Electronic - Electronic 46 Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One 47 Elefant - Sunlight Makes me Paranoid 48 My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 49 Soup Dragons - Lovegod 50 Sugar - Copper Blue
  16. here's my lifelong top ten.... 1 The The - Soul Mining 2 Radiohead - OK Computer 3 New Order - Substance 4 Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted 5 The Beta Band - The 3 E.P.'s 6 The Pixies - Doolittle 7 Depeche Mode - Violator 8 The Jesus & Mary Chain - Darklands 9 Radiohead - The Bends 10 Ride - Nowhere
  17. Brandon needs to lay off the coke I think and worry about making music that will sound good after a years time. I mean, it was fun music, but no one is still listening to his stuff anymore. The Killers were after all quite manufactured...
  18. great news! I didn't know the pipettes were so hot! I'll be sure to see them soon :)
  19. I'm going to Benicasim only this year it looks like... wanted to do a couple others but timing was wrong or the line-up was horrible...
  20. xpress get a bit... uh... cheeze dance at time for my tastes. But will still investigate this due to the colloborations involved for sure :0
  21. pretty good band i though too!
  22. yeah - they are called chavs!
  23. Well... there's a few incidents of scots beating people up just for wearing an england shirt... even a 7 year old! http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2006/06...ry8469910t0.asp too bad we can't neuter these idiots...
  24. correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have your own local BBC news and even local stations?! England does make up the vast majority of the population so the BBC is obliged to do what they want after all... Lastly - just do what I do 11 months of the year and turn the bloody tv off! I admit I've watched a ton of Footie this WC (and defaulted to supported England, but that's mainly cause I want to be here for the parties) but normally I watch maybe 1-2 hours a week... it's easy to avoid this c**p if you want...
  25. still not listened yet (had a few amazon cd's i ordered come in) but the NME itself i've browsed and it's not that bad... i may pick it up and read it occasionally again these days...
