yes, and? • 1st single
I was out on Friday as the charts were announced so I didn’t quite know just how close it was! Strong sales for her and a fourth #2 here in the UK now as well! I think it’ll have a pretty strong chart run should remain top 5 this week and I think ACR will be avoided due to the release date of the eternal sunshine album as well. Stick Season just to mammoth a hit to overcome but a strong debut.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Pleasantly surprised to see my 30 pointer in tact still although I predict they may be next out! Still feeling Michael’s gonna win this again. JTs an essential male act for me which may be unpopular on this forum now. Pretty much his first four albums I could hear as a whole (especially the first three) Man of the woods has its moments too. I’m definitely here for a new era from him now but could not at all call how it would do but I suspect he’ll do better than people would imagine regardless of the past stories resurfacing. Prince has some absolute classics and was such a huge talent so very happy to see him still appear highly. Calvin is probably my favourite DJ esque act although I’m not sure if I’m biased as he’s worked with a lot of people I like so it’s more his features I’m fond of but can’t deny his writing and production talents.

Rank Ariana's lead singles
This was slightly tough in the middle section. I’m in agreement that overall her leads aren’t necessarily her at her absolute best (nor are her #1s here in the UK but that’s another matter  ) I think I’d probably say 1. no tears left to cry (stunning  ) 2. positions (This has held up really well and I prefer it now to in 2020) 3. Dangerous Woman (Underrated in terms of peak but feels like one of her most defining tracks now. The production style on this as a lead was rather bold as well) 4. thank u, next (A career definer for sure. I was another one who didn’t immediately click with this but I like it for what it is and the video is a moment) 5. The Way (I’ve always really liked it this!) The perfect launch for her. Robbed of a UK top 40 peak :( 6. Problem (I’m now beginning to enjoy this a lot more after finding it was overplayed in 2014. She’s topped it several times but it feels special that in the UK it’s her big breakthrough). 7. yes, and? (I don’t necessarily dislike it but I didn’t instantly enjoy it as much as others have on here and I probably wouldn’t have replayed it as much as I have across the last week had it been by anyone else. I’m hopeful there’ll be stronger tracks on the album.

Predict: What Will the Neighbours Say? rerelease in UK chart
Id like to be proven wrong and it be higher but I think im gonna go with somewhere around the 21 - 30 mark. There’s not too much to go off really other than how Sound of The Underground did but this was a bigger album the first time around and since that release we’ve also had the tour confirmed so I do think it will fare slightly more and perhaps they may even plug it a bit more too given how close Sound of The Underground’s release was to sneaking back in the top 40. I think Team Girls Aloud may try and ensure that this goes there.

7 rings • 2nd Single
This still feels really recent to me! Doesn’t at all feel like five years since this! I’ve always liked it for what it is. It doesn’t necessarily have a huge vocal moment what I tend to love from her but it’s joyous, fun, not necessarily to be taken seriously and I think a song like this probably really helped at her at the time of release when she was experiencing what she was experiencing. I probably prefer a chunk of the album tracks of the thank u, next era to the singles though but can definitely also see why she chose those tracks to be the singles (and they all become UK #1s so she chose well).

eternal sunshine • 7th album
I like this cover. Really hope this can serve as the streaming cover over the close up image from the yes, and single which I think she’d confirmed *was* one the covers. I quite like the album name and I’m here for a new studio album now it’s passed the three year mark since Positions. I didn’t quite expect to have it confirmed so soon but the title was definitely floating around for a week or so now. Not long at all to go as well! Guessing we’ll probably get single 2 on either Feb 23 or March 1st possibly?

