  1. 3X albums inside the top ten this week! (As per this weeks sales thread)! 03 9,288 Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism 08 6,006 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia 10 5,605 Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa Seems she definitely managed the biggest Glastonbury impact.

Both Cascada and Alice Dee Jay didn’t cross my mind here as I wrongly associate them as being solo females
  3. It’s pretty telling that almost everyone seems to be in agreement that her vocals which are her major strength just aren’t being showcased at all with the material so far. Hoping we get a rethink to the sound and almost kinda hope she/her team look at comments on socials and try and rebrand in some way. It’s such a shame that this has performed the way it has but in a way it could be good if it forces her and more importantly her team to carefully consider the sound / direction of her solo era.
  4. Pretty small crowd for SZA too considering she’s headlining. I think perhaps it was too early in her career to bill her as a headliner act. I think she’d have been better as part of the bill but not in a headline position. Other artists looked as though they had far bigger and more engaged crowds unless it’s just not translating across on screen.
  5. Poor Shania and her obvious sound issues (and Cyndi Lauper too). Really enjoyed the Dua and Coldplay headline sets though. Dua really owned it and she’s done such a great job at establishing herself as a performer but she sounded great and gave a hits stacked setlist. Coldplay again are just made for things like this and it was a really great set last night again with a great setlist and some great guests. I think Sugababes and Paloma Faith sounded great too. And I do want to hear Keane so I’ll check their set out. May catch some of SZAs at some point too! Quite shocked still that she bagged the headline slot but she’s rather unsurprisingly had very little coverage / build up across the press compared to Dua and Coldplay I suspect many thought Shania was the other headliner. Nice to see more females across the board this year though.
  6. I still don’t think this album is quite as drastic a sound change as she claimed (but this could be my critique coming from having Madonna and Gaga as my absolute favourites who undergo complete and utter whole re-brands). I do think the extended versions offer more and really elevate certain tracks from how they are on the main album. The album itself is pretty short and sweet but i actually think it’s pretty solid. Now I’ve had time to have the album digest it does kind of flourish over time and I think the key to her having such strong longevity is that a lot of her music seems to really take its time to really hit and then it becomes long lasting. I think initially because she’d kind of mentioned the sound change herself I (and I think others to be fair) properly expected something more drastic. I said from the start she’d have strong longevity and that her team would ensure it would be a success and Dua too if there’s one thing about her she’s a rarity in the streaming era in that she’s really managed to get full long lasting eras complete with re-releases. I wouldn’t be surprised if rather than DL4 happening if we get some sort of extension to this album.
  7. Re-enters the UK top 100 at #100! Big impact coming off the back of Glastonbury this week?
  8. Good news! Hopefully it stays in the top 100 this coming chart week. I think this next week *may* be its last week for a little while but I imagine their catalogue will get a lot more streams now as a result of the tour and I think there’s every chance it could end up entering as well. I’m still a bit gutted there wasn’t a re release of the physical or some vinyls as i think that could’ve really boosted its sales and maybe even sent it back into the top ten. I am pleased that their catalogue is being appreciated again though and that the tour has seemingly had a great impact.
  9. I may be going bold here because we’ve not heard the song but I’m gonna predict something here. Jade will actually release a solo album! Anyways I’m hyped to see what she brings. I have a real hunch Jade might be the one who manages to showcase some form of personality into her solo releases (and she definitely knows she was a strong following with LGBTQ community as well so I imagine that’ll get people on board too. But I do have high hopes here (she’s a local girl from my school too) so I’m kinda rooting for her in a sense as well but I do think Jade is kind of the most marketable and I think she’s likely going to be the most commercial too. We’ll soon see but I do think she’ll buck the trend.
  10. I can’t imagine it going down well if she did address it. I’d imagine she’s likely being advised not too maybes.
  11. I just kind of feel a bit “why” at this being scheduled for release at a time she’s on a family holiday. Here’s hoping it can at least do something but I’m not really expecting an album this year now.
  12. I was very torn on this one but I’ve went for Good Girl Gone Bad here. Its highs are very high but there is some filler on there amongst the album tracks. ANTI for me has gotten a lot better over the years after initially not necessarily getting it it’s a really well put together body of work where as Good Girl Gone Bad is a hits packed album but with ANTI too you can kind of feel her involvement a lot more.
  13. I always preferred Get Weird to this as a whole album and then LM5 was the opposite in the sense that I really didn’t rate the singles of that era at all but album tracks wise it’s brilliant. I kinda see why this become their biggest selling studio album in the UK though. It was a well thought out and planned era and they did kind of seem everywhere as well at that point (in the UK at least).
