U can tell exactly from livepopbars who's increasing/decreasing relative to all other songs in the top 100 U can also tell how much an artist is selling by comparing it to the sales of the #100 or #75 or #40, which are usually very consistent week on week within a 10-12 week period and therefore the relativities of a track against that benchmark makes it really easy to work out how much .e.g. The #1 will sell in the Tuesday mids

2nd adventure u got it the wrong way round! :P It's "current update / previous update then -100%" That gives the Sats and Maroon 5 decreasing by 1% and 1.1% respectively compared to Pixie.

And many of them have done much worse. Which probably means that Collide is good, but neither great nor bad (in terms of commercial appeal).

I don't really see many people disagreeing with you that the song just isn't good enough to be challenging for the top spot. That's certainly my perspective on the track. But if you're going to make a point, its maybe worthwhile to actually read what people are saying, so you can't misinterpret something the way you just did.

Who is saying that NO ONE is aware of Leona's releases? Clearly that cannot be the case, because whoever is making that point (although I haven't seen anyone say that) would be incredibly stupid as they'd have circumvented their own point by being aware of it themself. D'oh! What some people (myself included) are stating is that A LOT (not ALL) of people are unaware of Leona's release. I refer you to Rabbitfurcoat's post which puts it far more eloquently than I. Although I do agree with you, that it may just be that of those who are aware of Leona's song, they just don't like it. However, my previous point still stands, and exposure always increases sales.

Because not everyone watches the Music Channels and/or Red or Black?

I think a lot of people are actually unaware that Leona has a new single out. I've lost count of the number of people that have said to me personally that they wouldn't have had a clue Leona had a new single out if I hadn't been banging on about it.

I think with Leona there are a few issues:- the court case, which has impacted on radio play (whether in duration, or size, or both)The song isn't actually that good unless its in a club with the thumping bass in which case it sounds awesome. I just don't think it comes across like that on the radio. The song takes times to grow to like:- I went through a phase of "what?!" when I first heard it; to loving it after about 15 listens, to just being apathetic towards it (now)

Its not really that hard though - instead of pressing "minus" on the calculator, it just needs "divide" to be pressed in its place.

No need to swear. I'm not surprised Leona's doing badly given her airplay and the fact that the song isn't that good (she's not doing the worst though). Saturday's fans being more likely to download multiple copies - I can believe that; but them seeing Pixie @ #1 and downloading is likely to be more than offset by Pixie (and non Pixie) fans seeing her at #1 on iTunes and downloading her instead. The iTunes #1 boost is proven to boost tracks sales substantially so I was using that theory as it has much more credence.

Here's another theory:- a lot of Pixie fans (mainly teenagers) will see her at #1 on iTunes when they come home from school today and download her.

The % movements are fine as long as the divisor method is used. All that is needed are 3 simple things:- Calculate:- % in current update, divided by % in previous update, then subtract 100%. This gives the % movement for each track from one update to the next; The scale is: -100% being the smallest and (positive) infinity being the highest; When comparing 2 tracks' movements against each other, whichever has the larger number is performing better.Simples :)

iTunes Chart: September (II)
These % movements are misleading. I think its because you're subtracting the two %'s rather than dividing them. Assume artist A at #1 on 100% has steady sales, and is selling 1,000 copies per hour. Another artist(artistB) starts on 25% (and are therefore selling 250 copies per hour). By the next update, Artist A remains at #1 (100% or 1,000 copies per hour) but Artist B is now on 50% (therefore selling 500 copies per hour). Using your subtraction method, you would be showing the increase for Artist B as +25%, which is clearly misleading as its sales have increased by 100%. Therefore the % movements need to be shown using a divisor method - i.e. for Artist B, {50%/25%-1}=+100%.

Leona Lewis & Avicii - Collide - Where will it chart?
This one is the best quality I've heard (still not that great though):-
-
iTunes Chart: September (II)
Read my post again ... I said they're rapidly becoming irrelevant.
-
iTunes Chart: September (II)
That was kinda my point - they're on the downward slope towards irrelevancy, and I can see their album completely flopping with less than 100k sales which would surely spell their demise.
-
Leona Lewis & Avicii - Collide - Where will it chart?
I agree, Collide just doesn't get going and it isn't a surprise to see it flopping on radio. Have you heard Glassheart? It is similarly uptempo to Collide but has a massive hook and an even stronger beat. I think this will smash if it is released as a single. Echo is one of my favourite albums of all time - up there with Bon Jovi Cross Roads, Shania Twain Come On Over and a few others. I don't dislike a single track on Echo, I love its cohesiveness as a complete body of work and its just a shame that the type of music it encompasses just isn't "in" right now.

Just check the previous thread - 28 pages yesterday :o Is that a record for this forum?

Pixie = generic cookie-cutter pop with no substance and a terrible vocal (better in the studio but absolutely abysmal live) The Saturdays = their worst song to date, absolutely horrendous and easily the worst #1 this year if it were to get there (and there have already been some horrors so far). I genuinely don't see the point in The Saturdays anymore - they are rapidly becoming irrelevant. If their album flops as hard this time around Cowell may not even have to dust said suit down.

4th September Chart Battle
Sarcasm <> immaturity. Posting "Hahahahaha" clearly does though.

Amazingly I agree with (almost) everything you have said. Other than if it was between Pixie and The Sats, I'd rather the world imploded and neither got #1, or Simon Cowell hauled his Darth Vadar suit out of his mansion and terminated the 6 of them.

iTunes Chart: September (II)
As far as I can see, the battle is already well and truly over for The Saturdays, unless they can reverse their past iTunes form, which I'd say is extremely unlikely. Still you never know, and I'm sure it'll keep the loons interested for a good while longer :P