'The Fame' ● Album Discussion Thread
As far as the UK goes I presume this will always be combined right? I think at the time of release you weren’t able to actually buy just The Fame Monster and the release of TFM in the UK was always just seen as the deluxe edition of The Fame. It would feel so off now if The Fame Monster was to chart to its own accord but I don’t think there’s a way it could now right? They are separate eras but it would’ve intrigued me to see what sales would be like had they been split as I’m pretty sure The Fame Monster would’ve also went to #1 here in the UK. Looking at its weeks at #1 the original The Fame album spent four weeks in a row at #1 (12 weeks after its release but this tied in with Poker Faces time at #1 as at one point she achieved the chart double) then after the re release the Fame Monster had three non consecutive weeks at the top in early 2010. I imagine she’d have charted consistently with both albums through to around 2011 time. The sales being combined though means The Fame is amongst the very highest sellers in UK history in terms of sales and it’s racking up its chart weeks now too

Radical Optimism • Third Album
11 tracks! Future Nostalgia (before reissues) was 11 tracks too and the addition of tracks in a way made the albums theme fade away and felt more like a “let’s get streaming numbers even higher” so hopefully this project can just be a album without re-releases (although that could be unlikely). I’m definitely ready now for a new Dua album though and this direction I think will really suit her. It’s setting her main pop girl status right up but I think she’s grown a lot in confidence and she’s pretty smart in terms to her choices thus far.

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Ed was so overexposed for a time and he’s not always a “hit” for me but I do genuinely really enjoy some of his music too and I really felt like the Subtract album from him showcased him at his best. Hes better for me when he’s not in obsessed with chasing chart hits mode.

The Masked Singer • Series 5
Maypole is absolutely Melody Thornton! I’m sold on this now it’s *so her*. When I think back as well that P!nk song they did on the first performance actually mentions Whitney Houston in the song and they played her role in the Bodyguard. I can say Simon Webbe off Blue fame is Cricket as well but I’d said this the last time as well. Dippy Egg to me I got Will Mellor vibes from their second performance but that name didn’t come to mind until they sang Shotgun but listen to that and you can definitely hear him. Big Foot I think I’ll go with Alex Brooker but I wouldn’t say I’m certain. Definitely did not think the Ballas was Rat though!

I can imagine yourself being similar too   Both of us sharing the same #1 in Gaga and #2 in Madonna!

Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded // 3rd album re-release
#67 in the UK this week! (Up 1 place). 205 weeks now on the top 100!

Leona Lewis
I’ve always thought Glassheart (the song) is the biggest misfire of her career. If they’d led Glassheart the album with that I think it might’ve even challenged for #1 but at the least it would’ve been a decent running top 3 hit with potentially better running album sales too. Release Glassheart as the lead with Fireflies as the follow up (the typical Leona ballad) it would’ve been a great campaign. Echo is probably my favourite from her as a whole album I think they made a mistake just ending the era after I Got You - Outta My Head could’ve worked as a spring / summer hit and maybe release Can’t Breathe too. The issues with Echo and Glassheart were down to the abrupt nature of the campaigns they could’ve both done a lot better.

yes, and? • 1st single
With me I think this will be more of a like than a love. Because it’s Ariana I’ve listened to it more than I would usually by my first impression but if this by a female artist not on my stan / faves list I’d probably not go out my way to listen. It’s still early days of course but yeah. But as I said earlier in the thread her lead singles besides no tears aren’t necessarily career highlights or even highlights of their respective albums it’s always with the follow up singles and album tracks where she really delivers for me. It’s nice to have her back though.

yes, and? • 1st single
I was expecting something different. I’m a Vogue lover personally so when I seen this was interpolated earlier on in the week I perhaps had too high expectations. It isn’t as in your face as Vogue I can hear it slightly in the production but it’s more Janet Jackson / Beyonce inspired to me than it is Madonna. I think the big vocal moment is what I’m missing though. She does sound great and it’s produced well but I may need repeat listens and perhaps a music video watch to go from the like to love camp. I think it may just be that it’s subtle and it might be a grower rather than an instant love like no tears left to cry was for example. It’s just lacking of a big moment to my ears though. What I will say is that this at least is a sonic departure. It wouldn’t have fitted into the positions album and the production style is definitely different from sweetener and thank u, next as well. Pretty much all the time with Ariana though her album tracks and follow up singles are more catered towards me than what her leads are. Sweetener is the only era where the singles are genuinely my favourites.

