!!!
They're meant to be pronounced chk chk chk, so that's not an issue. I enjoyed a few of the songs off their album but they're not amazing. Still, they sound like they'd be good live.

Manic Street Preachers Unveil Full Album Details
Haven't they return to their politicised roots at least twice already? As much as I liked their early stuff since the lead guy became fat they've produced some terrible music.

O2 Wireless festival lineup released
No it's also in Leeds the same weekend - the lineup for that is available from http://www.o2wirelessfestival.co.uk/leeds/index.asp Most of the acts in London will also be playing there.

A Learner until you're 20 in the great driving test shake-up
Rubbish. Most car accidents involve males between 18 and 25 - see http://www.rospa.com/roadsafety/info/youngdrivers.pdf. Yes, old people do have worse eyesight, granted, but they drive a lot less and often much more carefully. Simple facts show the worst drivers are the youngest. Rather than retest the elderly, they should retest drivers every year for the first five years of their licence, that would make them more attentive and hammer home the safety points.

Wikipedia - how accurate is the online encyclopedia?
Yeah I agree use with caution. Unless an article has references at the bottom to back up what it's saying then always take with a pinch of salt. Especially ones that have the words [citation needed] in the text - I've been noticing more and more of those recently

O2 Wireless festival lineup released
http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=364688 The full lineup below Thursday June 14 * White Stripes * Queens of the Stone Age * + more acts to be announced Friday June 15 * Faithless * Badly Drawn Boy * Just Jack * + more acts to be announced Saturday June 16 * Daft Punk * CSS * + more acts to be announced Sunday June 17 * Kaiser Chiefs * Editors * The Cribs * The Rakes * The Twang * + more acts to be announced Looks pretty good - some real blue-chip quality acts in the White Stripes and the Kaisers. Also liking some of the smaller acts like the Cribs and the Rakes being in there as well. Looks pretty decent, I'm there for the Thursday and Sunday for definite.

Incoming report: Record labels lose out bands become brands
Cool - Passenger, the band talked about in that article I've posted a video link to in this thread and they seem pretty decent, a good example of this new financial model.
-
Passenger
Cool - I didn't know they were involved something new and different like that. Looks interesting - any scheme where artists get more control over their music is a good thing. Thanks for posting that.

Passenger
Saw Passenger at Spitz in London last week - I though they were rather good. Anyone else here seen these guys? I'd really given them a go, especially if you're after a gentle acoustic kind of sound. Obligatary YouTube vid - I think this is their latest single - Wicked Mans Rest: bHB_mImdGRo

Why does nobody like the Magic Numbers any more?
Mika's voice is annoying if you ask me, all the babbling and showing off. As for the Magic Numbers, theire second album simply wasn't very good.
-
Maximo Park - Our Velocity
It's OK but yeah I agree with everyone who says it sounds like Limassol. Not much a progression from the first album - which had a lot of promise and some fine tracks. Also I don't like the synth on it.
-
Mumm-Ra - What Would Steve Do
Not too bad - though they really remind me of another band but I can't remember who. Good to see them touching the top 40 - pity about the name, I reckon they'll come to regret it in time - will the Thundercats creators sue them I wonder?

What Blur/Gorillaz/TGTB&TQ song are you listening to atm?
Been playing "1992" from 13 a lot recently - one of the most underrated songs on that album if you ask me.

AllMusic Guide to Blur, etc
Nice one, cheers, makes for good reading
-
Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby + Yours Truly, Angry Mob Album
Ruby's a good song, it's still enjoyable despite everyone playing it to death. Not heard any of the rest of the new album yet

FA Cup 4th round replays
Great game - good to see the mighty Gooners eventually take it, even if they had to do it the hard way!
-
Girls Aloud vs Sugababes - Walk This Way
I reckon it will be #1 but that is less about the quality of the song and more the taste of the British public :|

Who are the most irritating people on TV
Davina bloody McCall. The recent Big Brother big fuss has shown her up for being the inept hack she is. Anyone see her on Room 101 the other night? Totally out of her depth.

Pet Shop Boys
"Always On My Mind" was a great cover, and "West End Girls" is my favourite original song. They've done quite a lot of good stuff, so I don't feel guilty about liking them at all!

New England Squad Announced!
In defence of Phil Neville I think he's matured a lot since moving to Everton. Jenas is just a f***ing clogger though, a terrible hoofer with very little talent. He gets walked over by any quality side. Agree on the omission of Kevin Nolan as well - the man deserves as much a chance as Barton does.

The Gossip; "Standing In the Way of Control"
Got the album over the weekend - yeah it is a good one, especially the title track "Standing in the Way of Control". But the video looks... ugh.

LATEST: Blur to go into the studio in August!!!!
Well it's probably not confirmed yet officially - the music business is a business and they've got to sort out all the details haven't they? Plus also right now they're all quite busy - Graham's got his solo career, Dave and Damon both have other bands they're playing with, and Damon has this opera for the Manchester Festival coming out this summer....

Interview With Damon Albarn and Jamie Hawlett
Your friend couldn't be that creative if his band name was ripped off an Alan Partridge sketch...
-
Damon Albarn - Closet Romantic
Heard it ages ago but I have not got a copy to hand now. I remember liking it - will have to download it too.
-
The View - Same Jeans
I think I'm about the same - some enjoyable songs, some pretty average to be honest, but overall I liked it.
