Yep I agree I'd have said the lower end your range there, but with Alan Carr on Friday that might just push her over the line to bag a #6.

No-one's really doing that though - just trying to put a bit of context out there for the posters (not yourself) that are claiming that she is getting great promo for this single. The once, twice, three times benefit that repeated radio plays can have on people initially disliking a song but that can grow to love a song shouldn't be underestimated either!

Agere and what people also need to remember is that whilst X Factor gets 9-10 million viewers, the #50 on Radio Airplay got 17.68 million listens last week, and Leona as you say isn't top 50 herself on Radio play.

Sunday Chart Predictions
Of course she'll go top 10/20 - its almost pretty certain now she'll go top 10 given she's #6 on iTunes, she should be top 10 on iTunes until later on in the week and will probably reenter if she drops out due to the Alan Carr promo on Friday night/

Of course I'm counting the +1, why wouldn't that be counted? Therefore X Factor had more viewers at peak and on average. It's irrelevant whether BBC has a +1 or not.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 7th October 2012
Um, no it didn't, X Factor had a higher peak and average than SCD.

Definitely SOMETHING wrong with the kworb %'s, doing the same calculation using the #40 bar (0.0372) gives a rate of 222,000 for the week or 63,000 for today/tomorrow (based on 2/7ths of 8,300 sales for #40 last week and the 0.0372 above). I'm inclined to believe the pro-rata from the #40 bar given that (a) this is much more realistic! and (b) because kworb rounds to the nearest 0.05 all the estimations below 0.05 are likely to be out by quite some distance, the closer we are to 0.05 the better for estimation purposes.

Based on that 0.0012, Adele is selling 833 copies for every one that the #100 is selling. Based on last week, #92 sold 2,740 for the week, multiply that by 833 and that means Adele is selling at a rate of 2,283,333 copies for the week, right now (which would put her on for 650,000 copies today/tomorrow based on a straight pro-rata 2/7ths). There must be something wrong with those kworb %'s.

1 ADELE - Skyfall 1.0000 2 Rihanna - Diamonds 0.5500 3 PSY - Gangnam Style (강남스타일) 0.4000 Almost double Rihanna already and x2.5 against PSY - this could/should go top 3 if it continues at this pace, as the gap is only likely to continue to get bigger until this evening at least!

'Fake' versions of songs
Ah that makes sense, explains why there are no/very little cover versions of Uk artists songs prior to their release on UK iTunes as at that point the track hasn't been released elsewhere therefore the record company can pull the fake / the fakes don't even bother as its too much bother to record/release knowing they'll get pulled.

"Skyfall" • Official Thread
You're not and I completely echo your sentiments. I hope its a turd and starts the downfall. How much did SLY sell first week, compared to WMYB? Adele sells well singles wise if she has a good song, and only if she has a good song, whereas comparatively OD sell well single wise regardless.

Sunday Chart Predictions
It must be more than that - if the Script drop 10% on the week then they'd be heading for approx 57,500 for the week in total, which would put them on about 30k at the moment, so PSY on 35k. Still a decent lead though (17%).

I just hope it sells ridiculously well next week and the week after before starting to stabilise to give Leona a chance of the #1.

iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 16th September 2012
Probably the fact that it is an enduring world wide hit, similar to Fun which just missed out on #1 initially but crept back up over a long period of time, a hit which conveniently you also "wrote off" minutes into its chart run. I do hope Eric has a Good Time in his bedroom :o

Illegal download stats - interesting article...
Completely agree, the price of an album and single have absolutely plummeted compared to (a) their price in the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 00's; and (b) even further if you apply inflation to the prices in the 70's-00's to bring it to today's prices. The price of a single/album compared to average income levels is at its lowest its ever been, and by quite some distance, probably half of what ti was in the late 90's, yet that period saw MASSIVE single and MASSIVE album sales. The reason illegal downloading is so high is that people are greedy, and if the option exists to obtain that music for free then I suspect the majority of people will do it. Everyone I know under the age of 40 illegally downloads, its only the older age group that don't. With that in mind, the only thing stopping illegal downloading becoming even more prevalent is to make it more difficult to do. I've already started to encounter problems trying to download various albums as the vast swathe of sites that used to host illegal music has dropped off either through site shutdowns (Limewire) or the blocking of certain sites by UK ISP's (ThePirateBay). Its now I would say 100% more difficult to download illegal music than it was a year ago, although its still not so difficult that it has pushed me to start buying a lot of music again. Another thing to throw into the mix is that the price of attending a concert/gig has absolutely sky rocketed given the changing business model used by labels. That in itself is a vicious circle as the astronomical cost of attending gigs (£100+ for the Killers) means less disposable income to actually buy the singles/albums of said artist which in itself contributes back towards more illegal downloading, and in turn even higher costs of gigs, etc etc ad nauseum.