  14. Hey all and happy weekend! Round 5 is now open!! And we have just four albums left to choose from now. Round 4 seen another UK chart topper exit the survivor as Talk that Talk left with 7/15 votes. Talk that Talk is home to arguably Rihanna’s signature track in We Found Love and was released right at the peak of her career (if we go by her UK chart run). Talk that Talk was released in 2011 and followed on from the gigantic Loud to give her yet another major era. Its UK sales stand at over 1million so a huge success for her. I personally think it left the game at the right time (i actually prefer Unapologetic to this). I think there’s some great tracks on there but also some “meh” tracks for me and I think the whole era was quite rushed (which I can kind of see in a sense as her star power was so huge then they’d obviously want another album out there for the Q4 market. A loud reissue I think may have initially been the plan but there’s nothing on here that really fits on Loud so I sense why a whole new era was planned. We also got a whole new image again complete with another hair transformation and a revamp to her style to fit the era. Four albums remain! Again it’s a least favourite vote! Results so far 8th Place: Round 1: Music of The Sun (15/21 votes) 7th Place: Round 2: A Girl Like Me (12/19 votes) 6th Place: Round 3: Unapologetic (8/17 votes) 5th Place: Round 4 Talk that Talk (7/15 votes)
  15. The OCC posted this a few days ago. This looked like the best place to place it as it’s related to the UK charts. Some new figures here. @1803380970571063364
  16. I’m really intrigued to see how this comeback goes. Twitter (X) are always pretty vocal upon female releases and since Katy is like a global household name the leaks / story have been getting huge attention but are the general public here for it that’s the thing. On the other hand the average person won’t necessarily know who Dr Luke is or be against Katy for working with him. People who follow the charts will know who he is and the whole story of that but your everyday person won’t (it’s not like say the R Kelly stories what ended up being documented on a docu series or the Diddy stories). I personally feel a bit iffy about it and I do think her backlash will be bigger than some of the newer artists who’ve worked with him will get but I really feel like with Katy her last albums did less well because of the music itself. I just don’t feel she successfully adapted well with streaming (she tried a new sound / image and it come back to bite her) and Smile was just a bit dated and hype had gone by the time we got the album had that dropped a year earlier it may have done slightly better but probably not much so. I have a hunch that Katy could become a legacy act these days though. Substantial fanbase who’ll be willing to see her tour but I don’t know if she’s able to be a huge main pop girl again. I guess we’ll soon see but I dont necessarily know if outside her stan fanbase if the hype / interest is actually there.
  17. Again I just find this so below what she’s capable of. She’s so strong vocally and this just does absolutely nothing to really show this off nor does it offer (anything). Jade to be the one to break the subpar solo LM releases? I kind of now see why they were a group and solo acts based on the solo outputs from the three we’ve heard though. There’s something lacking from all of their releases as a solo act as of yet.
  18. London *may* see some sort of increase. We’ve had some busy weeks too since it’s recharted but it has been nice to see it back and I presume they’re easily on course for their best streaming year to date?
  19. Really expecting her to kind of fully become gigantic now. It’s slowly but surely been a case of her being able to grow her fanbase and word of mouth etc get people aware of her but the last few weeks or so there’s been a real huge surge in interest / people discovering her music / who she is. It’s been said a lot online and I’d never use this term lightly as she’s my all time number one but in some ways I kind of feel very early Gaga about her. It’s about time we’ve seen someone in pop act how they’re acting too.
  20. I don’t think Adele ever really played the chart game though. Her success was crazy level but she never seemed to push hard or care about the charts the way Taylor does (or like Ed does). 30 for example could’ve been a lot bigger had she really went for it. But with Adele she also took significant gaps between her releases and with Taylor because of the eras tour and her re-recordings she’s been prominently releasing with no gaps since 2019 now. Taylor’s an extremely smart business woman who’s very clued up about that side of things. I don’t necessarily think her intent is to sabotage others though and it’s more she has her own goals she wants to achieve and she manages it and then some.
  21. Her team are probably more likely the people behind these last minute new additions to gain the extra week at number one than Taylor herself. It likely looks as though it’s a female artists issue because there hasn’t really been major male albums as of late the big artists releasing have just so happened to be female but I still think this week would’ve seen a UK push for the number one had Charli went onto release or not. I don’t necessarily like the different editions of bonus tracks etc though. I wish she’d just released the 31 track edition from the off and if she wanted bundles just have it where the artwork is different but what’s on the album is the same (kinda like what Ariana did with eternal sunshine). I don’t think she’s threatened though. She’s on another lane to any other artist on the planet at the minute and she’s shown her support for newer artists in the business many times as well as often praising some of her peers too just in the last week she was vocal in supporting Gaga for example after she experienced some bad comments. I don’t necessarily know if things will change though because with Taylor the demand really is there for all these editions (and at some point surely the entire 31 track edition will make it to physicals).
  22. #93 in UK this week but it’s now charted for 300 weeks inside the UK Top 100! Big milestone. Another streaming party at some point to celebrate? :cheer:
  23. Keeping this open across weekend to get some more votes on there.

@1800525482292834390 A slight update on how the album is looking! I’m so intrigued at the direction of what this will be (and just how much it’s continually changed over the years).
  25. Sabrina’s determination has to be admired here. The songs are of course great too but she’s really worked hard for years now so to see her really get her big breakthrough era is nice to see. I wonder if her back catalogues spiked up in streams as a result, I imagine it has? But this upcoming album of hers should easily give her some success on that chart too.
