I find it quite sad that the efforts of thousands of white students during the 60s and 70s who protested at equal rights and anti-apartheid rallies and who were bashed, beaten and arrested for their efforts have been forgotten by the young generation of blacks. Maybe that piece of history should be taught in schools too for those who thought that EVERY white person was a racist. There were a lot who werent who did stand up. Too bad some people find it so easy to forget.
  6. We Australians are totally outraged by this totally inadequate and very sick outcome for this little girl. Whats worse is that this little has been gang raped TWICE by members of her aboriginal community. Another time when she was SEVEN years old. Here is a bit of what happened to this poor child.... The girl was gang-raped at the age of seven in Aurukun on Cape York in 2002, and was later put into foster care with a non-indigenous family in Cairns. However, child safety officers in April 2006 returned her to Aurukun, where she was raped again at the age of 10. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007/12/11/1197135463456.html Because of the public outcry a few heads have rolled. But I really want to see this judge pay big time for those disgusting comments that she made about this young girl. Talk about a heartless b**ch.
  7. 2h is also #1 in Israel I think. It's pretty dire really. It's only been #1 in Australia, Spain and Israel. Those chart positions look like something Dannii would accomplish. And even then she's made fun of for it. I hope Kylies next single does a lot better for her sake. I personally would've thought that it would walk off the shelves in the U.K Lets just hope that there is a turnaround with her next single. Don't mean to sound negative, but it's pretty bad when you have to compare her chart places to the Spice Girls who have been off the scene for a decade. Shouldn't she be compared to her peers ala Britney, Madonna, Xtina etc??? I bought 2Hs as I really like the song. As did a lot of Aussies. Too bad there isn't anything even remotely like it on the rest of the album or I would've bought that too. I have a really strong feeling that her next album is going to be the album that X should've been. Progressive and personal.
  8. I was talking about immigration in general as opposed to it being brit-centric or Oz-centric, if you read my post. And our natives came from Sri Lanka and Asia originally. They also are migrants if you want to go back thousands of years. Also a lot of the criminals that you speak of were sent here for STEALING A LOAF OF BREAD and other very minor infringements that wouldn't even get you home detention in this day and age. So lets gets things in PERSPECTIVE.
  9. Yeah but it's chicken and the egg and which one comes first. If they weren't the ones to migrate first to somewhere else and are leaving as a reaction to it, then how can they be hypocrites? People only flee from home countries when it is over run with people of conflicting cultures. The old melting pot theory is nice in Utopia but rarely works in real life unfortunately. I'd love to see millions of europeans, australians, americans etc all of a sudden want to migrate to say , the middle east and not have any of the natives say one word about it and just accept it. Of course they wouldn't. If they felt they couldn't do anything about it , then they'd leave too. Just thought I'd add that so it isn't so British-centric. It happens in a lot of countries.
  10. It was bound to happen with all the negative publicity surrounding obesity and also the government harping on about it, (here in Oz at least) that it would lead to discrimination of obese people in the employment sector. The governments can't have it both ways. Put out all negative health warnings about obesity and then still expect employers to employ them. They can't have it both ways. There has been obese people since the beginning of time and there always will be no matter what for various reasons. It really reminds me of the early days of AIDS when people with it lost their jobs and were made to feel like the scourge of the earth. Until governments and lawmakers stepped in and stopped the discrimination. Yes, there were innocent AIDS victims, but a lot also got it through lifestyle choices and stupidity. I see no difference with obesity. EVERYONE has the right to employment. Fat or Skinny. But when the media and also governments talk a certain sector of the community down , then of course there will be a backlash and people won't be able to find employment. Rant over. I find the nail disorder one funny. lol
  11. Immigration is fine when it's controlled but if people feel they are being outnumbered they do what nature intended. It's either fight ( all that will do is get you in jail) or flight. Obviously people are opting for the more civilized latter.
  12. I'm really sorry for the people this affects. If this happened here, I would be absolutely spitting chips.

  17. I've often wondered why the police department don't have clerical staff to fill in the forms. The police could just use a dictaphone to tape the facts or necessary information and just give the tape to the typists to type out. It might cost a bit out of the budget but it would free up all police to spend their time on the beat and not in front of keyboard.
  18. thanks for that info. I thought for a minute we'd totally lost our marbles here down under. :w00t:
  19. Hey, thanks for going to all that trouble with the Youtube links. It's pretty good for a rock 100.
  20. Whats the point of having a police force then? WTF do they do all day? I doubt even that big database that they want so badly can help them with this. Sounds like some stuff is just so minor they don't even want to touch it.
