  1. My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived are the ones that are grabbing me more and more now. I’m going to invest more in the second part of the album. The Black Dog is still a stand out on that one but I’m another How Did It End fan  I can comfortably say this will be one of my favourite Taylor eras and one that I’ll go back to a lot. I would love the anthology part to get a physical CD release. I imagine it will at some point but this really is very strong.
  2. I personally have grown to like Taylor a lot more since folklore dropped and the reissues happened. I was a lot more casual towards her until that point but now with the re-releases of earlier work I’ve discovered how great those albums actually were whilst appreciating the newer work. From listening to her albums I can see her appeal she’s capable of being a songwriting genius. I definitely prefer when she leans into the story / characters esque kind of writing and when she steps away from the pure pop sound but I can see why she has this appeal. In some ways I think she can quite underrated in the vocal stakes but it’s a different type of vocal. The reason people love acts like Celine and why Whitney had mass appeal for example were purely the voice but they didn’t write their material where as people feel connected to Taylor because she’s the master of her own work. I do think a lot of people would be surprised if they delved into her catalogue at just how versatile she actually is. She’s pretty much mastered Country, Pop and Alt / Folk with them all sounding like a real fit for her. At the point of streaming era I don’t know if overexposure is as bad as in the sales era but right now I’m sure we can safely there’ll not be another act pulling in these figures for at least say a decade.
  3. I think she’ll stick around for a while as she usually does regardless of the debut. The label may try and go for the UK #1 though funnily enough she’s never debuted at her peak position on the albums chart yet both “Dua Lipa” and “Future Nostalgia” climbed to their peaks so we’ll see what happens here. Have there been any hints yet as to what pre orders could look like?
  4. I actually really like this it’s getting between on each listen and I think Post Malone really adds to the track too his involvement kind of grows on the repeated listens. 4th number one incoming here in UK. It’s funny to think pre Midnights release she had just the one number one single and now she’s racking them up in pretty quick succession B-) likely to be her third year in a row with a UK number one single.

