PREDICT: P!nk - Please Don't Leave Me
Competition for what, the No.36 spot?!? :P Only kidding, will probably do alright but third release from album is unlikely to chart that high.

Ethan’s Chart Commentary, Sunday 22nd February 2009.
Fantastic commentary and the obscure facts are very interesting to read! Please keep it up. I get the impression from replies on this thread that people are favouring Ben's commentary which is unfair. This is great work and I look forward to reading it every week!

Comic Relief Singles
More to the point.....what song is Peter Kay gonna pop up with, putting the "official" song to shame?

Comic Relief Singles
Oh dear....I sense "Walk This Way" level of sales....... If you're gonna go down the cheesy cover route, at least choose a cheesy song to cover.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
At the end of the day, these "consecutive run" records will continue to appear but most of them will have footnotes or exceptions, ie *excluding album tracks or *excluding unofficial singles or, in Girls Aloud's case, *excluding one single which we don't count because it didn't make Top 10  As I have said before, artists charting album tracks or unofficial singles are probably proud of the fact that they are popular enough to do so and don't give a damn about "records". It is just the obssessive fans (you know who you are!) who care.

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles

Peter Kay/ Geraldine McQueen Song Not A Charity Single
I think it is quite a compliment to Peter Kay's charitable output that you assume all his releases are for charity......

Mids: How many times a week do you want them
Thanks for the intelligent response. News is news whatever it happens to be about whether its about war, politics or the music charts, I would argue that the point is the same. To not want an update because it might be "boring" is ridiculous. If you don't like then do as the majority of people say and don't read it, in the same way you wouldn't buy a newspaper.

Mids: How many times a week do you want them
I couldn't agree less. Do you think we should only publish newspapers twice a week because too much news is boring?!?!

Predict: Oasis - The Shock of the Lightning
Oh dear how tacky. Why don't they just turn into a Beatles tribute band and be done with it?

The Irish Chart Thread 2008
Can anyone shed any light as to why "Africa" by Toto is No.2 in the Irish Itunes charts? Seems rather random but I'm sure there is some reason for it.

Most songs without a number one
Most Successful Acts Not To Have A Number 1 Single Depeche Mode have had most Top 40 hits without making No. 1 (42 of them up to Nov 2006). In fact, they've never risen above No. 4. Billy Fury has spent 231 weeks on the Top 40. No other artist has spent longer on the chart without making No. 1. His best chart placing was Number 2 for "Jealousy" in 1961. Special mention must also go to Sash! who has made Number 2 on five occasions. No other artist has been 'runner up' with so many singles without ever making it to Number 1. (Jon) Bon Jovi has featured on twenty Top 10 singles but never made the number 1 position. Three hits behind, Janet Jackson has appeared on seventeen Top 10 singles without reaching the top spot. from Everyhit.com

Coldplay pull off transatlantic chart feat
No they didn't. The last act to top all 4 charts simultaneously was, I think, Beyonce with Crazy/Dangerously In Love.

iTunes Download Chart June '08
What a ridiculous statement. You listen to music because you like the music surely.

PREDICT - UB40 - Dance Until The Morning Light
And also, to be slightly pedantic, Baby Come Back wasn't a number one for UB40, just for Robin and Ali Campbell. So it will be their fourth if it gets to No.1 (which is HIGHLY unlikely but you never know)

Saving the physical singles market
You don't need a computer because you can download tracks onto your ipod in many stores. Plus i'd be very surprised to meet people who have NO access whatsoever to a computer.......thats quite a feat! Do they live in a cave? And if you don't want to buy an MP3 player then it's basically tough that you can't get the latest music. That is like me whinging a few years ago that I can't buy all the latest tracks on vinyl because I don't have a CD player.....people got over it and moved on.

Saving the physical singles market
Why are people so devastated with the death of the "physical" music market? I was under the impression that people bought music to listen to, not to look at the cover or play with stupid "free gifts". Its time to move with the times people and I'm afraid downloads/ipods are killing CDs in the same way CDs killed cassette tape and cassette tape killed tape cartridges and tape cartridges killed etc, etc.........

Chart soundalikes
I think it sounds more like "If Only I Could" by Sydney Youngblood.

Chart soundalikes
Rihanna is not a stranger to ripping off other songs.....She started by stealing "Unfaithful" from Rob Thomas' "Lonely No More" However the kings of "tribute" are currently the Hoosiers: Worried About Ray = Happy Together by the Turtles Goodbye Mr A - Mr Blue Sky by ELO Cops and Robbers = Love Cats by the Cure

Anyone collect (physical) No.1 Singles?
I have the majority of Number Ones on CD single from 1992 to 2004 with a few more dating from 1987 (My earliest CD No.1 is Pet Shop Boys Always On My Mind). And they are all about to be sold on Ebay sadly....they just don't get played and are taking up valuable space!
