  1. You know, it's alright that Russ  I listened to a few of them. I'm entering a bit of a random Harajuku phase at the moment and things like this are beginning to sound really quite attractive to me!!! :o B) Some kind of Beatles-esque experimental Japanese indie sound? I could imagine playing in it the background while I'm working. Do you know any more slightly random Japanese/Harajuku style stuff . . . I know you're a fountain of knowledge :) (and a fountain that taps straight into my bank account at that :( )
  2. I love The Polyphonic Spree . . . I might give it a listen for them.
  3. Socio-economic factors are an important point - poverty, lack of education, lack of opportunity, social exclusion etc . . . . . . but me being me I do also tend to lean towards emotional/psychological factors . . . Society has it's benefits for those who can benefit from them, taxes etc go towards a framework that generally supports society members - schools, health, law enforcement, homes etc, things that make people feel safe enough in a society, and supported enough as an individual, to want to contribute constructively to it . . . Now if an individual does not feel safe and supported in a society, they become disengaged from it. This can start early on from childhood experiences of families, and others. There are a lot of damaged people in this country, creating more damaged people, and the vicious circle goes on and on. . . People can live in extreme conditions - very little food, poor housing, disease, little education, and still be productive, constructive members of their society because survival instinct tells them this is still the best way to be as safe and supported as possible in their circumstances. When individuals feel none of the benefits, and feel emotionally/pyschologically unsafe on a deep level . . . they may have felt ignored, unheard, undervalued or experienced even worse from a young age, it is no wonder that they would want to 'attack' the society around them at large . . . anything from grafitti or dropping litter to being rude, socially antagonistic or aggressive or to the more extreme ends of violence or crime. Well . . . that's my own theory any way!

Yours was the original though Russ. But if you are changing it then I am prepared to be astounded (again) :)

Oh I see, it was the hyphen that did it . . . otherwise no-one would be able to write p**** Cat Dolls. I was only trying to write 'pussyfooting'
  7. After all you've put me through . . . you'd think I'd despise you . . . but I want to say thank you . . . . . . because you made me that much stronger XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I doubt I could bring myself to buy The Sun even for a free film. I guess I could pay for the paper and just leave it on the counter and take the DVD  It might still scare the pants off me tho
  9. Today I wanted to check the name of the Cliff Richard film set in Birmingham, where they invent a new type of beefburger called a 'Brumburger'! Wikipedia's total entry was 'Brumburger > Birmingham, UK'

Could you do a bit of promo? In the Indie & Alternative Rock forum there is a poll thread on Baby Fratelli. Maybe if you posted something in that forum you could pull a few people over to have a go?

JK is direct and can be blunt, but he is trying to shock people out of their attitude and behaviour patterns, he's not necessarily going to do that by p****-footing around and being all nicey-nicey . . . and the show has a counsellor who JK brings in to play the softer role, and who steps in after the show if they've managed a bit of a break-through. I used to watch Trisha before she moved channels but don't watch it anymore, I thought she became a bit more 'americanised' like she was trying to be Oprah, and the production became too glossy - I used to think she was ok on ITV, she's been through a difficult time with depression and so she uses a lot of that personal experience in how she relates to people. As for Jerry, he's just the ringmaster to a freakshow and I wouldn't give it the time of day. * I can't believe this site starred out p**** in the perfectly reasonable context of the phrase p****-footing!*

Another re-make mistake. Why bother? Any tricks of the trade Hollywood could possibly thow at this won't go anywhere near touching the original. Hitcher scared the pants off me when I was a kid.

I used to love this! Jeez I'd forgotten all about it. Back when French and Saunders were funny as a double act . . . French, Saunders, Ullman and Wax were all at a really good stage in their careers when they made this imo. I might go and check this out. Your posts are gonna cost me a fortune at this rate Tigerboy! Grrrrrrr

    I've dropped out of the Top 40. I'll have to see if I can make a come-back with a killer re-mix :P
  19. I'm with you both there  (although I've bopped to Baby D in my time, it would never make it into an ULTIMATE top 20 dance list) oh, and harsh but hilarious Russ
  20. Deborah Gibson doesn't sound right! As a Deborah myself there does come a stage in every Deb's development where you have to move on from Debbie, especially with the whole 'Debbie Does Dallas' stigma . . . !!! Deborah (Debbie) Harry did it. But 'Deborah' Gibson???

I like his style, I think he's fair, he gets all sides of the story and tries to understand. I think it takes a lot of guts to challenge people in the way he does, and he isn't one-sided, he doesn't see one side as the perpetrator and another as the victim, he uses a more balanced reasoning and points out the issues on both sides. It takes a big person to stand up and be counted like that, especially with some of the t**ts that go on there - and yes, sometimes JK comes across like a bit of a t**t himself, but fair play to him. Much better than the 'oh, so you were a prostitute at 13 but now you've got a boob job and become a glamour model and turned your life around so go and skip off into the sunset with your slightly dodgy looking boyfriend' approach.
  22. "Coffee behemoth" Talk about stretching a brand . . . next stop trains, planes and broadband packages . . . "the 8.15 Starbucks Express to London Euston" . . . and at nearly 3 quid for a cup of coffee will they be retailing Alanis's next CD for £29.99? Grande Caramel Macchiatio with cream though . . . love Starbucks for the intense caffeine and sugar hit . . . it's an-upper-in-a-mug!
  23. CD Albums Gwen Stefani - Love, Angel, Music, Baby (I'm playing catch up because I love The Sweet Escape album so much) Kaiser Chiefs - Employment (requested by my ma for Mother's Day - she's just bought Yours Truly, Angry Mob) Ray Quinn - (for my ma - but also a sneaky copy for myself!!!) CD Singles Calvin Harris - Acceptable in the 80's   btw, Ray was 3 quid more in HMV than Virgin - thievin' rob dogs!
