This. One More Sleep is easily for me the 2nd best Xmas song with All I Want For Christmas firmly at #1. Really hope it continues to be supported year on year - its the most catchy Xmas song for about a decade.

Can kworb accurately differentiate within the 5% bands though?

All the Lily song needs is 1 play on a high profile show and it bounces back up significantly, normally over the weekend though so I agree she could be falling throughout today/tomorrow/Thursday. However, Leona's X Factor effect has to wear off soon, unless as you say the top 10 exposure in iTunes is really helping along with the additional radio/tv play. Interesting times, it would be wonderful if the song did manage to hit the #1 spot on iTunes (even if not officially) but I'm still doubtful as Avicii seems to be consistently gaining at least as much (if not more) than Leona is and therefore would have to be regarded as favourite to get the #1 spot on iTunes from Lily - has he been there before? If not, and he does take the #1 spot, I'd be surprised if he didn't shoot off in the distance from the #1 spot exposure.

The X Factor effect is certain to wear off as the week progresses, what will be interesting is to what extent the Xmas Factor/Radio Play/TV Play/This Morning/Jonathan Ross stabilises this reduction, or indeed offsets it fully or means the track keeps rising.

Awesome to see Leona shooting up the iTunes chart, the performance was fantastic really Christmassy. Great song as well, nice to see original Xmas songs charting high. Top 5 this week would be fantastic but I think she'll place somewhere between 5-10 once the X Factor effect wears off - unless the video starts getting high rotation and airplay continues to increase.

So sales at the top end of the chart have increased by more than at the lwoer end of the chart? Do you have similar multipliers for #2, #3, #4, #5, #10, #20, #30, #40, #75, etc?

But sales from 2009 to 2013 HAVE increased that much. The average #1 sale for 2009 up to 15 August was 70,124 (using this site's chart vault). The average #1 sale for 2013 up to 17 August was 117,811 (again using this site's chart vault). Therefore giving a multiplier of x1.68. So when BL has sold at least 1.68x as much as PF (1.68m??), then the sales argument for BL being a bigger hit than PF starts to stack up. Otherwise it's kinda redundant.

But as Ben says sales now are greater than they were 4 years ago (even at the top end of the chart - just do a simple comparison of the average sales of a #1,#5,#10 etc now compared to the same position 4 years ago when PF was out) therefore a direct comparison of sales now against sales 4 years ago is misleading unless some adjustment is made. Plus, PF was released approx 3-4 months after the release if its parent album; BL was released in advance of its album therefore BL is always going to sell more, again meaning that comparing straightforward sales isn't comparing like with like.

Probably not entirely relevant here (so mods please move if you see fit) but what do the lyrics to Blue's All Rise mean? Is it about a couple that have split up and are going to court (if so, over what?) Is it about a couple who have split up and the guy is letting the girl know he's glad he's got rid of her and that others, over time, will also recognise that, by using courtroom terminology?

Anyone know best place to download hd versions of the episodes? Also, what is best way to then watch them on TV - our laptop has a HDMI out and we've tried using vlc player but there's just a wee bit of jerkiness in the pic and the sides are slightly cut off.

Is Gold by ABBA one of the anomalies? 850k in a month and a half in April/May last year seems way too high!

Was just going to say this - an album, if done correctly, represents a body of work for that artist at that point in their career. A cohesive sound of the artist. For me, that is no more embodied by Leona's Echo (of course I would say that) - one of the best albums for me of modern times. Granted, a lot of albums are indeed two hit singles with 10 tracks tacked on. But as I say if done correctly then an album is much more than just a way to rob the public of a tenner.
