    Migos "Stir Fry"

    After several years I finally found a Migos song that's not only good, but pretty spectacular! It took some magic from Pharrell, or should I say a lot of magic because there's a LOT going on here. And the production is by far the highlight here, an incredible array of instruments and rhythms that somehow blend together perfectly. I feel like Pharrell has had a pretty bad rap around here lately (some of it deserved tbf) so this was a nice reminder that he's still a musical genius.

    I'll even give Migos some credit too, it's nice to hear the three of them cohesively doing their own thing rather than just repeating what each other says. Stuck between two singles that both got more attention simply for who was featured on them (Nicki & Cardi B on "Motorsport", and Drake on "Walk It Talk It"), it felt like "Stir Fry" barely had its moment to shine. But if we have to deal with Migos being popular for a few more years, at least we can hope for more songs like this one.

    he seemingly doesn't get much hype these days, his new album was quite easy to miss (and I presume you mean 'Nirvana' as that was the single, if you mean 'I Came Here For You' then that was only an album track).

     

    he also had 'Gorecki' (cover of the Lamb song) which is really worth checking out if you haven't.

    p.s. why did 'nice for what' bounce back up 8 weeks later in your top 10??

    absolute return to form for the queen of infectious pop. amazing album to accompany and lest she wait so long between albums again!

    great cut from their new album and best band in a while for me. incredible live and their output just seems to be getting better. just wish this got video treatment..

    undoubtedly the year of ariana. she didn't put out a single dud in 2018 and breathin' is one of my favs. thank u, next got pretty old pretty quick but breathin' continues to grow. harping back to videos, i wish this one was better but i think compared to the previous two my standards were just set too high.

    from one of my favourite albums of the same name this song just speaks to ya. 'do it' was my absolute fav song of 2017 and this follow up did not dissapoint.

    I started the year off with La La Land which I've now decided is my favourite live action movie ever :wub: Still absolutely magic <3

    ive been putting off watching this for too long. i think ive hyped it up too much now.

     

    just watched roma. didn't really captivate me but the directing was incredible!

    She has performed at the Grammys for 3 years in a row so that'd basically be the same old, her singing and playing piano. Go to BAFTAs and save Shallow for Oscars (it's a movie song after all) would be good decision too.