Lil Nas X mentions Gaga in post, saying "idgaf what she did"
What a terribly worded comment. He’s clearly fans of both of them but that’s worded terribly. The difference between Gaga especially and him is does he have the versatility and talent to completely switch and reinvent. Imagine him having a Sound of Music at the Oscar’s style tribute performance up his sleeve when the haters start to write him off. Gaga may well have controversy but above all else has major vocal talent and is a rounded musician to boot when Lil Nas X drops the controversy is there as much to rely on?

Buzzjack's Favourite Male Solo Act
Really enjoying this so far! Some shocks here and there. I did think Justin Bieber may have been higher but he’s one of those whose low points are absolutely terrible amongst releasing some genuinely brilliant stuff. Intrigued as to how the top 20 will play out. I expect Harry Styles will be quite a climber and maybe a top ten entrant on this one. Some big misses from me in my list I really would’ve voted for Frank Ocean! I always find with these lists it’s always hard to really do it accurately as my mind just goes blank it’s when the results kick in and you realise just how many you actually like.

'Just Dance' (feat. Colby O'Donis) ● 1st Single Thread
My life genuinely changed from this point forward  Even as a child I’d loved the charts and specific artists but it was nothing compared to what was about to come my way.

New Gaga music in 2024?
Any new music from Gaga is a plus for me! I’m thinking we might something like a single in February followed by another single April/May time what coincides with project release. but in terms of a tour I think that may be 2025. An ideal scenario for me would be if she somehow managed to tie in this release with a BRITS performance as its live debut. It’ll be 14 years since she last performed here so we really are overdue a BRITs moment from her. That’s more a dream though but we really are well overdue a BRITS moment.

Ariana Grande - UK Chart Runs, Sales & Discussion
That may be it Jade! I guess Bang Bang we can guess is somewhere between 3-5. Santa Tell Me at some point may manage #1 on her best sellers list do we think as it has 5 weeks of managing pretty big sales. Although the other tracks may get streams all year around. I do like it but I wouldn’t rate it as high as her signature songs but it’s the power of those December streams isn’t it. EDIT: Just also noticed that Don’t Call Me Angel isn’t showing on there either but that’s another one where she has a “Grande” credit. They show up under her chart history page though.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Arianas CDs and downloads may help her out. I can actually see Ariana debuting at #1 but then being replaced again by Stick Season the following week whilst still maintaining a pretty solid top 5/10 run.

New Gaga music in 2024?
I think I’d welcome an album in that direction from her. She definitely has the vocals for it and the live performances would be incredible too. I think Born This Way had elements to that sound but it wasn’t explored across a whole album but I do think I’d really be here for it and I think it might again help her to gain a new fanbase.

Ariana Grande - UK Chart Runs, Sales & Discussion
A new OCC article. My Everything quite a bit ahead now (I remembered her top 3 all being super close). Not much at all between Dangerous Woman and thank u, next though. Hoping we see a figure for the other albums at some point. I thought we may have with Yours Truly re-entering last year. @1744740353293549705

eternal sunshine • 7th album
That cover reminds me of Kylies Kiss Me Once (think it’s the red lips). I’d like to see the other covers but it is quite different from her other artworks (not upside down and in colour too. Don’t really get much of an idea on the music based off just the cover but I’m feeling this may well be more of a pop oreintated era. So ready for this era to begin on Friday though  Also not that is that important as new music and era is the biggest plus over numbers but having multiple artworks may really help her physical sales out! I think Dangerous Woman has more than one artwork but her other albums have just the one right (well thank u, nexts CD has a black border as opposed to the pink one on streaming sites).
