  1. How would that make SLY chavvy?!?! I'd say that SLY is the most "un-chavvy" song in the top 10 by a country mile ...
  2. Looks like LMFAO will be up to #2 shortly :o
  3. I'd just like to add my tuppence worth in - I agree almost entirely with what you've said Eric; I'd agree, for me, Capital is the best station. Real Radio up here is basically the Scottish version of Heart though, which I also dip in and out but they don't play the rap edit on a lot of songs that have a rap component on and that frustrates the hell out of me. Same with Forth One, which is basically a cross between Real Radio and Capital, leaning more to the Real Radio end of that spectrum. Capital do seem to have a select few songs (usually 5 or 6) that they hammer to death. This I think is quite good, as usually at least 3 or 4 of them. The 5 tracks they are hammering right now seem to be:- Lady Gaga - Born This Way (was getting the play at the top of the hour this week) Adele - Someone Like You  Rihanna - S&M  Jessie J - Price Tag  The Wanted - Gold Forever :puke: So four out of five seems like a good ratio to me :) I can't listen to S&M now on any station other than Capital as the deletion of certain words does my bloody head in!!! I think they've dispensed with Firework now on the whole (probably relegated to their C-list equivalent, if they have one) but they're definitely playing Gold Forever almost non-stop still, which ironically really needs to erm, stop. Actually, I wonder if Capital vary the music they play between regions - since it was syndicated country wide I just (naively) assumed that they would be playing the same tracks pretty much the same number of times across the UK, but maybe this isn't the case?
  4. MW article, doesn't add much:-

  7. Yep, I reckon she'll be 150k +/- 10k, probably the lower end of that spectrum, its really hard to call, I plumped for her NOT beating Bruno in my prediction game which gives me a dilemma as I'd love for her to oust the rubbish Grenade as the biggest weekly sale of the year, but I still want those 20 points!

E.T. won't as its an album track and actually isn't that great; Sewat definitely won't either as its not mainstream enough.

I think it is a combinationof factors, as Danny said, in order of importance (illustrated by impact on album sales):- 1. Those who bought 19 actually liked it and it gave them a thirst to buy the subsequent release. Therefore large initial sales for 21, sustained into Week 2 and the first part of week 3; 2. Rolling In The Deep was a radio hit and similar to, but a progression from, her material on 19, therefore also contributing to Week 1 and 2 sales; 3. The BRITs performance of Someone Like You, caused a massive upward surge in sales in Weeks 3 and 4; 4. Radio's very quick take-up on Someone Like You (#1 after 3? weeks following BRITs performance; but top 10 on 2nd week) resulting in those who didn't watch the BRITs realising what a simplistic masterpiece the song is, continuing the impetus into weeks 5, 6 and 7 5. Comic Relief performance boosting the album back up on Week 8 and carrying into Week 9. 6. Mother's Day impact for Week 10. Overlaying all of that of course is the X Factor and the benefit that had to the UK sales.
  12. Major Deja Vu, I asked that same question about a week ago and that time it was Jonjo who answered with the same reply as Cremey! :o It was Laza Morgan that was featured on Alex's #1 Start Without You. Although I can easily see how you got confused!

Yes it can, as that will be its sales tally since the site was published online - i.e. since 01 January 2011. See the following link:- http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/displayTra...at.+Flo+Rida%29 The figures look accurate, certainly extrapolating e.g. Lopez x 7 = 95k (broad brush I know) and then further extrapolating for iTunes' share of the market - say 60%) would give 158k for the week, which I don't think will be too far away from reality. Maybe it is right after all, but that begs the question; why are the sales being published on an obscure site, rather than something officially endorsed by iTunes?
  14. Wow, a win, had completely forgotten about this one. :o Don't think I'll be doing so well in this week's results though, looks like my lead at the top will be decreasing.

