  1. PopBase and Team of Rihanna are stating that the Smurfs Soundtrack single titled “Friend of Mine” is coming this Friday. Also now confirmed by Rihanna herself via her Instagram page!
  2. Girls Alouds record of top ten singles (from Debut single) should stay intact too! It’d be mighty impressive to see an as yet undiscovered artist get their first 21 tracks to all chart at #10 or above! The consecutive top ten tracks in a row record too (Madonna has this right?) should also remain for some time.
  3. Whilst never may feel like a stretch, I can’t see any other female artist matching Madonna’s record for UK #1 singles amongst female solo acts anytime soon! Rather scarily, it may also be quite sometime before another British female equals or beats Jess Glynnes total of 7 UK number ones!
  4. Round 3 is now open of the Rihanna US Number One Singles Survivor! 10 tracks now remain and again I’m looking for your two least favourites in this round! Round 2 seen us lose another two collaborations. S&Ms Britney Remix and Live your Life had the most votes. Like Round 1 I actually chose those two as my least favourites so a strong start so far for me! Get your votes in and I’ll close this round when there’s been enough votes. Results so far: 13th place: Work 5/12 Votes - Round 1 13th place: The Monster 5/12 votes. - Round 1 12th place: S&M Remix - 9/11 Votes - Round 2 11th place: Live Your Life - 6/11 Votes - Round 2
  5. Do you think there’s truth in the rumours of them holding off until the promotional shows are done and we’re getting the single after that? We have Singapore still to come, but I’m thinking the shows are an indicator of what songs get a great reaction from the crowd. Hopefully it’s this or Vanish that’s chosen, though!
  6. Genuinely as long as i remember but I think 2003 possibly was like my earliest real memories! Definitely recall the 2003 Christmas chart being a memory for me as I was pretty sad at the time Sugababes settled for #10 with Too Lost In You and I remember following the charts when Kylie was at #1 with Slow too as I was obsessed with that video as a child. Even now I go to check the charts as soon as it nears 6pm but I don’t get as much a chance to listen to the charts live with having an office job. I make exceptions during weeks I have strong feeling a favourite of mine is going to do well though 😆 Back in the sales only era I didn’t follow the midweeks closely until around 2009 (just in time for Gaga). I think the first midweek chart I followed was when Saturdays had their first Flo Rida blocking from a number one. (Still miss sales only era so badly although New Music Friday is a change I like for the better!)
  7. Remember at the time of this release when a lot of us thought this would take away the shine of Rain on Me what was soon to drop! I’ve kinda always enjoyed this despite it getting a hard time on the forum. I’m sure that there was a rate of her UK top tens on here (pre eternal sunshine era) where it came dead last right 🫠
  8. I think the drop might look worse than it is like by units I think it’s probably really tight between #21 and #40! Last week as well it was #27 on the first update of the week and it ended up at #21 by the official chart so we could see an improvement as the week goes on. The chart run up to now isn’t too different from Chromaticas!
  9. Very torn on this one. I’m gonna purely just go for her solo “pop eras” first the add some commentary to the other ones. The Fame Monster - Both covers are just legendary and symbolise the era so well. They also kinda just feel iconic within pop culture. So early on in her career and she’s fighting for artwork like that. Iconic! Chromatica Striking! Gorgeous artwork. The boots! Her pose. It’s one of the best things about that era! Love the cover though would love to own it on a canvas or frame! I think it captures the era well too. I wonder how the artwork would’ve looked had it been 2022 however as the aesthetic them changed to the tour! ARTPOP - Ok so it’s kinda chaotic but it represents the album really well and it’s striking and very her! It’s OTT, but it works. The only thing I’d personally change would just be to not have her name on the cover but besides that i love it. The Fame - It’s very striking for a debut album and kinda makes you intrigued. I think I know what kind of album your in for by the cover but for me I think there’s artwork in the booklet that I prefer. I think the back cover of this kinda looks even better and there’s another image in the booklet I love but it’s very Kylie fever esque. I can see why the cover was chosen though as it does stand out and I think this is very recognised. Joanne - Love the photo used! Probably the least album cover esque of all the images but for this album I guess it works. The pink hat is kinda recognised now in pop culture too. Love the minimalist look she has too. She looks gorgeous on this cover. It’s not necessarily screaming album cover though but that’s not really a critique more just her other covers are all very she means business esque and this one stands out from looking very conventionally pleasing (if this makes any sense) MAYHEM - I prefer some of the other covers to the main one used on steaming sites etc! It’s not necessarily bad but ever since I realised it was a photo of a photo and the glass shard was real and then the you can see a corner of another photo on the cover… However musically speaking my favourite project from her in a long, long while! Born This Way - Her best era music wise but the artwork! There’s gorgeous imagery for that era it’s purely just the album cover doesn’t showcase it on either edition. I prefer the standard to the deluxe though bizarrely! The motorbike to be the main cover for both editions on streaming sites please x
  10. Last minute voters for this? I’m closing this tomorrow evening.
  11. Those certifications keep on coming!
  12. Top 40 again in UK this week!! #37 ❣️
  13. UK #21 this week a rise from last week and up from where it was in the mids too! MAYHEM now spending more weeks top 40 than Joanne as it gets a 9th week!
