1. Stupid Girls
okay so it was the comeback she needed after the Try This singles failure so thankfully that paid off but we all knew the rest of the album wouldnt reflect this song. It does what it says on the tin, its pink having a pop at stupid girls in a rather catchy way.
6/10
2. Who Knew
bad choice of 2nd single imo, catchy chorus and nice summery feel but its all very lite and theres much better stuff on the album that has the same kinda vibe as this, its a nice enough song that introduces her chosen style for this album.
7/10
3. Long Way To Happy
FABULOUS, in a similar vein to some of the Try This stuff, this song really remins us why pink is up there. The vocals are spot on and the hard guitars and haunting piano gives this song its edge. Hopefully a future single but would be dandy left as an album track gem.
9/10
4. Nobody Knows
Starts beautifully, real emotive song which from previous works we know Pink does well (Family Portrait, Love song). The chorus kicks in and stops this from becoming a mundane ballad because lets face it we've heard it all before so its refreshing to turn the song on its head on the chorus giving it a lift. This could actually be a Christina Aguilera song, just dont tell pink i said that!
8/10
5. Dear Mr. President
Oh dear Pink goes all political.... but wait, it actually works. The stripped back acoustic approach makes you listen to what shes saying and the message, though contrived, does come through sucessfully, one of the albums highlights.
10/10
6. I'm Not Dead
Title track of the album and imo one of the weakest. In the chorus she attempts a different singing technique i've not heard her do before and though it works theres just nothing that stands out about this song. perhaps it will grow.
3/10
7. Cuz I Can
First song i heard from this new album quite a while ago now and already its quite dated, it doesnt sound fresh only a few months on. It feels like its been tagged in to keep the Stupid Girls-esque vibe of almost novelty song. Pink always has these style songs on her albums, CTMH was full of them, Misundaztood was Respect and on TT is was Oh My God.
That said the chorus is extremely catchy and though i feel its just reverting back to former styles its a good song, its bolshy, its brash and its good... haha i've totally changed my opinion just while writing this, i like it but i know i shouldnt. i dont like the ruf ruff bit. Actually i love it. oh god.
7/10
8. Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)
*ALBUM HIGHLIGHT PEOPLE* Okay... this is THEE best song on the album, just fab. The chorus is amazing and the whole beat of the song is brilliant its really uplifting and should totally be the 2nd single. Just awesome.
10/10
9. U + Ur Hand
First of the smut songs :D it is the weaker of the 2 imo (the other being bonus track Fingers) This song would do well on the radio, its catchy its fast and its got attitude.
8/10
10. Runaway
Pink slows back down with this one... well, atleast until the chorus! Its another sort of soft rock song, i'm sure its all very deep and personal but it washes straight over me really, its a bit of a filler (one of VERY few on this album) its just a bit meh
3/10
11. The One That Got Away
Another stripped back song, very country hicksville kinda song. tis good. Pink should do an acoustic album.
6/10
12. I Got Money Now
Another thats a kinda bit filler though i think it will grow on me. Oh and the song isnt as pretentious as the title suggests!
5/10
13. Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self
Everyone seems to love this but i'm not really keen at all yet. Its like a 2nd rate Family Portrait to be lying. its not a patch on FP and although it has potential to be great it doesnt quite get there, i cant get over the title myself, but still its not a bad song. This is a strong album.
6.5/10
14. Fingers
This is just dirty smutty brilliance! one of the best bonus tracks in the world ever part 9! PCD would have KILLED for this song.
8/10
15. Centrefold
Another good bonus track, chorus line Angel In The Centrefold reminds me of some song i cant remember what its called though... something like my memories have just been sold, my angel in the centrefold? anyway... its an okay song, nothing A-MAY-ZING like Fingers but its good shizz.
5/10
16. I've Seen The Rain
Fantastic hidden track! its awesome to hear her singing with her daddy and you get a real sense of where shes from with this. Its a beautiful little song to cap off an awesome album.
7/10
Overall the album is TRES strong... at times it sort of lapses and sounds to me like the album that should have came between Misundaztood and Try This... its a combination of the best parts of those 2 albums and she should easily reclaim her commercial sucess with the crackers that there are on this album!
NOW JUST MAKE SURE YOU RELEASE LEAVE ME ALONE (I'M LONELY)!!!!!!!!
