Beyoyo now up to 0.92; that temporary decrease must have been an iTunes revert.

UK Digital album sales on the rise
Agree, either that or the whole album market will fall through the floor if physical albums are completely phased out eventually, as it is not the same bying someone a digital album for Xmas - you can't wrap it for starters unless you burn it onto CD yourself and even then, you'd need a printer that could print images on CD's and do the album artwork for insert into a blank jewel case.

iTunes Chart: June 2011 (IV)
Album tracks that are cherry picked generally peak on iTunes on Thursday, ascending quickly to near their peak by close of play Tuesday with a slight rise to get to that overall Thursday peak. With Beyonce's track having already had a good bit of radio play, and massive exposure from last night's Glasto concert, and the fact that its iTunes exposure will also be quicker than most album tracks as it is already in the iTunes top 10 and therefore has higher visibility than non-top 10 tracks, I think it will peak quicker than most albumt tracks. However, if it actually makes #1 on iTunes, the extra visibility from that alone (over and above the "top 10 visibility") may mean it hangs around at its peak longer than Thursday. Having said all that, I'll still be surprised if she actually does the double (single & album #1). She would need a huge lead on iTunes singles chart to do it; as Monday releases are always at a large disadvantage and have circa 25% of lost weekly sales (from not being available on Sunday) to make up. If she hits the top spot on iTunes I think she'll debut @ #3 officially unless she builds up a massive lead. If she doesn't hit the top spot on iTunes officially but gets as high as #2 I think she'll debut around #6-#10.

I can't see Beyonce failing to get into the top 2 on iTunes now; the only question is whether it can hit the top spot on iTunes and at the pace its going at I think it can.

iTunes Chart: June 2011 (IV)
#5 to #2 on iTunes are incredibly close; if the top 10 boost shunts it to #5 I'm sure it'll get to at least #2. I genuinely think this could go all the way to the top spot on iTunes; its rising at an incredible pace. Did she perform it at Glasto last night?

iTunes Chart: June 2011 (IV)
At the rate it is shooting up, its going to be top 10 on iTunes early afternoon and probably #2 on iTunes by the end of the day. I reckon that'll put it between #8-#12 on the Tuesday mids; should easily make top 10 on the official chart, could be as high as #5 officially, potentially even higher if it actually makes the top spot on iTunes. Have any "album" tracks hit the iTunes top spot upon an album's release week? I know BTINH its a kind of album/single hybrid, but even still ...

Finally. :cheer: After shooting up iTunes over the latter part of last week, I was convinced this would go top 10 on iTunes early this week but it narrowly missed out when GaGa got there first and I actually thought it had missed its chance. Now come on and shoot up higher in the top 10 now, this song is too good to peak outside the top 10 - hopefully it can get a top 5 peak overall. Video is awesome for this song, my favourite video of all time almost

Was reading back and don't think anyone confirmed this - yes it was chart ineligible for 2 (maybe 3) weeks as a result of being a pre-order from an unreleased album.

TEOG is going to drop a bit with the POG boost now starting to wear off, but it should stabilise soon and radio play should pull it upwards. I still think its touch and go whether it actually can reenter the top 10; I really hope it does as it is too good a track to miss out. LFN will be top 10 by early afternoon I think. It should shoot up to #6 in no time as well, I reckon it could be as high as #3 by midday Friday (when its climb will be halted a bit again due to the weekend effect).

Poll : How many singles should be released from an album?
I voted for "Don't mind how many" although there should have been another category "should be album and artist specific". It is impossible to say that 3 songs should be released from every single album, just as it is impossible to set that number at 1, 2, 4, 5 or any other number. The number will vary across artist, genre and album, not to mention current selling trends and god knows what else (e.g. specific live performances - ref Adele @ the Brit Awards). Silly poll as it is impossible to generalise across all the variables I have mentioned.

Are you being serious? Video effects are pronounced and obvious in almost all cases. There are countless examples of videos boosting songs up the chart, and given that Adele is a major artist these days, there is no way the video channels won't be lapping her video up and bumming it non-stop when it is released. That should shoot SFTTR into the top 10 on iTunes, if it hasn't got there already.