  14. This could be her next billion streamer then?! What a comeback the tracks had recently though. Perhaps an ahead of its time track? I’d love it if Born This Way continued to get rising smashes on streaming so it can chart again officially in the UK!
  15. Oh this is interesting! One that come to mind for me was the Ozzy / Kelly Osbourne - Changes 😆 I’m a fan of her as well but Rita’s How We Do is kinda just there and she has way better tracks what deserved #1 status. Roll Deeps Green Light as well is another track I’d say fits this! Girls Aloud and Sugababes are both iconic but their joint #1 was a complete non event (although it was for charity) All this is subjective though I’m avoiding using songs I actively dislike here as at least they make me feel… something!
  16. I think we just need a new single push that’s all we need! It’s a shame the Spotify boost isn’t really doing much UK wise for MAYHEM (The Fame is rising however!) but saying that unless it was to be televised the general person in the UK wouldnt know about the historic Brazil show. But yeah it’s probably so close to being top 20 as well but we’ll see what’s to come for the era. The UK tour is this year at least so if nothing else we should get a boost then. I think once Singapore shows are done we may get a new single / video. I think she’s in performance mode at the moment and is getting the promotional shows done and dusted first. The thing is now globally speaking Abracadabra is on the rise again so there may be some life in that yet.
  17. Giving this a little bump! Keep voting if you’ve not already 😁
  18. Loved her look last night! She looked so happy! And now she’s soon to be a mother of three congratulations to her. She was also asked about R9 on the red carpet but didn’t give much if anything away about that 😅
  19. Career defining SMASH!! I really think this new Poker Face performance makes the song all more iconic. Genius to Incorporate it into a chess game and the choreography with it too!! Would love this to re-enter again in the UK! (Although At the same Time I need a new MAYHEM hit to chart!)
  20. Brazil impact!! I don’t know how much impact that’ll translate to the UK chart but it’s #2 on Apple UKs album chart (Wretch 32 is the only album ahead). The last time I checked at some point last week I believe it was at #5 so that’s something! But the Apple chart is an odd one as there’s many albums what appear high on there what never chart officially then vice versa albums what eternally chart don’t appear.
  21. Actually feel emotional watching this show! It’s amazing to see her still create major milestones and new peaks into her career. I remember the Super Bowl (there’s a clip from five foot two going viral on X) and her feeling like that was her peak and since then she’s still achieving such crazy achievements. So ready to see her in Amsterdam! Whether or not it’s the same show or completely different I’m ready to see mother!
  22. I’d like to correct you here and say that I’m not talking about you. The full post was about my own thoughts nobody else’s.
  23. I gave this album a full listen today (the entire 31 track edition) and it was pretty consistent and strong all the way through! Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me is still a major highlight for me! But The Black Dog sounded fantastic today as did Cassandra! The Anthology tracks kinda added to ye experience and I don’t necessarily feel it dragged for a long album! I think this felt more like a follow up to evermore than Midnights in a sense but I think this sound suits her and I’d definitely rate it higher than Midnights and Lover in sound / quality.
  24. The “fall” of Katy is always really interesting to analyse and look at, especially from someone who stans the charts. I feel like the Dr Luke thing is still not really necessarily common knowledge; unless you’re on Stan Twitter or a chart forum site like Buzzjack, you wouldn’t necessarily know it as common knowledge. It’s not like the recent trip to space, which was on pretty much every panel show and newspaper globally. Regarding the working with Dr Luke, it was a bad move, and someone like Katy, who's a household name and still a talking point, just wouldn’t get away with it the way newer female artists would. Having said that, could that have been overseen if the material of 143 was actually good? Before 143 dropped, it did actually seem like there was goodwill towards her, and it did seem like there was genuine hype for new music too what soon just faded when Dr Luke was announced to be involved with the project. I won’t comment too much on her intellectual level here but surely she knew there’d be backlash from that and people would be asking questions and wanting answers. It’s frustrating at times because it does feel like anytime there’s an ounce of goodwill towards her or when she seems to be in a good position she does something what derails it all. I suppose you could blame streaming support; it’s hard to judge just how well the 143 era could’ve done, for example, had she had stronger playlist support. However, with Katy, I think her actual music itself has severely gone downhill. All artists have to fight to remain eternally relevant, and we’ve seen it’s tougher for females, especially in pop music! Katy debuted and also peaked at a time when her peers were also very strong, and we’ve seen the likes of Taylor, Beyoncé (who I’m not the biggest fan of at all, but I can’t deny she’s a performance powerhouse and very versatile), and Gaga all show far more artistry and versatility to get to where they want to be. Gaga is an interesting one because as Katy was thriving with Prism back in 2013 Gaga was in a position with the public that wasn’t the best but she was able to adapt to her musical talents and showcase multiple different strokes to her what made her able to comeback successfully. With Katy, she isn’t talented in the vocal stakes to strip things back and show her raw talent, and her performance skills are questionable too (in short, she just didn’t really reinvent or show a different side to her successfully to come back). She’ll always be a relevant touring act but more in the legacy act lane. I genuinely don’t see her as a chart star anymore. I think Smile was the decider to that, but after Witness, Smile and now 143 went the way they did. No matter who she works with, I just don’t think she can score another solo hit again!
  25. Oops missed the first rounds of those but I love that ZAYN and Taylor track! Just Hold On I’d say is the weakest for me here! But I like every other track here.
