Katy Perry "The One That Got Away" - where will it chart?
I voted top 10 but wouldn't be surprised to see it stick at #11 for at least one week and never climb higher. Great song, loved the acoustic she did and was astonished at the lack of pitchiness.

iTunes Album Chart: 2012
Wow, at Steps. Still astonished. Never would I have predicted that from 2001!

Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
Do you think that she sounds different there to how she did on the TOTP performance in 2000?

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
It should get released just for the innuendos alone. :P I can see the comparisons to Hey Mickey! it has the same beat. It is miles better than Love Game (although the lyrics are probably equally as controversial!). I suppose its asking too much to release it as a 7th single :(

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
Wow, you're so lucky seeing her so early in her tour! I'm going. November 22nd I think at Glasgow SECC. Can't wait! Gutted "Peacock" isn't getting released :( :( That's because he's against Noel. If he wasn't there those odds would be different. THIS Lana Del Rey to beat The Unwanted to #1 next week. Hopefully :)

First week X Factor single sales
I've got no desire to view RFYL as a failure. I prefer Matt to Joe but I'm just trying to be realistic. I agree that if Matt sells more than 53k of RFYL then that is a more successful first week than Ambitions. I also agree that total sales are more important, which gives Matt the edge given he is still in the iTunes top 10 at this point. And if RFYL in total sells 20% more than Ambitions did in total, then RFYL is more successful. If it didn't though, I'd deem it less successful. The scaled level is the right way to compare sales year-on-year.

Congrats

First week X Factor single sales
The significance is irrelevant though - the difference still exists (albeit the quantum is smaller).
-
Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
I agree - considering the 3 live vocals they have done this week, I would say they're all competent - only H and Lisa are a bit dodgy (H sounds as strained as he always did, and Lisa has a few pitch issues); Claire doesn't have any problem whatsoever, Faye is very, very good and Lee even sounds ok when he's mixed with the other.

First week X Factor single sales
How can you understand scaling if :- (a) we're comparing sales from 2006 vs 2011 when the volume of sales at a particular position are different in those quoted years but not if (b) we're comparing sales from 2010 vs 2011 when the volume of sales at a particular position are (again) different in those quoted years?!

Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
Have they confirmed that gooddelta? I sincerely hope that is confirmed as a definite for the tour, I've really enjoyed their live performances so far :) Got two tickets to AECC in Aberdeen, standing so plan on getting there super early and getting right down the front to bust some moves. Need to dust down the old VHS tapes to study the dance moves :o Btw if anyone on here would like a copy of the old VHS tapes I have I'm willing to put them on DVD and post them to you free of charge - I've got about 11 hours worth of footage from 1998-2001. :) PM me. :)

First week X Factor single sales
Vidcapper might be able to answer this better, but my understanding is that sales at the top end of the chart have actually increased more than the %'s quoted in the MW reports (i.e. total sales per week in 2011 vs. total sales from equivalent week in 2010), not the converse.

Artist Bashing Thread Part III
I actually liked Matt's voice on the show too. I wasn't really fussed who won because tbh I thought TreyC had the best voice by a country mile, and once she was gone it didn't really matter to me who won; I kinda liked Cher because she was bringing something different and current to the show but she was incredibly annoying and over-confident/arrogant. That's what annoys me about Matt right now. He's become so arrogant and egotistical, trying to distance himself from the show somewhat and somehow return to being a "credible artiste". Ain't happening pal. Leona Lewis hasn't managed it in 5 years despite her massive success from her first album; equally no artist from the show has managed it. Matt is rapidly turning into a Steve Brookstein character and ultimately I think he will suffer the same fate. And doing dares for female song doesn't really conform to his attempts to become a "credible artiste". Re One Direction - Harry in particular annoys me. He cannot answer a question in an interview without first looking at the camera to give the young 'uns a cheesy smile. Eugh. The sooner they are gone the better. And the REALLY annoying thing - "WMYB" is f*****g brilliant :S See my reasons above. Not entirely cover related but they account for at least 75% of the "idiot" rating.
-
First week X Factor single sales
Even more so given single sales are some 20% higher this year than they were a year ago, therefore Matt equivalent target is 51.6k (43.0k+20%). Anyone know roughly what his sales will be this week?

Top 100 Songs Selling the most whilst at #1 in the 00's
Excellent idea, I suspect Bleeding Love will be extremely high on this one, will it be #1 (excluding Pop Idol/XF winners/charity singles)? Only other one I can think of is FFTL but that only got one week @ #1 IIRC.

Artist Bashing Thread Part III
Maybe "idiot" was a bit harsh but the cover was absolutely dreadful. Therefore I'm still inclined to say he's an "idiot" but maybe not a full scale one.

Artist Bashing Thread Part III
Did Matt Cardle cover Shania Twain "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" on Live Lounge (heard it on R1 the other day and it sounded like him but not 100% sure)? If he did, what an absolute stinking pile of crap - why choose a song like that? Idiot. LOL! Hilarious and so, so true :D
-
iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
I agree, I can't see Matt holding up AT ALL once he drops out the top 10 - in fact, I can see a Leona/Avicii-esque plummet on the cards. :o

Love Good Girl!

iTunes Chart: October 2011 (II)
Excellent that almost ALL of Steps singles are still climbing there whilst almost everything else is dropping - bodes well that sales of the album are also following suit after last night's 3rd documentary episode.

Should Charity/X Factor Winners physical singles be scrapped
Surely it would have to be sanctioned by Simon in which case how would he be pissed off?

Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
Yeah they were pretty good actually in places, Claire has always had a great voice, Faye sounded ok apart from being a bit shaky in places and it was only really Lisa and H who were off-key majorly  REALLY REALLY wanna hear One For Sorrow live, I would love it if they managed to get an X Factor slot this year; based on them apparently being asked back in 2009, it is not beyond the realms of possibility!

Steps - 'The Ultimate Collection'
Great site! I remember it back in the day and it was the site that always without fail had a list of their upcoming TV performances. I was glued to the site non-stop for about 3 years ... :o Can you imagine the meltdown if AOOL manages to make it onto the tour setlist, given that basically its Claire all the way through with just a verse of H thrown in? Lisa and Faye's tantrums would be legendary! I think BBF is only the 3rd highest due to it following Tragedy. I think any single that followed Tragedy would have sold astronomically. BBF was lucky because it was quite a poor sound and had a completely uninspiring (and complicated) dance routine to go with it. In that sense, they failed to capitalise on the success of Tragedy and One For Sorrow, the dance routine for BBF or whatever single they went for next should have been simplistic and obvious in exactly the same manner as Tragedy and OFS were. I also think Buzz sold only half of Steptacular due to the change in sound. Buzz was far more mature sounding than Steptacular, I think a lot of the hardcore fans liked the progression but the casual fans didn't.
