Well it is, like it or not. Note i said "new recordings" not "new songs".

Maybe it the fact that the Westlife album is the only one with new recordings on it out of the four. Fans will already own all the material on the other three albums.

Yes lets hope Children In Need boosts her career in the same way it boosted Liberty X's eh? ;)

I think it would be better to trust Music Week. The papers generally do not get any reliable midweek information by Monday evening. They have probably just asked a few shops round London.

The Beyonce track has real staying power. I only wish Irreplaceable had made No.1 instead of the dire Deja Vu.

Any chance we can keep this thread free of mindless Westlife-slanging this week and keep to actually commentating on the chart?

    Here we go again............
  8. Am I right in thinking that some of the contenders for Christmas No.1 are "Angel" by Angelis and "Angels" by All Angels?? Anyone spotting a theme here?

Think you've got George and JK wrong way round Mikey.
  10. Errr...okay. Well fun as it has been proving the pointlessness of your argument, its almost time for the chart predictions.
  11. I bet you think "Irony" is a type of metal dont you?
  12. I think I'll leave this thread now. KnockedOut is winning hands down in this argument with clever, intelligent retorts like this.
  13. Can't even phrase your insults correctly I see. Go back to Playschool, breaktime is over.
  14. Good to know what level of intelligence we are dealing with here. I guess that ends the discussion.
  15. Exactly. Look at the amount of boy bands that have fallen apart when they start trying to write their own stuff.
  16. They can clearly sing and you showed your blinkered-ness by stating otherwise. If someone works in I.T. do you berate them because they did not write Windows themselves? Love them or hate them, they are simple using tools in existance to do what they do best : sing. This is clearly working as they sold twice as much as All Saints managed last week.
  17. Explain why being able the write their own songs is the only measure of "talent". Their talent is being able to sing and perform and they sell records. Live with it.
  18. Not much of a fan are you?!?
  19. I can actually see the though processes that went into this song.... Something Like this: "Right we need a follow up to Everytime we Touch....but make it a cover, lets not take any chances" "Okay I like ths song. Problem is, it doesn't fit with the standard vengaboys beat we nicked for our first song" "No worries I'll just say the words really really fast"

Seriously, you would do the same. Why change a formula that works?? I'm sure they are not in the business for artistic credibility. They are in it for the money! If I was a mechanic, I wouldn't turn up to work one day with a chainsaw because i know that a spanner WORKS!
  21. Utterly abysmal Whoever thought of taking one of the best ballads of the last 20 years and turning it into a Vengaboys B-Side should be shot.

"On the singles chart this week, there is little movement by way of new entries although U2 and Green Day are ascending the rundown from number six with charity single, The Saints Are Coming (Vertigo)." - From the Music Week Report What an odd statement given the No.1 is a new entry?!?!

Great lists. Thanks very much. Any chance you could lay your hands on a list of the longest running No.1's in Australia and where Sandi sits in that??
  25. Great site and very informative! Can you shed any light on the song that has been No.1 for 36 weeks in Denmark?!?