Someone Like You's phenomenal run at the top surely has come to an end Mikey, you don't seriously expect it to go back to #1 in 2 weeks time, never mind four?! :o I think J-Lo has the lead in the bag for this week and next, given her monstrous lead on iTunes. Not even the BEP will overtake that methinks.
  16. +15 Blondie "Maria" +12 Britney Spears "...Baby One More Time" +10 No Doubt "Don't Speak" +8 Meat Loaf 'I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)' +6 Cher "Believe" +5 Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody/These Are The Days Of Our Lives" +4 The Spice Girls 'Viva Forever' +3 Babylon Zoo "Spacem +2 Fugees "Killing Me Softly" +1 All Saints 'Never Ever' -2 East 17 'Stay Another Day' +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What a rubbish final list!!!! :( Only the top 5 I REALLY like, the other 5 I kinda like but wouldn’t always stick with them if they came on the radio. The only real pleasure I got from this is putting that HORRENDOUS East 17 track as a minus 2 – I will never, ever, ever, forgive that song for stopping Mariah Carey from getting the Xmas #1 with the FAR FAR better track, All I Want For Christmas Is You. :(
  17. I make J-Lo x2.3 ahead of Someone Like You. Someone Like You should drop to around 65-70k this week which means at the current pop bar multiples, J-Lo would muster up 150-162k for the week. The x2.3 is probably about right as that lead will extend to around x2.75 tonight, before dropping back to around x2 by the end of the week, so a x2.3 average is probably not too far away.
  18. Spiidey's Chart Singles Prediction Game Chart Sunday 03rd April 2011 :cheer: :yahoo:  :cheer: WEEK 13 IN 2011!!! The predictions are broken down into two sections:- SECTION A In this section, you will predict where 14 songs are going to be in the following Sunday's Top 75 chart. In this section, you should predict for each song a position between 1 and 75 based on where you think that song will chart within the Top 75. If you think the song will chart outside the top 75 (i.e. position 76 or lower) you should use the notation "75+". The point scoring for these 14 songs is:- 10 pts if spot on with your prediction (therefore a maximum of 140 points to play for in this section);9 pts if your prediction is out by 1 position, 8 pts if your prediction is out by 2 positions, down to 1 pt if your prediction is out by 9 positions and zero points if your prediction is out by 10 or more positions; If you think a song will not make the Top 75, you can predict that song to be 75+ (i.e. any position outwith the top 75). If this is correct, you will get 5 points; If a song charts in a position between 76-84 (e.g. 77), and you have predicted that song to chart at a position between 67-75 (e.g. 70), you will still score the "normal" points - in the example given, you would score 3 pts;If a new single is pulled from release or non-chart eligible then everyone's prediction for that question will be void and everyone will be awarded 5 points;Due to physical singles sales declining I have scrapped the old rule of awarding points should the physical release be postponed so long as the download release goes ahead as scheduled.+ SECTION B In this section, you will predict the answer to THREE bonus questions by answering "Yes" or "No". Each bonus question is worth 20 Pts (therefore giving a maximum of 60 points from this section). Therefore there will be a maximum of 200 Points [140 points in Section A, and 60 points in Section B] to gain. ============================================================ THE PREDICTIONS:- Sales Period: Sunday 27th March – Saturday 02 April SECTION A Aloe Blacc – I Need A Dollar Britney Spears – Femme Fatale Britney Spears – Till The World Ends Cee Lo Green – Bright Lights, Bigger City Glee Cast – Firework Jodie Connor ft. Tinchy Stryder – Bring It Katy B – Broken Record Katy Perry ft. Kanye West – E.T. LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock – Party Rock Anthem Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios – Hey (Nah Nah Nah) Natalia Kills – Mirrors Panic! At The Disco – The Ballad of Mona Lisa Rebecca Black – Friday The Hoosiers – Bumpy Ride SECTION B Bonus #1: Will Jennifer Lopez – On The Floor achieve the highest weekly sale of 2011 to date [current highest = Grenade (Bruno Mars) with 149,824]? Bonus #2: Will Mann ft. 50 Cent – Buzzin be higher than Kanye West ft. Various Artists – All Of The Lights in the chart? Bonus #3: Will Nicki Minah – Girls Fall Dominoes be higher than Ke$ha – Blow in the chart? ============================================================ You have up until circa 10:00am UK Time on Tuesday 29th March to get your entries in (I'll be keeping the thread open) but entries altered after the midweeks have arrived will be excluded. Each Game counts towards the Overall Leaderboard (The Best 48 Games). Whilst I will maintain the last 6 weeks Leaderboard for newer players If you have never played in previous years, then here is a great opportunity to join in the fun! :cheer:
  19. O/T but how do I get the time to correct for DST? It's got a tick next to the section in the board settings, but the post times in e.g. This thread are still 1 hour behind
  20. Yes congrats J Lo!!!
  21. For once, I agree with your anti-rapper stance - the J Lo only version is waaaaay better. It is also one of the few songs that I can listen to on Forth One and Real Radio without being annoyed that they're not playing the main stream version a la Capital.
  22. Even though it's going to be quite front-loaded (particularly given it's high initial placing in the early hours last night), I also reckon this will easily clear 100k and should achieve similar sales to Katy P's California Gurls last year. Should build up a lead of at least double Adele at the rate it is going. :cheer:
  23. corrected :) As I thought, J Lo heading for #1, love this song, my second favourite of the year after Price Tag.
  24. Come on On The Floor. Rocket to #1 please Hope to wake up in the morning and find it there :)
  25. I think you're right though, more Adele fans will be non-chavs rather than chavs, more Eminim fans will be chavs than non-chavs, and a bigger proportion of Eminem's total downloads will be illegal than the comparator figure for Adele. Also, if J Lo doesn't hit #1 onItunes with ease by early afternoon I'll be astonished. The most obvious #1 of the year so far.