I said this before but I could see it potentially missing the top 40 the way the latest album from Emeli did. I suppose at best she could perform how the last Rita Ora album did (top 10 debut then big drop the next week). It’s hard to call if there is a fanbase out there willing to purchase it in week one but we’ve not as of yet seen it this era with the singles. The main issue I think is that unless you actively followed the charts you’d have no idea that an album from her was actually on the way there doesn’t seem to have have been any form of anything to let us know. With Dua for example another British female she’s been active in promotion in that you’re aware she’s in a new era and an album is on the way. With Jess I don’t think many people are actually aware of the new music and those who are don’t seem to be invested.
  6. Maybe some sort of special vinyl release would do it? I think if we do get a whole new album from her it might repeak or a new tour but I’d say both of those are off the cards for now. It must do pretty well though she’s gaining pretty good streams across her whole discography in general but I think the book has boosted it even more.
  7. I’ve also went with A Girl Like Me on this round. Keep voting will close this ahead of next weekend for round 3.
  8. Second part is also very strong from hearing this today. Part of me wishes the release was kind of split so I could fully absorb each half but I’ll go back to both across the week. Definitely impressed as a whole with this though it’s almost like the trilogy of folklore / evermore. I found the Black Dog to be stunning, Cassandra the mad woman of this album (i definitely hear mad woman production wise on that) and there was something about How Did It End that I loved. I think I’ll go back to this (likely maybe in two separate parts for now) but there’s a lot I like on this. I definitely don’t hear much of Midnights on this on the whole.
  9. There’s some truth in that. I feel like potentially money as well may play some part. All LM girls were talented but none of their solo releases so far has captured that it’s all been very beige and safe. Cheryl for example played the solo launch from a female group perfect (although in a different era). I do feel like Jade may do slightly better as I think she’ll be more marketable and might be more of a popstar but we’ll see! I think Perrie is capable of far far more than this song though it’s not even that Ed wrote it it’s just not strong enough for a full on launch as the launch single is arguably the most vital one of if it’s going to work out.
  10. So for me I don’t really get much of a Midnights vibe probably more in the production side of things but lyrically I get folklore / evermore. I’ve only heard the standard 16 tracks so far so I’ll be going in on part 2 tomorrow but the standard 16 tracks from the album I think are all pretty strong. On first listen I definitely think this is more my bag than what Midnights was but I’m quite impressed had just the standard 16 been the entire album I’d be happy with this. Maybe Midnights on the whole was more varied but this is definitely more cohesive and structured better as a body of work. Intrigued at what the next 15 tracks will bring but yeah this was a nice listen. So far I’m feeling Florida!!! (VERY happy Florence really shone on that song too and was given her moment but it worked a lot more than I’d have initially imagined) and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me is a career highlight.
  11. Hoping the full 31 track edition gets a CD release at some point. I think we might get a Midnights esque opening possibly for week one. I’m now gonna say this could well be her biggest UK opening yet. Plus the longevity as per all her albums will be insane can see it returning back to number one when she has her shows here and I’d be surprised if anything challenged it for the year end number one. Intrigued / excited to see the numbers on Monday and the streaming figure numbers tomorrow. Likely would’ve been huge anyways but now there’s 15 more tracks.
  12. I’d imagine this is a case of The Fame Monster being classed as a deluxe of The Fame here? It’s still so impressive though. I wonder if at any point the UK would get a The Fame Monster only CD/Vinyl (although if that did happen and The Fame and Fame Monster were seperated Gaga may lose that regular top 100 appearance she gets with The Fame).
  13. Hey all! Round two is now open. Round 1 seen 21 votes! Thank you to all who voted. 15/21 votes went to Music of The Sun which is now eliminated. Not a big shock to see her Debut go first I must admit. It’s probably her least known era on the whole and although it showed potential she’s come on leaps and bounds since then. Get voting again! Again vote for the least favourite album remaining. Results 8th: Music Of The Sun (Eliminated Round 1: 15/21 votes).
  14. Dua tends to be a long running smash kind of act as opposed to a big first week. I actually think Duas track will peak on album release week. But she always does well overall she’s pretty consistent in getting smashes.
  15. Are we expecting any big Amy Winehouse increases? The biopic Back to Black is released today isn’t it? I’ve seen mixed reviews but can imagine it perhaps giving her some boosts with the attention it’ll get especially as she was taken so young her back catalogue is relatively small so the impact might be more significant.
  16. Big respect to Paul for doing what he did and not caving in. Imagine asking Lord Sugar for half of his business for a fraction of the price  Phil winning would feel hilarious given he’s lost all but one task but he is pretty likeable and I genuinely don’t think he was ever solely responsible for the failure he was just pretty unlucky. I do think lord Sugar must see something in either Phil or his business though else he’d have been gone but it makes you think the likes of Raj for example just weren’t for him given she went the second she was on the losing team. Rachel has been strong too. Interesting final to call as he’s recently invested in fitness based business with Marnie and there’s been a few bakery / desert based winners but not necessarily the pie market?
  17. This is very 00s sounding which to me isn’t a bad thing but i don’t necessarily know if it’ll be a big hit. She does sound strong though. I can definitely hear the Kelly comparisons as well.
  18. I definitely get Kylie vibes from this not just the video what’s kind of All the Lovers meets Slow but in general this is Kylie coded. The song itself is kind of not necessarily bad but album track esque. This could’ve easily been on Future Nostalgia I don’t think this is necessarily a giant departure from that era.
  19. Aside from eternal sunshine what’s recently released is My Everything her album with the most weekly sales now or is that thank u, next? I do hope that it’lll get to 600K at some point this year. Whilst her sales may look “low” compared to other pop icons I think they’re pretty strong and consistent for the streaming era. Like these days 600K copies of an album is what 1m+ was like in the 00s decade. Hopefully by year end she’ll have three albums on 500K+. What’s interesting re Ariana is that I imagine her catalogue in general streams well but it’s all split across different eras where as other artists have that one big peak era (like say Teenage Dream).
  20. Oh Godga! Nothing and nobody has the genuine impact on me that she does. I’m so ready for this. I like that the trailer doesn’t really give an awful lot away but says enough as well. I’m actually more invested than I imagined (I’ll admit these kinds of movies aren’t usually what I’d go and see and Gaga is the draw for me) but this actually looks pretty slick and big budget. I quite like that we didn’t hear her sing in the trailer too but I’m definitely here for the musical moments throughout the show.
  21. Last push on this one now before closing! Will be opening the next round before the weekend B-)

I don’t feel too optimistic of who the cast cull will be impacting if that’s the first name we’re losing. I have a real hunch that it’s the characters who *need* axing who are gonna end up staying. I just really hope that the character mentioned above gets a real exit and isn’t just mentioned as having moved on as part of the time jump. They’ve put a insta post up and in there it’s revealed that but yeah this is really an awful decision.

This is charting as a separate entry in the midweeks will it likely be combined with the original by Friday?
  24. Keep voting people :) Let’s see if we can push for some more votes across weekend. I’ll look at closing this after the weekend maybes Tuesday evening and open the second round then
  25. I’ve began a new and updated Rihanna albums survivor over on the Rihanna artist forum.
